Book review: Mine to Take by Cynthia Eden

 photo 18053913_zps84d49afa.jpg

Available June 12th 2013
Sometimes you want someone so much…
Sometimes you need someone so much…
Lust can become love.
And love can turn into a deadly obsession.

***

Skye Sullivan knows that someone is watching her. Not just watching—stalking her. Months ago, Skye was involved in a dangerous car accident. The accident ended her dancing career and sent her fleeing back to Chicago. Skye is convinced that her stalker caused the crash, and she fears that he won’t stop pursuing her, not until she’s dead.

When someone breaks into her apartment in Chicago, Skye turns to the one man she believes can protect her—Trace Weston. Once, Trace was her lover. Two lost souls, they’d come together in a firestorm of need and desire. But then Trace had pushed her away. He’d joined the military, vanishing from her life. She’d put all of her emotion into dancing, and she’d tried to forget him.

Now Trace is one of the most successful men in the United States. Rich, driven, and carrying dark secrets, he agrees to help Skye. He’ll protect her from the danger that lurks in the darkness, but Trace wants more than to just be a guard for Skye.

He wants her. And he’ll take her. The years have changed him, hardened him. He’s not just a poor kid from the streets any longer. Now, he can have anything—or anyone—that he wants. And the one woman he has always wanted has just come back into his life. He won’t let her go again.

But with the threats mounting against Skye, she suspects that her stalker may be intimately close. He’s a man who knows her too well. As his attacks grow ever more dangerous, she realizes that if she trusts the wrong man, she could be making a fatal mistake.

Lust. Love. Obsession.

Just how far would you go in order to possess the one person you want the most?

Author's Note: MINE TO TAKE is a sexy romantic suspense novella—it contains approximately 41,000 words. MINE TO TAKE is intended for adults. Sexy situations and adult language will be found within the pages of this story—please consider yourself warned.

This is a 150 novella that's part thriller part suspense with a healthy dose of sexy romance tossed in. The book takes place 10 years after Trace and Skye have broken up. He pretty much threw her up for her own good although she didn't know that. She thought he didn't want her anymore. Skye was this phenomenal dancer and he knew for her to succeed he needed to let her go. It killed him to do that but he did. What he didn't know is she would have given up everything to be with him. Ten years later though she comes to him as a last resort because she thinks someones been stalking her and possibly trying to kill her.  Trace has his own security firm and has connections and is rich now. He takes over Skye's lief pretty much to find out what's going on.  Who is the stalker? Is there a stalker? There is so much packed into these pages. Lots of secrets to unravel and a mystery or two. Can love last after so many years apart and so much hurt? This is action packed. Cynthia Eden drags you right into the middle of it. Can't wait for the follow up to this! 4 out of 5 stars for Mine to Take by Cynthia Eden.

Book review: Making It Last (Camelot #4) by Ruthie Knox

 photo 17704528_zps024339ee.jpg

Available July 15th 2013 136 pages novella
A hotel bar. A sexy stranger. A night of passion. There’s a part of Amber Mazzara that wants those things, wants to have a moment — just one — where life isn’t a complicated tangle of house and husband and kids and careers. Then, after a long, exhausting “vacation” with her family, her husband surprises her with a gift: a few days on the beach . . . alone.

Only she won’t be alone long, because a handsome man just bought her a drink. He’s cool, he’s confident, and he wants to take Amber to bed and keep her there for days. Lucky for them both, he’s her husband. He’s only got a few days in Jamaica to make her wildest desires come true, but if he can pull it off, there’s reason to believe that this fantasy can last a lifetime.

