ARC Book review: Guilty Pleasure (Bound Hearts #11) by Lora Leigh

6627278

Available and a reissue April 5th 2016
eARC Provided by publisher through Netgalley

Marty Mathews had always known about the secret, forbidden pleasures that the women she had grown up with enjoyed. Women whose husbands or lovers were members of the exclusive "Club," where they took a selected "third" into their beds. And there is one man—a dangerous, forbidden man—who is part of this world and who has haunted Marty's dreams for years. But she had been the FBI agent assigned to shadow him, making him completely off limits. . .That is until Khalid is cleared and Marty is released from her assignment. Now, all bets are off. . .

The beautiful, fierce Marty Mathews is the one woman Khalid hungers for like no other and is the one woman he dare not let himself have. His past dogs his every step and danger lurks around every corner. If he wants to keep her safe, he must stay away from her. But the power of their desire is something they cannot deny—and once Marty is his, Khalid will do whatever it takes to keep her in his bed and in his arms.

Khalid and Marty have been secondary characters in other books in this series. Lora Leigh finally gives them their time in this book. Khalid has been under surveillance by Marty a FBI agent for two years. Now that time has come to a end and Marty has had enough. Khalid needs to claim her or she is moving on. Problem is Khalid has some pretty big secrets and he shares those with very few people. Danger follows him so if he claims her danger will follow her too. The best description for this book is erotic suspense. Marty and Khalid dance around their relationship with each other. Will they or won't they have a relationship for real. In between all this a terrorist is after Khalid. I loved Shayne. I kind of liked him better than Khalid for Marty and i LOVED Khalid in previous books. I enjoyed Marty's fathers and mom. The fathers were kind of funny together. I don't think the relationship between Marty and Khalid had enough time to develop in this book. They met when Marty was 15 i believe but he's spent years ignoring and dodging her so when he finally gives in to his feeling it's kind of fast and rough and then the book is over. The ending felt rushed. There was serious danger out of no where and then bamm it's over. I think the story needed more. I read this back in 2010 and i remember liking it more then.

Book review: Beyond Jealousy (Beyond #4) by Kit Rocha

 photo 16049680_zpsb590877b.jpg
Release Date: March 17th, 2013!
She’s been looking for the perfect man. She found two.
When Rachel Riley sacrificed a life in Eden to protect the O’Kanes, she earned her place in the powerful Sector Four gang. But the former crime princess is tired of being everyone’s sweet little sister . It’s time for her to get wild, to embrace her fantasies as only an O’Kane can—with a delicious exiled soldier and the gang’s wickedly sinful tattoo artist.
A saint...
Lorenzo Cruz is a warrior, taught by his commanding officers in Eden that involvement equals distraction. Emotion is a liability, and desire a sin.  In Sector Four, he finds decadence, shameless sex—and his own dark urges. No battle strategy prepared him for how Rachel makes his heart race…or the way his rival for her affections sets his blood on fire.
...and a sinner.
Ace Santana has a dirty reputation and a mind to match, especially where his new lovers are concerned.  He’s eager to help Cruz embrace his dominant side, and to explore the lines between pleasure and pain with Rachel. But corrupting them quickly becomes an obsession, a need he can’t deny—and a love he never imagined.
Three hearts on the line means a hundred ways their ménage a trois could go wrong. After all, even O’Kanes do forever two-by-two.  One of them could be the missing piece that makes them all whole…or a temporary diversion destined for a broken heart.
There has been much anticipation for this book by fans of the series. Yes that includes me. I wasn't sure how the author was going to make a relationship between Cruz, Ace and Rachel work. Part of me wondered if the author would let it work out in the end or not. Very twisty possibilities. We've had hints in pasts books what the history of these three characters were like but we finally get an idea where they all came from. Each has a very different background and i found myself at the beginning thinking Rachel would be the main focus and three of them but it is in fact Ace who has the hardest time believing he is worthy of love and capable of giving it. How Kit Rocha handles the three of them negotiating their way into a hopefully solid relationship is well done with none of the three being dominate the whole time. Each has their moments of vulnerability which is interesting considering these are O'Kanes and O'Kanes are tough SOB's!  The sex scenes are to die for hot just like you would expect but for me they were better because for a menage i could follow what was going on and it felt like more than just sex between the three. I don't know how the author was able to do that but i was pleasantly surprised that i felt a connection with the three which i think is hard to do with a menage.  The sex and the relationship factor isn't the only thing intense in this book though. The O'Kanes find themselves in a all out street brawl to protect their sector. It gets pretty crazy and not everyone comes out unscathed. I started to wonder if the book was going to end with a death. I kept thinking NO WAY!! Not going to tell you what happens but i will say this series keeps me coming back for more.

