eARC Book review: Driven to Distraction (Road to Love #1) by Lori Foster

When desire gets this hot, you’d better buckle up…

Mary Daniels doesn’t let anything get in the way of her job acquiring rare artifacts for her wealthy boss. But this particular obstacle—huge, hard-muscled, unashamedly masculine—is impossible to ignore. Stuck in a cramped car with Brodie Crews for hours en route to their new assignment, Mary feels her carefully crafted persona—and her trademark self-control—is slipping, and she won’t allow it.

Brodie can’t imagine what secret in Mary’s past has left her so buttoned-up, though he’d dearly love to find out. Maybe then she’d trust him enough to explore their explosive chemistry. But he needs this job, so he’ll play by her rules and bide his time…until an enemy determined to outwit them strikes and he needs to get close—in every way—to protect her. Otherwise they could lose much more than a precious collectible. They could lose it all.

First in a new series by Lori Foster the Road to Love series starts with Brodie Crews and his family and their business Mustang transportation.  Mary Daniels works for a wealthy collector. She hires Brodie on her bosses behalf to be her driver as she goes about picking up the items collected. I liked the Crews family a lot and look forward to getting to know each as the series continues. Brodie and his brother had a absent father but a fabulous mother who took great care of them and taught them how to treat people. Mary had the opposite upbringing. She had no father and her mother didn't take care of her at all. Mary doesn't get close to anyone or let anyone get close to her. Until Brodie. For whatever reason Mary opens up to Brodie and she lets him in and slowly lets others in as well. While Brodie is driving Mary and getting to know her someone is also trying to stop their boss from collecting certain items. Lots of action and suspense and fun in this book.

With the ranch teetering on the brink of disaster, accepting an invitation to the gala of the year is a top business priority for Luke Stone. Having a significant other on his arm isn’t merely a good idea, it’s a necessity. Doesn't matter that he’s currently single—there’s a logical solution. Kelli is easy company, a vital part of ranch operations, and willing to sing Silver Stone’s praises all day long. She’ll be perfect.

Kelli James has kept a lot of secrets over the eight years since she boldly walked onto the ranch. Her biggest challenge, though, has been hiding her crush on the sexiest cowboy she’s ever laid eyes on. When Luke informs her they’re headed to the mountains for a week-long, work-related event, she’s not sure what to expect.

That he signed her up to play the part of the perfect rancher’s bride-to-be wasn’t it…

Luke Stone has known Kelli James since she showed up at the family ranch when Kelli was just 16. Kelli has always had a thing for Luke but he's never seemed to notice. With the family ranch on the edge of success or failure Luke needs a fiance to take to a big gala for people in the horse business. Kelli knows her horses and is fun and easy to get along with so she's the perfect choice.  For Kelli though it's the perfect chance to let Luke know how she feels. It's seems to go great until it's time to go home and live in the real world. Especially when someone from Kelli's secretive past shows up. The author has let Kelli be a bit of  a mystery in the past three books. Finally you get the story of Kelli. Who she is and where she came from but Kelli gets some surprises of her own. Loved to see these to finally get together.

Black sheep Beau Elliott came home for his baby...and to prove to his family that he's a changed man. The last thing he needs is temptation at his door...but that's what he gets with the new nanny who's living on his ranch! Will their holiday kisses end with a Christmas engagement...or a New Year's dissolution?

Beau Elliott is the brother who left home for Hollywood. He was enjoying himself and finding success when the relationship with the women he as seeing fell apart and he was left with his new born baby to care for. He decided it was time to go home to family. Unfortunately that family is not quite ready to welcome him with open arms yet. Scarlett Patterson has been a nanny for years. After a life hanging event makes it impossible to have children of her own she's decided that her nanny days are over. It's just to hard. Her last job is a three week fill in for another nanny.  That fill in job just happens to be Beau Elliott.  I loved these to together. Beau is not all what he first appears and his daughter always comes first. Not only does he have to decide if he's going back to Hollywood or not he also needs to make amends with his family. Scarlett is dealing with the changes in her life along with her attraction to Beau. The story just flows from page one. This is not a overly long book so things happens fairly quickly but still feel like a well paced story. This is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone story.

eARC Book review: Bark! The Herald Angels Sing (The Dogfather Book 8) by Roxanne St. Claire

Novella length

With Christmas and a family wedding fast approaching, there’s happy chaos in the air at Waterford Farm. However, not everyone in the Kilcannon clan is caught up in the magic of the moment. Matriarch, octogenarian, and beloved blogger Gramma Finnie hears the clock of her long life ticking far too fast, while her great-granddaughter, teenager Pru, feels squeezed out of planning her mother’s nuptials.

But when this unlikely duo is tasked with the project of producing the “Somethings” for the wedding – and only have Christmas Eve to get the job done – Gramma Finnie and Pru have a purpose and a plan. They set off to find the perfect old, new, borrowed, and blue treasures, but it doesn’t take long for things to spin out of control faster than Gramma’s Toyota in a snowstorm. Detoured by a stray border collie, thwarted by nature and an elf parade, and trapped by a rifle-toting mountain man, it will take more than the power of the Kilcannon clan to save these two from a Christmas catastrophe. It will take the luck of the Irish, a love story from long ago, and a whole lot of help from the angels to make this holiday merry and bright.

It's Christmas time at Waterford Farm. There's a wedding in the works for right after the holiday for Molly and Trace. Unfortunately Pru and Grammy are feeling a little left out and down. Molly gives them the tasks of the 5 Somethings for the wedding and Grammy turns it into a adventure. Adventure's don't always go so well and things get a bit crazy and possibly dangerous for the dynamic duo. I love how the author takes the opportunity to provide the back story on how Grammy met her husband and a glimpse into her past as a young girl. Love this series as a whole so this novella is a wonderful addition to the series it's always fun to see the Kilcannon family get together to help each other. Excited to see what comes next.

eARC Book review: Be with Me (Return to Haven #2) by Jules Bennett

Since moving to Haven to help out her closest friends, Melanie Ramsey has begun to reclaim her strength after a difficult divorce. Through Mel’s Motivational Blog, she’s inspiring other women too. Then a wild, one-night fling with Haven’s gorgeous deputy leaves her shaken, stirred—and pregnant.  But Melanie’s not giving up her newfound independence for another powerful man. Not even one as upstanding and intriguing as Tanner Roark . . .

What matters most to Tanner: defending the weak, seeking justice, and protecting his heart after a tragic loss. Random hookups have been working out just fine until he and Melanie collide. Despite her domineering ex’s best efforts to rattle her, she’s still kind and resilient. Not to mention witty, straight-talking, and sexy as hell. Chemistry is easy. Trust, not so much. But when you find the one who sends your heart soaring, what can you do except buckle up and hold on tight? . . .

Tanner and Melanie kind of butt heads when they meet. Tanner gives Melanie a speeding ticket on her way into town. Both Tanner and Melanie have reasons not to trust in love. Melanie has a abusive ex-husband who still won't leave her alone. Tanner has a person tragedy in his past that's affecting his future. When these two let their attraction for each other go one night it ends up with being connected for life whether they like it or not. Watching these two figure out how they can make a relationship work as sometimes fun before it had to get serious. Melanie needs to be independent and in control of her life and Tanner needs to take care of her and so that's makes it tough. Loved the happy ending for this story. Can't wait to see what happens next in this series.