Ruthie Knox takes us back to Camelot one more time to put us in touch with the couple from the first book in the series Amber and Tony.  This short book takes place 10 years and 3 kids after they met in How to Misbehave . Like many marriages the Mazzara's are busy trying to make ends meet, take care of their kids and eek by with some kind of life.  After a family wedding in Jamaica Amber and Tony are trying to get their brood on the airplane when Tony tells Amber to stay. Her aunt has a few days paid for a room at the resort and she should relax and he'll take care of the kids etc. She is left standing there before she can say anything. Amber feels lost. She has doubts about her husband love and her place in the world now that her baby has started school she has time to think about these things. When Tony leaves her in Jamaica she should be happy to be able to relax and be on her own for a while but what she really wants in for Tony to be there with her and reconnect. Finally with the help of his mother in law he comes back to find her and get back to being a couple. Being married for over 20 years i can totally relate to this story. It's not easy being married. Many can't see past the wedding that marriage is give and take and being there for each other. It's kid of fun to go back and see how couple turn out from past books. This was an emotional journey that any married couple can relate too.  I was so happy to see Amber and Tony find their way back to love and life. 4 out of 5 stars for Making it Last by Ruthie Knox.

Book review: Bitter Disenchantment (Coveted 0.4) by Shawntelle Madison

 photo 17229699_zpsa4ef9ffb.jpg

Available now

Werewolf Natalya Stravinsky's outspoken sidekick, Aggie McClure, is featured in this prequel novella. Before Agatha set foot in South Toms River, New Jersey, she had the fight of her life to face. Destined to be the alpha female over her Manhattan pack, Aggie was fully prepared to take on her role until her father arranges a marriage without her consent. She wants out–but the only way is with money–something her new controlling husband won't give her to escape. But such odds never kept a wolf like Aggie down. To sever the twisted tie, she finds herself pitted against raging wood nymphs and backstabbing brownies in an underground supernatural fighting ring. With every victory, the sweet taste of freedom is closer, but her husband isn't willing to let her go that easily. Until the very end, Aggie must fight for the one thing she's never had: a choice

This is a prequel novella to Shawntelle Madison's Coveted series. As it says in the blurb this is Natalya Stravinky's friend Aggie. Aggie is a bad ass and in this novella she's got to be tough because her controlling father is set to marry her off. She resists at first then gives in when she thinks there might be a chance it's a love match. For a while everything feels good. She might actually have found the right man but then it all comes crashing down when he reveals his actual plans. Aggie is pretty much locked out of everything in life she cares about and set to be a trophy wife. Not going to happen. Aggie has to find a way to get out of this mess and she finds a friend or two to lead her in the right direction. It took me a while to get into this but by the end i was hooked and we at the end are left hanging a little as we have to wonder what's up for Aggie next. 3 out of 5 stars for Bitter Disenchantment by Shawntelle Madison.

Book review: The Seduction ( Inside out series, novella) by Lisa Renee Jones

 photo theseduction_zpsed77c5b3.jpg
Available January 28th 2013
An Inside Out novella...

The secret life of Rebecca and the men who have seduced her.
These are the journals Sara never sees, but you the reader, will!

More details!

The journals read like stories and begin the first time Rebecca visits the gallery in the INSIDE OUT TRILOGY. You will meet Mark, Chris, Ava, Amanda, Ricco, and all the series characters as she does AND there are tons of clues to what happens in BEING ME in the first 4 serials. They are woven within the story ready for your discovery, as is Rebecca's dark, erotic journey.

This is a journal style novella that tells the story from Rebecca's point of view. Rebecca is the woman who writes the journal in the first Inside out trilogy book. This is her accounting in her words. Remember she has disappeared in book one and Sara gets the journal. This was fun to read. Lots of sexy journal entries. A nice addition to the serial. 4 out of 5 stars for The Seduction. Find out more about the entire serial and all the extras here. www.lisareneejones.com

Book review: Only Us ( Fools Gold Holiday Novella) by Susan Mallery

 photo onlyus_zpseb7a5904.jpg

Fool's Gold, California, a charming small town that's short on men, has captured thousands of readers' hearts in Susan Mallery's New York Times bestselling series. Fall in love with Fool's Gold's beloved characters and heartwarming romance in Only Us: A Fool's Gold Holiday novella!