Book review: The Professional: Part 3 (The Game Maker #1.3)by Kresley Cole

 photo 18223625_zps145a7477.jpg

Part 3 available January 20th
Are you ready to play?
Yet all is not as it seems. To remove Natalie from an enemy's reach, Sevastyan spirits her into hiding. From an opulent palace in Russia to the decadent playgrounds of the mega-wealthy in Paris, the two lovers will discover that even their darkest - and most forbidden - fantasies can come true…

This is the third and last part of The Professional The Game Maker book 1. If you have been following along with my reviews for the first two parts you know what a exciting book this has been. To quickly recap Natalie meets Sevastyan in a bar when she tries to pick him up. Little does she know that he knows exactly who she is and that he's been watching her for a while now and protecting her. Natalie wanted to know who her birth parents were and now she knows her father is a Russian Mafia boss. Sevastyan is a hitman of sorts that works for him but there is so much to him and as the story goes on in it's three parts you find out more about him and Natalie finds out more about herself. At the end of part 2 were left with a big exciting cliffhanger where Sevastyan takes Natalie to a BDSM sex club because she wants to explore her sexual side and Sevastyan wants to shock her.  You are not disappointed by what's behind the curtain.  In part 3 you finally get to the meaty part of Sevastyan and his past.  The story is emotional, sexy and exciting. I felt like i was on a fast train heading to the end. For me it kind of ended really fast though. Sevastyan was so resistant to give up his secrets and when he finally did he did it all at once and that was it and then the books just wraps up a little to nicely. I felt like i blinked and it was over. Did that take away from my enjoyment at all? Heck no. I'm holding out hope that Kresley Cole is going to do another book for Sevastyan's Brother and Natalie's friend Jess.  For me this book as a whole was good because of the excellent writing and humor and the all the characters likeability. If you love Sexy Russian men with dark pasts who are into kink and BDSM  you can't get any better than this. This was my first Kresley Cole book and i know i am coming back for more.

Book review: Matzoh and Mistletoe by Jodie Griffin

 photo Carina_1113_9781426897450_MatzohMistletoe_zps6bace471.jpg

Available November 21st
Carina Press
Every December twenty-fifth, Rebeccah Rickman volunteers through her synagogue so that others can celebrate Christmas. Her usual mitzvah, or good deed, is assisting police officer Jeremy Kohler. But this year is different: this year, Becca is free to act on the attraction that has long simmered between her and the sexy cop.

Jeremy couldn’t have asked for a better gift than discovering the woman he’s fantasized about for five long years is single. But when he learns about the violence that broke up Becca’s marriage, he’s hesitant to pursue her. He fears his desires will scare her away—but can’t deny his own need for control in the bedroom. Or his longing to instruct her in the fine art of submission…

Becca is shocked to learn that Jeremy is a sexual dominant. And despite her past, she’s also aroused. But before she can explore what that means, she’s going to have to put her trust in Jeremy—and her own fledgling desires.

This a steamy little light BDSM novella.  Rebecca Rickman is a jewish girl who likes to help volunteer her time at Christmas helping out at the local police station. Five years ago she when she first volunteers she meets sexy cop Jeremy Kohler. Jeremy finds her sweet and sexy but very married. He knows she's hands off but he can't help his attraction to her so he requests her as his volunteer every year. This year is different though.  Becca is now divorced from what turns out is a verbally abusive husband. It took her a while to figure out her marriage was over. The verbal attacks where bad but when he finally strikes her she knows she's all done. Now here she is with Jeremy on patrol and once he finds out she's free he knows he wants her. Problem is he's not sure she can handle the sexual lifestyle he likes. Once they have a discussion about it though Jeremy takes his time slowly introducing her to the D/s type of relationship he enjoys. This is a fast sexy read that's not over the top BDSM. The relationship between the two is hesitant at first as each finally gets the chance to explore what they could have together in a potential relationship and in bed. The only thing i would've liked to see more of is the conflict with Rebecca's ex-husband when he tries to intimidate her at the end.  I thought it would be more confrontational.  Jodie Griffin does a awesome job as always balancing  sexy erotic and sweet story! 4 out  of 5 stars for Matzoh and Mistletoe by Jodie Griffin.

Book review: Beyond Pain (Beyond #3) by Kit Rocha

 photo 16049679_zps1dbd7c2b.jpg

Available now!!
A woman with no future…

Live fast, die young–anything else is a fantasy for Six. She’s endured the worst the sectors had to throw at her, but falling in with Dallas O’Kane’s Sector Four gang lands her in a whole new world of danger. They’re completely open about everything, including their sexuality–but she hasn’t survived this long by making herself vulnerable. Especially not to men as dominant as Brendan Donnelly.

