Indecent Proposal

Manwhore. That's what the board of directors-and the tabloids-thinks of billionaire bachelor Reese Crane. Ordinarily he couldn't care less, but his playboy past is preventing the board from naming him CEO of Crane Hotels. Nothing-and no one-will keep him from his life's legacy. They want a settled man to lead the company? Then that's exactly what he'll give them.

Merina Van Heusen will do anything to get her parents' funky boutique hotel back-even marry cold-as-ice-but-sexy-as-hell Reese Crane. It's a simple business contract-six months of marriage, absolute secrecy, and the Van Heusen is all hers again. But when sparks fly between them, their passion quickly moves from the boardroom to the bedroom. And soon Merina is living her worst nightmare: falling in love with her husband . .

Ok there are plenty of books written about marriage for mutual benefit. That's not new. I wasn't sure if this book could hold my interest or if it would be just more of the same.  It did that and more! Reese Crane has a problem. While he's been well groomed for the job and knows what he's doing the board of Crane Hotels will not name him CEO because of his reputation in his personal life. Not willing to give up he makes a deal with Merina Van Heusen to pose as his wife. In return she gets her family hotel back which Crane Hotel's has recently purchased. The Van Heusen is her life or was with it now in Crane possession she sees her future disappearing. Taking the deal seems like a good idea. This was a page turner for me. It's exciting from page one when Merina storms in soaking wet with a glass doorknob in her hand to confront Reese. As the two get to know each other the lines between business and pleasure blur and neither is really sure what is really going on. I loved the characters.  Even the secondary charters were fun and interesting. Hoping we get more from Reese's brothers in future books. We only meet one in this book but he's a bit devilish and sexy. If you can believe that. lol An amazingly fun and interesting read for me. I was cheering for Reese and Merina from chapter one.

Welcome to Eye Candy, the East Side’s hottest nightclub where the bartenders are hot, the cocktails are fancy, and danger lurks just under the surface…

Eve Webber, the gorgeous and savvy owner of Eye Candy, knows better than anyone that growing up on the wrong side of the tracks comes with certain complications. Determined to run a clean business and fix up the East Side, Eve’s plans get temporarily stalled when a potential new hire walks into her bar. The sexual chemistry crackling between them is a potent distraction…even if she refuses to mix business with the promise of pleasure.

Detective Matt Dorchester lives by strict rules that have kept him alive in impossible situations. When his latest undercover assignment has him playing a bartender, his desire for the passionate owner has him breaking every single one. Eve is in danger and her life depends on his secrecy. But once their attraction reaches a climactic conclusion, Matt must make a desperate choice: Tell her the truth about who he really is―or risk a once-in-a-lifetime love to save her life?

Eve and Matt find themselves both in difficult positions. Eve is trying to protect her business and neighborhood by helping the police catch a childhood friend who is a bad guy now. Matt is the cop assigned to protect her, undercover and without her knowledge. Then when they meet there is a smack in the face instant attraction. Problem number one for Matt. Problems seem to multiply for both as the days go by. Loved Matt and Eve. Both characters are fleshed out so well and detailed. Both have such different family lives and pasts. As the books moves along things get more and more serious. Secrets come out and things get intense.  There is some definite suspense and plenty of action toward the end as things come to a head. A page turner at times and a enjoyable read.

ARC Book review: Demon Hunting With a Dixie Deb (Demon Hunting #4) by Lexi George

Deep South legends. Deep fried curses. Deep dish revenge . . .

This Debutante Is Having A Ball!

Way down south in the land of cotton, one belle's plans are soon forgotten--when Sassy Peterson drives her Maserati off the road to avoid a deer and lands smack-dab in the proverbial creek without a paddle. The Alabama heiress should have known something weird was going on when she saw the deer's ginormous fangs. Hello, Predator Bambi!