Pet groomer Carina Fiore wants nothing more than to confess her feelings to the man she loves. She's drawn to veterinarian Cameron McKenzie's good looks, caring nature and especially his devotion to his young daughter. But he's also her boss and a good friend. Putting her heart on the line could cost Rina both her job and their friendship forever.

Since his divorce, Cameron hasn't been willing to trust his heart--or his daughter--with anyone else. For months he's pushed away all thoughts of taking Rina in his arms and kissing her, unwilling to risk their friendship for a single night of pleasure. But when a kiss under the mistletoe unlocks the simmering passion between them, Rina and Cameron may just find love for the holidays after all....

This is a novella that goes along with Susan Mallery's Fools Gold series. I think you could also read it as a stand alone if you wanted too. Carina or Rina as she is called in the book is a pet groomer that works out of Cameron McKenzie's veterinarian office. She also helps take care of his little girl. She falls in love with him but he's kind of oblivious and really just afraid to change anything. His wife left him when his daughter was a just a baby so trusting does not come easy.  Carina's friend Beth convinces her to tell him how she feels and it backfires. Cameron rebuffs her so she plans to move her business out of his clinic and desperately tries to pretend like she's OK as she continues to care for his daughter and get through the holidays until she can get away from him. You can feel the hurt Carina feels as you read this story and the love she feels for both Cameron and his daughter. You can also feel for Cameron because he doesn't want to lose what he already has with Carina but is also afraid to give his heart again. Touching, wonderful short story. Love the ending.  4 out of 5 stars for Only us by Susan Mallery. Wish it would have been a full book but you take the little bits you get and enjoy them.

Book Review: Leave No Trace (Black Ops Inc 5.5 novella) by Cindy Gerard

Photobucket

Reissue from anthology Deadly Promises.
December 2012
David Cavanaugh is tired of his undercover work for the CIA. He desperately wants to retire but when a colleague (Wyatt Savage; Risk No Secrets) asks Cav to find his missing friend (Carrie Granger) he reluctantly agrees. Cav arrives in Myanmar where he discovers Carrie has been caught up in a bungled arrest. To cover up their mistake the government has thrown her in their ruby mines where she labors as a virtual slave. To free her Cav must pretend to work with the corrupt government in Myanmar. Can Carrie learn to trust him or will this rescue mission end in tragedy for them both?

If you have read the BOI or Black Ops Inc. series from Cindy Gerard you have met David Cavanaugh. David is better known simply as Cav. Long time friends and former coworkers of Wyatt Savage and Joe Green both on the BOI team.  In Whisper No Lies (book 3 and my favorite!) Cav helps the guys save the heroine in that book. Now he's thinking he's done with the CIA he wants out. Right about that time Wyatt calls desperate for his help. His friend Carrie is missing in a country that doesn't care for women's rights. He can't so no so off he goes. This is a short but fast paced book. Still has all the thrill factors the other full books in this series had and the hunky guy and tough but vulnerable girl and steamy sex scenes. I'm so glad we got to see a bit more of Cav. He comes  off as pretty slick and put together in the previous book he appeared in but we find out he's not as perfect as he seems. Loved this book but as always with a really good novella you wish it had been longer. Have to add it was nice to have a really quick visit with some of the other BOI guys too! 5 out of 5 stars for Leave No Trace by Cindy Gerard.

PS i found this novella after reading Killing Time and checking out her website. Great place to find out about the BOI series and the new One Eyed-Jack series. Book 1 in that series was reviewed here yesterday.

Book review: What Chris Wants (novella, Men who Walk the Edge of Honor) by Lori Foster

Photobucket

When the going gets tough, the tough turn to Chris Chapey. As the right-hand man to a group of take-no-prisoners mercenaries, Chris can organize a top secret rescue mission with his eyes closed. But when it comes to his personal life, Chris is the one who needs a little help.