A man without a past…

Bren is a killer, trained in Eden and thrown to the sectors. His one outlet is pain, in the cage and in the bedroom, and emotion is a luxury he can’t afford–until he meets Six. Protecting her soothes him, but it isn’t enough. Her hunger for touch sparks a journey of erotic discovery where anything goes–voyeurism, flogging, rough sex. He has only one rule: he won’t share her.

In Bren’s arms, Six is finally free to let go. But his obsession with the man who made him a monster could destroy the fragile connection they’ve forged, and cost him the one thing that makes him feel human–her love.

I'm not even sure where to start with this book. If you have not read the series than you MUST! It's become one of the best erotic genre series out there for me. It's not just a lot of hot sex. It's a continuing story with an elaborate framework of world building and various interesting and sometimes explosive characters.  This is book three in the series and Bren and Six's story. They are not new characters and have been present in previous books. It's their time to take center stage however and find out about them that we've only seen hints of so far. Six has had to be tough and learn to freeze her emotions to survive a life she had in the now dead Sector 3. There she was forced to have sex and have her life threatened repeatedly along with being beat by their now dead leader. There is no trust left in her for anyone. She doesn't understand Sector 4 at all or Dallas O'Kane their leader. Bren is former military. Part of a team and brotherhood until he was betrayed by his commander. He was forced to set someone up and then took for the fall for it and was kicked out of the military and city Eden to the sectors.  Bren eventually gets into sector 4 and becomes part of Dallas O'Kane's gang. When Six shows up he's interested in her. He gets is protective of her and knows he has to move slowly and help her heal and earn her trust. With her past it's not going to be a easy thing. In their story you finally get details about Six and Bren's history and Six's real name. Bren is tapped to help start straightening out Sector 3 since the O'Kane's are taking it over. He takes six with him because of course she knows the place and people there well. In working on sector three it puts the man who ruined Bren's life  back into play and Bren kind of loses his mind for a while when he sees a chance for revenge at all costs.  That cost just might be Six! Wow this story is captivating. The hot sizzling sex scenes are great but there is so much more to this book than the sex. It only enhances everything. You get a peak at previous characters and hints at the characters that will take center stage in the next book.  The O'kanes are not just a gang though there a family. The guys are tough SOB's but sexy and sweet as hell while the ladies are tough in their own way but still feminine and vulnerable when needed. The men come come off as powerful but it's the woman that are ultimately in charge.  Makes for one sexy series!  5 out of stars for Beyond Pain by Kit Rocha.

Audiobook review:Bared to You (Crossfire #1) by Sylvia Day

 photo 13572249_zps5befc402.jpg

Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness… He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…

Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds…and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as i prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...

This is book one of the Crossfire series. This series has been a huge hit with readers all over. I have not read the paperback version of this book so i'm not sure if it would have the same effect as the audiobook has had on me.  Gideon Cross is one of the top 25 richest people. He looks it and acts like it in public. He's good at putting on the right face when needed. No one really know who or what he really is. Then Gideon meets Ava Trumell. Ava just moved to NYC from California and is starting a new job in the Crossfire building with a advertising agency. A chance meeting in the buildings lobby changes everything for both Gideon and Ava. Gideon and Ava have a lot of secrets. Both have backgrounds of abuse. Just how that effects their personal lives though is revealed inch by inch when they become involved with each other.  A relationship for either one of them will never be easy since they have trust issues and pasts that are not the best for happy endings. The voice work on this is awesome! Probably the best I've ever had the pleasure of listening too.  There narrator's voice makes each character stand out on it's own. No two sound the same or even similar. Gideon comes across as sounding sexy just like you would imagine him. Overall with the voice work and the story you can't find better. 5 out of 5 stars for Bared to you (audiobook) by Sylvia Day.

Book review: Mine to Take by Cynthia Eden

 photo 18053913_zps84d49afa.jpg

Available June 12th 2013
Sometimes you want someone so much…
Sometimes you need someone so much…
Lust can become love.
And love can turn into a deadly obsession.

***

Skye Sullivan knows that someone is watching her. Not just watching—stalking her. Months ago, Skye was involved in a dangerous car accident. The accident ended her dancing career and sent her fleeing back to Chicago. Skye is convinced that her stalker caused the crash, and she fears that he won’t stop pursuing her, not until she’s dead.

When someone breaks into her apartment in Chicago, Skye turns to the one man she believes can protect her—Trace Weston. Once, Trace was her lover. Two lost souls, they’d come together in a firestorm of need and desire. But then Trace had pushed her away. He’d joined the military, vanishing from her life. She’d put all of her emotion into dancing, and she’d tried to forget him.

Now Trace is one of the most successful men in the United States. Rich, driven, and carrying dark secrets, he agrees to help Skye. He’ll protect her from the danger that lurks in the darkness, but Trace wants more than to just be a guard for Skye.