But nothing can prepare her for the leather-clad, muscle-bound, golden-eyed sex god who rescues her. Who wears leather in May? That's just the first of many questions Sassy has when her savior reveals he's a demon hunter named Grim. Also: Why would a troop of fairies want to give her magical powers and rainbow hair? Why would a style-challenged beast called the Howling Hag want to hunt her down?

Most importantly, what's a nice debutante like Sassy doing in a place like this anyway? Besides feeling Grim . . .

It's been a while since we have seen a Demon Hunting series book. Long awaited for readers who are fans of the series. Demon Hunters continue to fall in love in this new book while we also visit some of the hunters from previous books. Fun ensues! Sassy Peterson has been under her mother's thumb for years. Her brother was always distant, but now deceased she is the person who inherited his estate. Off to settle that Estate in Hannah she finds her self up the creek. Literally actually in the creek. Rescued by a hot man who appears from no where and then left on the road soaking wet. Now what? Things just continue to get crazy from there. If you have read previous books in this series you know the men are hot, the dialogue is hilarious and you are going to enjoy yourself. There is no way to determine where the author is going in this paranormal romance. It's just off the wall enough to keep you guessing and probably laughing. Just read the blurb and you will see what i mean. Don't want to read something heavy or just want smile for a while this book is one for you.

You think you've got problems? Don't talk to Maggie Lee about problems.

Her mother's escaped from the loony bin, and rumor has it she's robbing people for ice cream money.

A mob boss is insisting she liberate his daughter from a mental hospital that Maggie's pretty sure she belongs in.

And people keep trying to kill her.

While Maggie deals with all that, she must also contend with her dysfunctional family; the challenges of parenting her orphaned niece; a handsome, but dangerously curious reporter; a hot manny who lives under her roof and gets under her skin; a smooth and sexy con man; and a certain murder mentor/cop redhead. And, honestly, it's getting too much to bear. Good thing she has her talking animals to confide in.

But with everything that's going on, can the intrepid, yet inept, hitwoman figure out how to keep everyone she loves safe without ending up in jail or killed?

Or will she just take up residence in a rubber room herself? Truth be told, she could use the break.

While i enjoy this series a lot this book really got me going. There is sooooo much going on in this book. There is no way NOT to be sucked into the action. It's another crazy day for Maggie. Her mom is broken out of the mental institution and she's on the lamb with Maggie's dad who is escaped from witness protection. The two of them on there own in a pretty big problem the two together is a nightmare. There is stuff going on with her missing sister a man from her past and the red head and well just a lot. You would think it might be to much but it really just keeps the story flowing. I have to say i was disappointed in the red head and how that all ended and it felt kind of abrupt. He was a huge part of Maggie's life for a while and even though he's been slowly shifting out it i didn't care for the way it ended with him. Felt a little icky and if i were Maggie he would get a huge punch in the face. Because i was already kind of done him i got over it pretty quick.  There are other interesting men in her life. Maggie still has her hands full on so many levels but thankfully can hear her animals again. Honestly i didn't realize what a big part that has played in the series until she lost to ability to communicate with them. An action packed adventure as always this  book was one i could not put down.

Love and Murder are in the air.

In years past, Maggie Lee has not been a fan of Valentine’s Day, but this year, the holiday has warped into its own special hell.

She's stuck working at her aunt’s lingerie shop during the busiest (and cheesiest) time of the year, someone volunteered her to help with the Valentine’s Day party at her niece’s school, and there’s a hitman in town, known as the Cupid Killer.

Maggie is up to her eyeballs in declarations of love, sex toys, and candy hearts, when all she really wants is to chase down leads pertaining to her missing sister.

Can Maggie survive a guy with a bow and arrow, the pain in the butt parents of school kids, and a romantic proposal?

Or will she succumb to her favorite fantasy?

The one where she runs away with her pets.