His problem: Matt Houser. Chris can’t deny his attraction to Matt, but Matt has no idea what Chris’s job really entails and how much it means to him. Matt challenges Chris to change his life—and make a place for him in it. Can Chris risk telling him the truth?
Look for more titles in the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series available now from Lori Foster and Harlequin HQN: A Perfect Storm, Savor the Danger, Trace of Fever and When You Dare.

If you have been reading this series you know who Christ Chapey is. Chris is introduced in the first book in this series. He's kind of Dare MacIntosh's right hand man. He runs everything in the background and he's damn good at his job. Thing is his job requires absolute discretion and secrecy. That means have a love interest to a certain degree is out. Matt Houser is his love interest in this novella. We meet him in book two when he give Priss (Trace's love interest) a make over.  Both are frustrated. Chris because he can't tell Matt exactly what he does for a living and Matt because he can't seem to get past the walls Chris has to find out what's going on and why he's being kept at arms length away. This is a short 4 chapter novella but it nicely wraps up Chris's story a bit and you get to see the characters from the 4 previous full size books. Lori Foster has said she's never done a M/M books but i think she did a nice job with this novella. I think a lot of her readers were thrilled to see it and i would be one of those. Nicely done! Felt like a reunion with a bonus! 4 out of 5 stars! I hate to see the series end but this was a great way to end it.

Book Review: Romancing the Holiday(Anthology) HelenKay Dimon, Jaci Burton, Christi Barth

Photobucket

We wish you a merry Christmas…and a happily ever after!

A memorable three-night stand gets rekindled in a cabin in West Virginia. An office romance is sparked by an impulsive holiday kiss. And two best friends scout locations for a marriage proposal and discover that they make a perfect match. 'Tis the season for laughter, love and a lifetime of happiness.

Edited by Angela James this anthology includes:

We'll Be Home for Christmas by HelenKay Dimon
The Best Thing by Jaci Burton
Ask Her at Christmas by Christi Barth

We'll Be Home for Christmas by HelenKay Dimon( Holloway book3)

No man likes having his bedroom skills described as forgettable, but that's just what Lila Payne does when she runs into Spencer Thomas again. When she discovers that he'd lied about his name during their brief three-day romp a few months before, she's so angry that she pretends she doesn't remember him.

Spence regrets his deception, but not as much as he regrets that their time together didn't last longer. When she shows up in his town, looking to revitalize her uncle's mountain resort, Spence is determined to help. Maybe rescuing Lila from a hopeless renovation project will get him in her good graces—and back in her bed.

Lila has no interest in being rescued, and Spence is insulted by her stubborn rebuffs and her "faulty" memory. But when rehab work turns into an after-hours meeting, the two of them are in for a night that just might prove unforgettable

I am starting to love HelenKay Dimon work. I have been able to read a handful of her books so far and have yet to be disappointed. This is the 3rd novella in a series and oh so yummy good. Spence doesn't take relationships seriously but he isn't used to being the one walked away from and told sex with him was no big deal. When he meets Lila Payne at a hotel and they hit it off in bed for three days both think they'll never see each other again but both also regret that they won't a little too. Turns out never isn't that long when Lila shows up in Spence's work world and she finds out he's not who he said he was. Hurt she lashes out at him with words. For some reason he can't let it go once she accepts his apology. He wants to help her and perhaps finally find that he DOES so relationships. Loved this one. Definitely 5 out of 5 stars for me. Read as a stand alone or better yet buy the whole series.

The Best Thing by Jaci Burton( Kent Brothers book 3)

Tori Lewis had a perfect working relationship with Brody Kent, until a year ago, when a flaming hot kiss changed everything between them. With passion dancing a wicked tease around them, they have to decide which direction their relationship is going. But Tori doesn't want to risk losing her job and the only family she knows, while Brody wants to shake things up and make Tori his. Can he convince her he's worth the plunge into the unknown?