He wants her. And he’ll take her. The years have changed him, hardened him. He’s not just a poor kid from the streets any longer. Now, he can have anything—or anyone—that he wants. And the one woman he has always wanted has just come back into his life. He won’t let her go again.

But with the threats mounting against Skye, she suspects that her stalker may be intimately close. He’s a man who knows her too well. As his attacks grow ever more dangerous, she realizes that if she trusts the wrong man, she could be making a fatal mistake.

Lust. Love. Obsession.

Just how far would you go in order to possess the one person you want the most?

Author's Note: MINE TO TAKE is a sexy romantic suspense novella—it contains approximately 41,000 words. MINE TO TAKE is intended for adults. Sexy situations and adult language will be found within the pages of this story—please consider yourself warned.

This is a 150 novella that's part thriller part suspense with a healthy dose of sexy romance tossed in. The book takes place 10 years after Trace and Skye have broken up. He pretty much threw her up for her own good although she didn't know that. She thought he didn't want her anymore. Skye was this phenomenal dancer and he knew for her to succeed he needed to let her go. It killed him to do that but he did. What he didn't know is she would have given up everything to be with him. Ten years later though she comes to him as a last resort because she thinks someones been stalking her and possibly trying to kill her.  Trace has his own security firm and has connections and is rich now. He takes over Skye's lief pretty much to find out what's going on.  Who is the stalker? Is there a stalker? There is so much packed into these pages. Lots of secrets to unravel and a mystery or two. Can love last after so many years apart and so much hurt? This is action packed. Cynthia Eden drags you right into the middle of it. Can't wait for the follow up to this! 4 out of 5 stars for Mine to Take by Cynthia Eden.

Audiobook review: Reflected in You (Crossfire #2) by Sylvia Day

 photo cross_zps4f52768c.jpg

Available now!
Gideon Cross. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn't stay away. I didn't want to. He was my addiction... my every desire... mine.

My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. We’d never work. It was too hard, too painful... except when it was perfect. Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity.

We were bound by our need. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession..

I have to start out by saying i did not read or listen to book one so i came into this with book 2. A friend gave me this audiobook. All i can say is WOW! While a few things left me confused because i did not read book one. ( I will soon)  I took me about 3 lines in to get hooked into the story. Gideon and Ava are both seriously messed up. Events from their pasts have given them both serious trust issues among other things.  Their relationship starts in book one and continues in this book.  If you thought it was good in book form you really need to try it in audio. The voice work is superb.  Gideon sounds like the hot sexy guy he comes across as in the story.  Every voice is different and distinct.  You feel like your there living it. You can picture pretty much everything in your head. You feel the frustrations and happiness of the characters along with all the other emotions in between. One of the best audiobooks i have had the pleasure of listening too. Looking forward to book 3 Entwined in you available June 4th. 5 out of 5 stars for Reflected in you by Sylvia Day.

Book review: King Cobra (Hot Rods #1) by Jayne Rylon

 photo jayne_zps4d18a383.jpg

Available now!
Nothing’s sexier than seven men with hot rods.

Hot Rods, Book 1

After Eli’s mother died, his father honored her life’s mission as a social worker by taking in several kids from the wrong side of the tracks. Not all of them stuck, but those who did became Eli’s quasi family.

Their bonds, forged in fires set by their personal demons, are unbreakable—or so Eli wants to believe. Especially since he and Alanso, his best friend and head mechanic, witnessed the overpowering allure of polyamory while visiting the Powertools crew.

Much as Eli would like to deepen the relationships among his foster brothers and sister in the Hot Rods Restoration Team, he’s hesitant to risk everything on a quick romp behind a stack of tires.

But when Eli catches Alanso exploring their mutual fantasy at a known hookup spot in a public park, all bets are off. And Eli must decide if it’s time to jump in full throttle—and trust his instincts to guide him through the night. If the pair of mechanics can dodge the potholes in their own relationship, maybe they can race together toward the unconventional arrangement with Mustang Sally they both desire.

Warning: Fasten your seatbelts, this is going to be a wild (and naughty) ride!

Wow! Jayne Rylon has done it again. King Cobra is book one in the HOT RODS series. Kind of a spin off from the Power tools series.  The series is about a group of mechanics led by Eli London.  In one of  the Power Tools series books Eli and Alanso another of the mechanics visit the crew and get a eyeful of how their relationships work. Ever since then things have been tense between the two mechanics.  It finally comes down to embracing what might be or possibly losing what they have. This book is sizzling hot erotica, down and dirty. Be warned a head of time. There is a lot of history between the member of this group. Eli's dad took each one under his wing and helped them get to be where they are now and Eli became their leader and is very protective of them all.  All the mechanics are introduced in this book but the main focus is Alanso and Eli and a little of Sally.  I think this series is a going to be a slow burn that gets hotter and hotter as you read! 4 out of 5 stars for King Cobra by Jayne Rylon.

