This is book 4 in the Black Nights series. I have not read the first 3 books and although i could see when reading that there were things that went on in previous books that would've helped me better understand this book it really didn't bother me. The Core story for Rock and Vanessa was there and well written. Most of the things were easily figured out just by reading. I would love to go back and read the first three books still. Mostly because i enjoyed this one so much and the writing. Julie Ann Walker writes a story that's fun and exciting with her witty dialogue while at the same time your are suspended in the intrigue, romance and the conflict between the two main characters. The secondary characters compliment the main story as well.  
Here are a few of my favorite lines.

" Why are you grinning at me like a possum eatin' a sweet 'tater?" 

Ozzie piped up with " Good God, You two have got to quit that. You're making my boy parts get bigger!" 

Lastly .

And when he saw her crashing through the undergrowth, dirty, bedraggled, and so beautiful he could barely breathe, making him hotter than a billy goat in a pepper patch just by stomping toward him with unconsciously sensuous gate of hers, he knew he was a lost cause.

Just in those lines you can see the humor the romance and some of the conflict.  Rock is from the south with a hot sexy voice. I would love to hear this book in audio. If the voice work is good it would be phenomenal.  Rock is a man with no future. Branded a traitor and supposedly gone rogue and a possible murderer. The Black Knights don't believe it or don't want to, particularly Vanessa. Vanessa has gotten to know Rock and remembers all the things he has done to help her feel welcome in the group. They set out to find him and then exonerate him. The book is action packed and will take you as the book title states on a Thrill Ride!! 5 out of 5 stars for Thrill Ride by Julie Ann Walker.

Book review: The Lost Girls of Johnson's Bayou by Jana DeLeon (Harlequin Intrigue #1331)

Review: This is the 3rd Harlequin Intrigue by Jana DeLeon that features danger and romance in the steamy Louisiana bayous. (The Secret of Cypriere Bayou and Bayou Bodyguard , and Trouble in Mudbug.)

DeLeon really knows her stuff, and the Harlequin Intrigue line is perfect for her. She writes the best books chock full of characters you can see in your mind and believe in who happen to be involved in dangerous, spooky adventures. Ginny is one of the "Lost Girls", a group of orphaned or unwanted girls who were gathered together at the LeBlanc School for Girls in Johnson's Bayou. Sixteen years ago Ginny was one of only two girls who survived a tragic and suspicious fire at the school. Suffering from amnesia, both girls have grown up and made lives for themselves, never knowing that they were being watched carefully, in case they started remembering what happened that night at the School.

Ginny has already started remembering when handsome Paul arrives in the small town. Ginny and Paul start out as partners in mystery-solving, but soon are experiencing an intense attraction enhanced by their dangerous adventures as they try and solve the mystery of what happened that night sixteen years ago.

It was hard to put this book down - I wanted to keep reading and see who the bad guy was, and how Ginny and Paul's relationship would evolve. Considering the Harlequin Intrigue line exists for solving mysteries and happy endings, creating a story that kept me reading late into the night is a real testament to the author's skill. This was my 4th book by DeLeon and all 4 have been excellent.
