For odd-girl-out Zoey Hodge, the best thing about Buckhorn, Kentucky, was leaving it behind. And now she’s back—at least until she can nurse her mother back to health and hightail it out of there anew. But there’s one person she doesn’t mind seeing again. Garrett Hudson was one of the few who was always kind to her. Now he’s a firefighter—still one of the good guys, but with a sexy alpha charm that’s tempting her inner bad girl.

In school, Zoey was smart, witty and unafraid to be herself. Garrett fell hard back then, and he’s falling even faster now. As far as he’s concerned, there are all kinds of reasons Zoey should stick around. Her pet grooming business. Her mom. And the chance for him to prove that he can be her real-life hero in every way that matters…

This is a great little novella featuring the second generation of the original Buckhorn series. Zoey Hodge came back to take care of her mother. After what happened 10 years ago and the events that made her leave town she isn't expecting a warm welcome. Garrett Hudson liked her back then and was one of the few back then that didn't think she should have left back then. Now that she's back he's got to find ways to make sure she wants to stay. Zoey is a tough smart girl who had take care of herself.  Morgan Hudson, Garrett's father was a big ole alpha male with a big heart in his original book and Garrett is a cheap off the old block.  He stands up for what's right and stays by Zoey's side while she navigates her way back into Buckhorn. When she faces some things from her past he stand up for her as well and they make a great team.  This is a fun fast read and i found it so enjoyable to go back to Buckhorn. My only complaint is i wish we had seen more of the orignal characters and i wish of course that is was longer. Hopefully more of these new stories will be coming.

Find out more about the Buckhorn series. Definitely should check out the four original books and then keep moving for the ones that followed. Find out more about Lori Foster here www.lorifoster.com