Book review: Beyond Control (Beyond #2) by Kit Rocha

 photo 16049677_zpsb5f56dbe.jpg

Available as of March 14th
She refuses to be owned.

Alexa Parrino escaped a life of servitude and survived danger on the streets to become one of the most trusted, influential people in Sector Four, where the O’Kanes rule with a hedonistic but iron fist. Lex has been at the top for years, and there’s almost nothing she wouldn’t do for the gang…and for its leader. Lie, steal, kill—but she bows to no one, not even Dallas O’Kane.

He’ll settle for nothing less.

Dallas fought long and hard to carve a slice of order out of the chaos of the sectors. Dangers both large and small threaten his people, but it’s nothing he can’t handle. His liquor business is flourishing, and new opportunities fuel his ambition. Lex could help him expand his empire, something he wants almost as much as he wants her. And no one says no to the king of Sector Four.

Falling into bed is easy, but their sexual games are anything but casual. Attraction quickly turns to obsession, and their careful dance of heady dominance and sweet submission uncovers a need so deep, so strong, it could crush them both.

Beyond Control is book 2 in the Beyond series by Kit Rocha. It continues the series with Lex (Alexa) and Dallas (Declan). Dallas is the king if Sector 4. What he says goes. The only one who every got around that is Lex. Lex does a stupid thing and forces Dallas to claim her and Mark her as his when he collars her. They'll either finally work out there differences and secrets or they'll crash and burn.  Lot's of Alpha guys in this series but they are matched against women who are not pushed easily around which makes it fun to read. Watching Lex and Dallas try to figure out how to love each other and yet run sector 4 and not show weakness to those watching is a interesting journey. We get to see more of the other sectors and their leaders and more of the other characters in the series. All of this helps expand the world the book takes place in but does not take away from the time dedicated to Dallas as Lex. Alot goes on but you don't get lost in it all. The author finds the right balance of all the elements needed to make this a killer book. Sex scenes are fantastic and the relationships draw you in. Plus you get to see glimpses of what's coming next. Drool worthy reading. 4 out of 5 stars for Beyond Control by Kit Rocha.

Book review: Beyond Shame (Beyond #1) by Kit Rocha

 photo kit_zpsd2f07910.jpg

Available now with book 2 ( Beyond Control) available now as now as well.

All Noelle Cunningham has ever wanted is a life beyond–beyond the walls of Eden, where only the righteous are allowed to remain, and beyond her stiflingly restrictive existence as a councilman’s daughter. But only ruins lie outside the City, remnants of a society destroyed by solar storms decades earlier.

The sectors surrounding Eden house the corrupt, the criminal–men like Jasper McCray, bootlegger and cage fighter. Jas clawed his way up from nothing to stand at the right hand of Sector Four’s ruthless leader, and he’ll defend the O’Kane gang with his life. But no fight ever prepared him for the exiled City girl who falls at his feet.

Her innocence is undeniable, but so is their intense sexual attraction, and soon they’re crossing every boundary Noelle barely knew she had. But if she wants to belong to Jas, first she’ll have to open herself to the gang, to a dangerous world of sex, lust and violence. A world where passion is power, and freedom is found in submission.

I had heard lots of things here and there on twitter mostly about this book. Then a friend of mine asked me if i had read it and i said no but decided i needed to check out the author's website and read a the blurb and excerpt and see what the fuss was about.  You can do that plus the first 3 chapters if you want. I did and decided YES i did need to read this. I have not read a lot of dystopian themed books and certainly not one that's jointly themed with erotica.  Based on the first three chapter's i thought i would like it although i was afraid it might get to heavy on the sex and not enough story. I was wrong. The books opens wtih Noelle Cunningham being kicked out of Eden. This is where all the civilized people live now and laden with strict rules about everything. Her dad is a councilman so she is privileged supposedly but in reality she's more of a prisoner than anything. Told how to live and what to do and how to feel or not feel. She runs smack into Jasper McCray literally. He takes her under his protection along with Lex another woman in the sector who is linked to Dallas the man who runs Sector 4 where she is. Where Eden is  the place civilized people live, everyone else lives in sectors each run by a leader who can control everyone in it. Here almost anything goes. It's dangerous and the people are fighting for freedom and a chance to live. Totally different from Eden and Noelle slowly learns how to feel and how to be her own person. The world building is slow and steady and paced along with the story as it moves along. The pace is even, leaving you with a chance to absorb everything you read and thank goodness for that. The characters feel real and fleshed out. I fell in love with the men of course. The women were pretty cool too though. This is seriously one of the hottest erotica books i have read. From start to finish i was engrossed in the story and left wanting more. Lucky for everyone this is only book one so there is more coming. Three more so far based on the author's website. Good for me and good for you. 5 out of 5 stars for Beyond Shame by Kit Rocha.