Another great continuing series. You can also read this one alone or buy the entire series so far. This is a quick read you can enjoy snuggled up on your couch for the evening. Tori and Brody work together with the other Kent brothers in their construction business. Last Christmas Brody surprised Tori when he hauled off and gave her a scorching kiss. He doesn't know that Tori has had a crush on him forever and is probably in love with him. Tori also has no family to speak of and the Kent family pretty much took her in when she came to work for them and she doesn't want to lose that so she has been avoiding Brody ever since. Plus he has a playboy love em and leave em reputation around town. No heartbreak for her. Brody  has his work cut out for him if he wants to capture her heart. Think he can manage it without screwing it up at least once or twice? Ah the fun is reading and finding out. A must read! I very much enjoyed this one too. 5 out of 5 stars for The Best Thing!

Ask Her at Christmas by Christi Barth

Caitlin McIntyre’s heart stops when her best friend drops to one knee and proposes. Kyle Lockhart never once hinted over the years that he has any idea she’s in love with him. Not wanting to jeopardize their friendship, she’s never let it slip. Good thing, too, since it turns out he’s only practicing—he’s about to propose to someone else.

A business merger might not be the most romantic reason to propose to a woman he barely knows, but Kyle’s determined to win the respect of the dying father who’s never seen him as quite good enough. Kyle’s always depended on Caitlin’s friendship, while trying to ignore the physical response she arouses. So he turns to her when it comes time to craft his proposal, not realizing his decision will affect their relationship, forever.

This Christmas, Kyle and Caitlin get one last chance to admit their feelings for each other, and find a mutual happily ever after, before he commits his life to another woman and Caitlin leaves town and him…for good.

This is a new to me author so i didn't know what to expect. Caitlin is best friends with Kyle and both are in love with each other but neither one knows it. When Kyle proposes Caitlin is stunned and then knocked back when she finds out he's only practicing so he can ask another woman. This one didn't really work for me. The characters are all kind of shallow and/or mean. It wasn't very uplifting  or fun for a holiday book. I did like the ending where Kyle finally got a clue and also a backbone. I would still give this author another chance. This was only a novella which isn't enough to judge if you like a author or not. Unfortunately this one is only 2 out 5 stars for me.

Overall Romancing the Holiday anthology as a whole is a solid 4 out of 5 stars. Definitely worth picking up and reading. HelenKay Dimon and Jaci Burton's novella's are totally worth it.

Book review Season for Sin (novella) (Sinful Scoundrels)by Vicky Dreiling

Photobucket

Available now

Introducing the Sinful Scoundrels...

The Earl of Bellingham is nothing is not a creature of habit: money, meals, and mistresses must be strictly managed if a man is to have a moment's peace. It's a system that works splendidly for him--until now. With his oldest and dearest friends succumbing, one by one, to wedded bliss, Bell is now restless and a trifle lonely. Enter the Sinful Scoundrels--Colin Brockhurst, Earl of Ravenshire, and Harry Norcliffe, Viscount Evermore--who drag him back into society and draw his rakish eye to the ton's new beautiful young widow. Bell isn't after a wife, but a challenge. And Laura Davenport should fit the bill quite nicely...

This is a great little Vicky Dreiling novella. It's more or less a intro into her new series Sinful Scoundrels. The first part is spent kind of introducing you to all the players and you wait to see them all finally to meet up together on the page. I was not disappointed when it finally happens either. You have these little misses where they are all in the area and even run onto each other but don't know who the other is or what they'll mean to them later. Gets pretty good when it finally happens. Then it's over and you are ready for book 1. Your in luck too because when you buy this book you also get a free preview in the form of chapter one of book one in the series " What a Wicked Earl Wants". Which worked for me because i really wanted to see what happens right after the end of the novella. Now i am looking forward to reading the full book when it comes out in the spring of 2013.  4 out of 5 Modokker book picks for A Season for Sin by Vicky Dreiling.