Poor Maggie, she's stretched thin. Working at The Corset, a Lingerie shop her aunt owns, taking real estate classes to start a new career and then of course  hitwoman job. Now she also is talked into volunteering to help with Katie's Valentine's day party at school. She's juggling so many balls she can't seem to keep them all in the air. Good thing she's got plenty of help. If she would just say yes when it's offered. Things are complicated as always with the men in her life. Then there is a man who looks like Santa who is killing people and is knicknamed the Cupid Killer because he kills with a bow and arrow.  Her dad is on the loose and in trouble again. Plus more. Always more. Like always there is a lot going on in this book. It's fun to see how the author weaves it all together and keeps it interesting. I for one am always kept guessing.

Some jobs are more challenging than others.

Take for example, Maggie’s latest assignment: assassinating a heartless, indiscriminate sniper. He deserves to die, but making that happen is tricky, especially considering that a certain red-headed police detective has been assigned to protect him.

And that’s not the only job Maggie has.

She’s struggling to find a way to communicate with her pets and care for her orphaned niece, while searching for information about her sister who disappeared years earlier. An investigation that puts her in harm’s way.

Maggie struggles to do all her jobs, while contending with her nutty family, vague psychic predictions, an unexpected chicken, and a complicated romantic relationship.

Is she up for the challenge? Or will one mistake cost her everything?

The continuing saga of Maggie. This is why i keep coming back for more. Maggie is the most unexpected person. With each book she learns more about herself and her family while she tries to figure out her future. It seems like her life is always  on go go go! There are so many secondary characters in this series but frankly i don't have to much trouble following them all. If they haven't appeared in a while it doesn't take long for me to say...."Oh yeah" with a laugh. Maggie, if you have been reading the books has always been able to speak with her animals. She's lost that ability and is frantically trying to find a way to get it back.  Unfortunately nothing seems to be working. I hate that she can't speak to them. After so many books listening to what the animals have to say i find it frustrating as a reader to not be able to hear them anymore. Hoping she can figure out soon but there is no way i can guess how the author is going to come up with a way. That's one of the best things about this series you are always guessing where the author is going. Where the twists will come. It's what i believe keeps the series fresh. None of these books takes days to read so anyone can still book up book one and enjoy the series and get caught up quickly. Exciting and funny and engaging and a quick enjoyable read! Leave ya smiling even when there is a little cliff hanger at the end. You never have to wait to long for the next book.

ARC Book review: From Friend to Fake Fiancé (Mafia Moguls #2) by Jules Bennett

Two friends, one wedding and a little white lie…

Pretend to be Jenna LeBlanc's lover? Heck, Mac O'Shea has dreamed about being the real thing for years. Yes, they share a deep attraction, but they've agreed to "just be friends." After all, Jenna wants forever, and Mac's questionable family business means he's not the settling down type. He would never bring an innocent like Jenna into his dark world. But the mafia playboy can't resist the chance to touch her, to taste her—even if it's only a ruse for her sister's tropical wedding. It's just a week…in paradise…with a woman he desperately wants. Nothing will change between them. Right?

Jenna has been friends with Mac for years. Attracted to each other Jenna has always put Mac in the friend department because Jenna wants a forever guy and Mac is definitely not one of those. To protect her heart she's done her best to keep him there. Now Jenna's sister is getting married in a tropical locale and her ex is best man so she calls in Mac to help by acting as her new boyfriend. Things don't always go as planned though and things go from friends to something more. Mac has wanted Jenna forever it seems but now he has his chance he thinks to have her and then get her out of his system and go back to being just friends. It takes him a while to see it's just NOT that easy. I loved Mac with Jenna. Jenna had self esteem issues but Mac helped her to see what was really there. He loved her the whole time he knew her but kept her at arms length by labeling her as a friend. He let his past and his families past keep him from her. I loved seeing these two together. Jenna is a strong women she just doesn't realize how strong until Mac shows her. Mac is a strong man but not as strong as he could be with Jenna.  I enjoy seeing O'Shea's find their way to a a life away from crime but so far it hasn't been the easiest. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book!