Forbidden Fires (Bondage & Breakfast #3) by Jodie Griffin

 photo forbidden_zps362318f4.jpg

Available April 1st!
A year ago, Detective Delia Robinson and Fire Marshal Colin Butler got up close and personal while working a case. But their sizzling relationship didn’t last. Now there’s a serial arsonist on the loose, and it’s up to Delia and Colin to bring him down—if they can resist their attraction long enough to concentrate on the investigation.

Delia quickly sees the connection between the crime scenes: elements of BDSM. Though she denies it, Colin is stunned by the realization that his former lover is aroused by the idea of bondage play. And suddenly he can’t stop fantasizing about being the one to bind her…

Unsure how Colin would react, Delia never revealed her desire to be dominated in the bedroom. But she’ll finally have the chance to find out when they go deep undercover—as a married couple at a B&B offering classes in domination and submission…

Forbidden Fires is part of the Bondage and Breakfast series but like the other books you can read it as a stand alone. I have enjoyed each book in the series and this one is right on par with the others if not hotter.  Delia and Colin had a short but sizzling hot affair about a year ago. It ended badly with hurt feeling and confusion on both sides. Neither forgot the other and when a serial arsonist threatens Colin draws Delia in to help again.   After looking at the clues and doing some investigating with Colin, Delia sees that BDSM is what connects all the fires and the deaths. They also find out that all the couples where the fires occured also attended a weekend retreat at Gabe's bed and breakfast where he teaches BDSM. If you have read the previous books you see a bit of Gabe in each book.  For me i love Gabe and can't wait for him to get his own book. Colin and Delia get more than they bargain for when they arrive at the BDSM and have to pretend to be a married couple and actually participate.  Makes for a interesting situation for both, plus you get a little of that sexy Gabe in there too. This is a hot, sexy read you can finish  in one interesting evening! 5 out of 5 stars for Forbidden Fires by Jodie Griffin. 5 out of 5 stars for Forbidden Fires by Jodie Griffin>

Book review: Return to Sender by Annabeth Albert

 photo returntosender_zpse062c895.jpg

Available now.
Jack Donovan and Bree Hendricks have been in hot competition since their school days, whether it’s tussling over the best apartment or bickering over local leash laws. Bree has never turned down a challenge, so when her new toy in its brown paper packaging is delivered to Jack’s doorstep by mistake, it’s the perfect opportunity for a game of truth or dare.

Bree is determined to set a good example for her teenage daughter, and that means no flirting, no flings and definitely no one night stands. But a bout of saucy cybersex demonstrating her new dildo…there’s no danger in that. Unless Bree allows her heart to become involved.

This was the first book I have read by the author Annabeth Albert. Wasn't sure what to expect but was happily surprised! Jack and Bree have been in competition for something it seems forever. Annabeth feels she slipped up and made a mistake getting pregnant young, getting married to the guy and messed missing college to take care of her infant daughter not that she regrets having the baby. Since then though she's determined to be a good example to her daughter. That means no more mistakes. Jack would be a mistake but he is a big temptation. Jack might appear like a whatever go with the flow guy who chases anything in a skirt but Bree hurt him years ago in high school. He's always respected her and the way she's always taken care of her daughter but she doesn't see it. Finally his chance comes when a package that embarrasses Bree ends up in his hands and he takes advantage of it.  He plays a little game with her to get her to see what she means to him but it takes her a while to get it. This is a sassy sexy story. A whole lot of hot. 5 out 5 stars for Return to Sender by Annabeth Albert. If you haven't read this author you need to check this out.

Book review: Red Hot Holiday! (Anthology) Anne Calhoun, K.A. Mitchell, Leah Braemel

Photobucket

Out on December 3rd 2012
I’ll be home for Christmas…to fulfill all your dreams.

This holiday, a Mountie is determined to get her man. A widow finds a fireman who ignites her passions again. And two men unsure of their commitment discover a happily ever after—and a blindfold—under their tree. No matter your desires, this collection of three shorts is bound to treat you to all the joys of the season.

Edited by Angela James, this anthology includes:

I Need You for Christmas by Leah Braemel
Breath on Embers by Annie Calhoun
Wish List by K.A. Mitchell

Red Hot Holiday is a tis the season type anthology of 3 sizzling erotica novella's. While i love anthologies i have trouble reigning in all my thoughts when it comes to reviewing them. First up is Wish List by K.A Mitchell.