Book review: How you Remind me (novella) by Julie Leto

Photobucket

Rock n’ roll musician Shaw Tyler has a secret…he’s spent an amazing night in Kate Schaffer’s bed. Trouble is, she doesn’t remember a thing. Since then, Kate has avoided any personal interactions with him, keeping everything strictly business. He wants to remind her about what happened–and what didn’t–but first, he has to get her see him for who he really is.

Kate used to live a wild and crazy life, drinking and partying to offset her stressful hours as a corporate attorney. After a scary black-out, Kate cleaned up her act and changed careers. Since then, she’s had a more stable life…but also a more boring one. She longs for a sexy liaison like in the old days and who better to hook up with than the wily musician who flirts with her all the time?

Trouble is, Shaw knows things about her…intimate things. Once she figures out how he learned her most personal fantasies, will she let him into her heart or show him the door?

Wow this is one jam packed sexy little novella by Julie Leto. I recently read the Janelle Denison novella Hard to Resist that goes with How you Remind me. You don't have to read them both but it is a lot of fun. Kate Schaffer was a bit of a partier it seems then a scary night where she doesn't remember a thing flips that coin and she becomes prim, proper and respectful. Cuts out all the fun and becomes all business. Quits her job and goes to work for her friend  as a party event planner. Shaw just happens to be the man who saved her that night she doesn't remember. Problem is she doesn't remember him either but that night made her extremely cautious and her past from when she was younger makes her want to stay away from Shaw and what she perceives him to be. Now she offers Shaw something he very much wants to take but first he has to set the record straight and confess what really happened that night. This is a short sexy 45 page book. Perfect quick little read that i really enjoyed and of course wished for it to be longer. I would very much enjoy more from this author. 5 out of 5 Modokker Book stars for How You Remind Me by Julie Leto.

Book review: Hard to Resist( The Girl Most likely to..) (novella) by Janelle Denison

Photobucket

Available now!

Hard To Resist

Ever wonder what happened to the girl most likely to… Give a Guy a Second Chance?
Renee Griffen always did have a thing for Jake Copeland, especially since they’d been each other’s “firsts” in high school. But now, ten years later, he’s offering her a sexy “do-over” of that less-than-satisfying night, and Renee finds his offer hard to refuse. Jake might have blundered their first time together, but he’s all about second chances, and this time he’s playing for keeps.

This is a short novella and follow up to her story in Guy Most Likely to Resist novella. You don't have to read the first novella to read this one though. I haven't... yet. I plan on it though. Renee Griffen reconnects with Jake Copeland 10 years after high school when they find each other in the social media website Facebook. They were each other's first time before graduation and then went their separate ways. Renee is a world traveler and travel agent and Jake works in a marketing firm. They used skype to talk and see each other and hot make out sessions. Problem is she lives in Chicago and he lives in Atlanta  The ten year class reunion is coming up and they use that for a good reason to see each other in person and redo their first time together. Hopefully with betterlonger lasting results. Both are wondering if the others feelings are more than just old friends and it all falls apart when Renee find out a big secret Jake has been keeping. This is a quick sexy read that is a very enjoyable fun hour worth of reading. I would love to see this as a longer book but even with the short amount of pages i didn't feel cheated but i definitely wanted more. 5 out of 5 Modokker Book Pick Stars for Hard to Resist by Janelle Denison

Book Review and Giveaway: Kissing Kris Kringle by Erin Quinn

Erin Quinn
Available now in ebook format only .99 cents Amazon and B&N

KISSING KRIS KRINGLE

Kris Kringle is just an average guy living in the tiny town of North Pole, Maine where Christmas isn’t just a holiday—it’s a way of life. But not for Kris. He might be named after the big guy in red, but Kris is more Scrooge than Santa.