Blindfolds. Handcuffs. Submission.
There's so much Jonah Kendrick hasn't tried, and so much he wants to explore. But just before Christmas he finds a ring box in his boyfriend's desk. Jonah panics. He loves Evan and their sex is hot, but how can Jonah be ready for forever, when there are so many items on his Naughty Bucket List? Desires that might drive Evan away.
Evan's noticed Jonah has been distant. His usually talkative and cheerful boyfriend is preoccupied. The seemingly straitlaced Evan stumbles across Jonah's wish list of sexual kinks, and Evan realizes he may not have to hide his true nature from Jonah after all. The Dom in him wants to see Jonah on his knees, begging, submitting, but Evan isn't sure Jonah's ready to accept what being Evan's sub would mean.
The two lovers must figure out how to share their hidden desires with each other before their secrets permanently damage their love.
This one is a male on male holiday erotica. Jonah and Evan are pretty different or so each one thinks. Jonah gets scared when he thinks a set of wedding rings he finds are for him and Evan. That gets him thinking about what he might be missing out on if he and Evan decide to stay together forever. He makes a wish list of sorts about sexual things he might want to try. Evan mistakenly finds it and decides to try at making some of them come through. When Jonah doesn't know is that Evan can easily fulfill that wish list. Evan was a Dom previously but he buried that part of himself away. Now it looks likes he might not have to. I enjoyed this one but sometimes i wanted to yell at Jonah and say duh? Can't you see what Evan is trying to show you? lol
Next up is I Need You for Christmas by Leah Braemel.
Ryan Porter is a sculptor, and beneath his callused hands, even the most rigid metals bend to his will. So, too, does his girlfriend Megan—a confident, strong woman who delights in submitting to Ryan’s dominance in the bedroom.
Megan is a Mountie, and she’s spent the past few years in the arctic following her career dreams. Family obligations kept Ryan at home, but their love survived the distance thanks to several hot visits. A Mountie always gets her man, and Megan is bound and determined to keep Ryan.
Now Megan’s with Ryan for the holidays…but how long will this visit last? She’s always been willing to do anything Ryan desires, but will he finally tell her that all he needs for Christmas is her?
In this novella Megan and Ryan have been together for years but mostly living apart and sustaining their relationship on visits. Megan is back though with a surprise for Ryan. Problem is Ryan has a surprise for her too. There are some really hot sex scenes in this novella involving a swing, rope and something made of marble. Ah a artist mind is very clever. The love and romance you feel coming off Megan and Ryan is sigh worthy. Megan being a Mountie is the tough one which is a bit of a flip from the guy being in that roll but it works. I loved both characters so much. Definite red hot read!
Lastly we have Breath  on Embers by Anne Calhoun. I have not read this author but i will be after reading this novella.
Christmas is the perfect time for Firefighter Ronan O’Rourke to take things to the next level with his sexually adventurous girlfriend. He knows she has feelings for him—and he’s sure of his feelings for her—but when Thea refuses his invitation to sample Christmas in New York City because what they share is nothing more than sheet-burning sex, Ronan sets out to change her mind.
Deep down Thea Moretti knows she cares for Ronan, but she can’t move past her grief over her late husband. Loud music and sex with Ronan are the only things she’s got that her feel alive, so she takes as much of both as she can get. She knows Ronan wants more, but during the darkest time of the year finding her way won’t be easy.
Ronan gambles everything and challenges Thea: one night of passion with him and another man. Can he prove to her that what they share isn’t just great sex but an emotional connection strong enough to last forever?

I  have to admit this one was my favorite. Ronan is a fireman in the city of New York. On St Patrick's day this year he met Thea Moretti. It doesn't take long to look into her eyes and see her pain. Ronan is a rescuer in his heart and has been there done that with grief given his line of work. Thea lost her husband in a terrible car accident and moves from Ohio to New York City to get away from all the memories. She's only surviving day to day really though. Then comes Ronan into her life. She's using him for sex and escape.  He wants more and he wants to help her be whole again the way she did that for him. Ronan is an amazingly patient and giving man. Thea is one tough cookie too but Ronan has to keep chipping at her and showing her it's OK to live again. Love this one. Touch my heart. I was rooting for Ronan and Thea the whole way. Warning there is a menage in this novella. Pretty steamy with Ronan's fellow firefighter Tim. Now i want to know more about this Tim guy and see a story for him.

Overall the whole anthology was well worth reading. You can get a taste of erotica in a few different forms so if you have not tried it this is a awesome place to start. Three super sexy hot reads in one ebook! 4 out of 5 stars for Red Hot Holiday!

Book review: Forbidden Desires(Bondage and Breakfast series book 2) by Jodie Griffin

Photobucket

Available November 19th
When it comes to sex, Bella Massey wants a man who’ll get down on his knees and beg. And although she’s got the hots for firefighter Marcus Aiello, she can’t believe an alpha male like him could have a submissive bone in his body.