Until he wakes up from a night of partying with his friends to find himself in possession of a Santa suit, a toy bag and a puppy. Kris soon discovers that he’s been relegated to Santa’s naughty list and there’s only one way to get his name removed....put on the suit and spread some cheer.

Lucky for Kris every cloud has a silver snowflake and his quest to get off that list lands him in the arms of the woman he’s been lusting after for years.

It takes a little magic, but Kris is about to get everything he didn’t even know he wanted for Christmas.

This is a short little novella well worth the 99 cent price tag for some fun Christmas reading. Kris is kind of the town scrooge. When he was a boys his dad was a UPS driver out working on Christmas eve when he was hit and killed by a drunk driver. Not to many years later his mom died too and he thinks it was from a broken heart no matter what the doctors said. Because of this he hates Christmas. Thing is he lives in a town called North Pole and all the streets there have Christmas themed names and it seems all the people do too. Kind of hard to get away from Christmas in December at least. After a night of to much drinking with friends he finds himself in the possession of a Santa suit complete with bag and a puppy. Hard as he tries he can't get out of wearing the suit. In doing so he gets to be around a long lost love of his from his school years, Holly. Can he find love and find his Christmas spirit? What do you think? lol This is the cutest story with a dash of sexy to with it. I love how the whole book has a Christmas theme even the characters names. I give Kissing Kris Kringle 4 out of 5 Modokker Book Picks stars. A definite pick me up if you need to get into the Christmas spirit.

All I Want For Christmas

All they want for Christmas is you…

It's the time of year for twinkling lights on trees and kisses under the mistletoe. Yet the passing of another year means nothing to the stunning immortals who lurk in the shadows of the new-fallen snow.

And they don't care if you've been naughty or nice.

Let four fanged lovers open your eyes to a passion you never dared to imagine. After all, there's no place like home for the holidays—and these dazzling vampires can't wait for an invitation.

I've never read a anthology Christmas paranormal book before. This was new for me and i enjoyed trying it out. There are four stories by four great authors but it was kind of hit or miss for me. The first one Enchanted by Blood by Laurie London was pretty good. I like the idea of the vampire that's a corporate guy and a man in charge. Poor guy had to give up his true love for duty or so he thought. A chance run in with her a year later and he's in the soup all over again but this time he doesn't want to let her go. Give it a A! The 2nd one is Monsters Don't do Christmas by Michele Hauf was OK but not my favorite. The guy Daniel was a big shot before a late night attack left him a vampire and then he started feeling sorry for himself. He was a good guy but he was slightly wimpy in my mind. Olivia was just not that believable to me. I know it's fiction but her character didn't work for me. The story was enjoyable but not my favorite. I'll give is a C. The 3rd is When Herald Angels sing by Caridad Pineiro.  This one was good but probably could have been a whole lot better as a full story instead of a novella. It could use a lot more details and well time. Everything happens quickly. Reminded me of the movie A Christmas Carol. Kind of the same concept but with vampires. The guy Damien has had a hard life and lives his life rough but the Archangel Raphael thinks he could be redeemed and enlists Angelina as his guardian angel to help him find the error of his ways. Turns out they both needed to learn a lesson. Good read. I'll give it a B. The last one was my favorite. All i want for Christmas by Alexis Morgan. Might be my love of Alpha males but i loved the characters in this one. Eaghan is a hotter than hell vampire cop. He's trying to bust some vamps who are being bad and has to use the diner owned by Della as cover. Problem is they are attracted to each other and Della is human. She doesn't know about vampires or werewolves and fae. She's going to find out because they are all around her. This one would be awesome as a full book. By far my favorite. I'd give it a A! The book as a whole was enjoyable and of the four authors i have only read  one before so it was a intro to the other authors writing as well which is always a neat side effect to anthology books. I give A Vampire for Christmas 3 and 1/2 Modokker Book Pick stars.