Marcus isn’t looking for a relationship, but Bella is not like any woman he’s ever met. When he discovers what the sexy librarian is really looking for in a man, he’s even more intrigued. But giving up control is difficult for Marcus—no matter how much he desires it.
Despite their intense attraction, Marcus and Bella’s budding relationship is at an impasse. Until a weekend at a unique B&B offering all manner of naughty nightly activities teaches them both just how good it can feel to lose control…
This ebook is 41,000 words. I don't know how much that translates into number of pages but i can tell you that you can read this in one evening. Sometimes that's just what you need. I did in fact read it in one evening. The first book in this series is Forbidden Fantasies and it's similar in size and some of the characters are in both. Nothing that means you have to read the first one to be able to read the second one. Both totally stand alones. I find it fun to see the characters from previous book to appear though. This has a mild BDSM theme. If you wanted to check out BDSM this is a good place to start to see how you feel about it or if you like light BDSM. Both Bella and Marcus are interested in what goes with BDSM but while there intestested they both struggle on how exactly to go about it. Who is the Dom and who is the Sub? Marcus is pretty much a alpha male but the thought of being tied up and on his knees for Bella thrills him and scares him to death. Both Bella and Marcus recently got out of bad relationships which also shaped their feels and caused trust issues. They keep going back and forth on whether they can make a relationship work. It takes something terrible happening in Marcus' life to bring them together finally and then he takes her away for the weekend to a bed and breakfast that specializes  naughty things to finally figure out they love each other. I like the B&B scenes the best. There is so much angst between them and tension i was so glad when they finally just let themselves go. A great second book for Jodie Griffin.  I am excited to see her continue to grow as she continues to write. 4 out of 5 Stars for Forbidden Desires.

Interview and giveaway with Best Selling Author Beth Williamson!

I was lucky enough to interview the wonderful Beth Williamson. She's a fabulous author and lady. I hope you enjoy the 5 questions i asked her. Watch for the giveaway after the interview. Enjoy!!

1.Can you tell us about your new book " The Perfect Score"?  Is this one going to be a stand alone or part of a series?

Well, The Perfect Score is the series. LOL. It's three novellas in one - ONE NIGHT STAND, WIDOW'S WEEDS and MARLENE'S MAN. These were originally published in 2005 and I've taken back the rights to republish them as a single book. There's a mixture of m/f and f/f, with lots of fun, sex, emotion and an HEA for all three couples.

2. The Perfect Score i noticed is a self published book according to your website. More and more authors seem to be going this route even some who have been around for years. How do you feel about it compared to the traditional route as it applied to yourself.

I think every writer should treat publishing as a business. To that end, I made the decision to self-publish some books. Diversification is the way to build a broad audience, to reach readers that I might not have otherwise. I will continue publishing with Samhain and in New York, but self-publishing offers me another avenue.  I want to take advantage of the opportunities in publishing from all angles.

3. You write several genre's. What are they and which is your favorite to write? Is there one that is more difficult than another?
I write historical westerns, contemporary westerns and erotica. All of them are fun to do and I enjoy every book I've written. My favorite is historical western - there's something about the code cowboys lived by in the west that appeals to me.
Difficulty has nothing to do with the genre, it has to do with the story. If I have a problem writing a story, it's the story that's wrong. I've gone the wrong direction and need to make a right turn.

4. When you are working on a series how do you keep track of everything from one book to another? I have seen authors do pin up boards on Pinterest for a visual.(fans enjoy them as well)  What works for you and helps keep you from pulling your hair out trying to keep track of everyone and everything.
Nothing fancy schmancy for me. I keep track in a simple .txt file - I write down the book, the characters' names, role, ages, birthdays, eye color, hair color, nipple color (yes, really) and if they have a horse, the details on their equine too. :)
Sometimes if I forget a secondary character's name, I write WHATSHISFACE or WHATSHERFACE in the manuscript then go back and fill it in later. I try not to trip over names while I"m writing. No hair pulling required. ;)

5. What can we expect from you in 2013?? Books or appearances? Anything else you want people to know about you and your books?

Ah, 2013. Well, first off, in February, book 3 in the Circle Eight series, CALEB, releases. In April, ENDLESS HEART, releases in print from Samhain. In July, book 4 in the Circle Eight series, VAUGHN, who is the hero to the intelligent Elizabeth Graham, releases. Beyond that I have a new Malloy series prequel I hope to have the first two books published in ebook by Samhain.
I'll be attending the Romantic Times Convention in May in Kansas City. I'll also be at Authors After Dark in Savannah in August and at Lora Leigh's Reader Appreciation Weekend in the fall. I should be at RomCon in Colorado in June as well. Whew!

As far as my books go and what I would like people to know, I write character-driven, emotional, fun, and family-centric stories. My characters are as flawed as all of us, with the same problems we all struggle with. But in the end, love brings them the HEA we all need. Oh, and I weep when I write my own stories. True confession!
