This is the last in the Playing for Hearts series. I have only read a couple of them so I feel they can all be read as stand alone books. In this one we have professional fisherman Bruce Coldwell and athlete Crista Johnson. Bruce and Crista have been best friends for a long time and when he comes for to stay for 2 weeks she's got plans for what they can do. This all gets blown to bits when he asks her to hook him up with her bitchy gorgeous supermodel next door neighbor. She's been tolerating Janelle her neighbor for the past 2 years she's lived there even though the woman is constantly putting her down and blatantly goes after every married or taken man she sees. After several attempts at setting Bruce up with Janelle and her blowing hot and cold he starts to change his mind about Janelle especially after he sees how she treats Crista.  Suddenly he's seeing a different Crista one he never let himself think about before.  This is a quick paced read. Bruce and Crista have to find their way through this new level in their relationship. Risking their friendship for the possibility of something more. New territory for both but also Crista has some insecurities about herself she has to work through. It was fun to see Bruce have to slow down and really think about what he's doing with Crista and for Crista to really figure out she's worth it and can compete with any woman out there for the man she loves. This book also has a wrap up with all the character from the previous book. That can be a bit confusing if you have not read the other books but didn't bother me.  I never knew fishing could be so sexy!!

Ah Weston! If you read book one in the Hard Body series you might remember Rocki Bangli. If not you get a refresher of where you saw her before in this book. Rocki has been working undercover to get the goods on Darrell Archer who is Kage Archer from book one's bad guy uncle.  Whew!! Follow that? I don't think it was too hard, right? Rocki is told to meet with the guys at pool table 3 at a local pub and who walks in but the Beaumont body shop boys including Tony Weston.  She's to go home with whichever guy talks to her and Tony's that man. Tony knows who Rocki is but every word out of her mouth is a lie when he meets her. As a private investigator he knows things and he's seen her at the local police academy. He's been in serious lust of her since he laid eyes on her and now here she is.  Is she a cop undercover or has she gone bad.  Her cover gets blown right after and her life is on the line along with her mom and Tony and the other guys. She's tough but it might be one of those times to let the someone help her out.  Rocki is tough as nails but even tough girls have limits and when her mentor seems like he's gone bad and set her up that's it.  A action packed thrill zone, something is always happening in this book. Tony will grab your heartstrings in no time as he tries to protect both Rocki and his best friend Kage.  I can't wait to see which one of the Beaumont body shop boys is next!

Book review: Soothing His Madness by Debra Kayn

The book opens up with him just coming from court and losing custody to his sleazy ex-wife and equally sleazy husband. While working on his court case he had been seeing Taylor and keeping that quiet thinking it might effect his case if it gets out. Things are not going his way so he becomes desperate and does something that could get his boys taken away from his permanently.Taylor does her best to support him but it's like hitting a wall when he won't accept her help. Just when you think they have enough on their hands with the boys the ex-wife and their relationship someone is out to kill them. Who is it? The ex-wife's new husband or a rival motorcycle club or something else. There's a lot going on in this book but it's nice to see some family dynamic with the two boys of Slade's and Taylor and Slade's relationship growing into something permanent. Between the great sex scenes and the pulse pounding  suspense scenes there's plenty to keep you reading and wanting more. Can't wait to see where Ms. Kayn takes us next!

Jane finds herself in a abusive relationship with a man who is not what he appears. When he comes close to killing her she grabs her cat, her now ex boyfriend gun and a wad of his cash and runs home to her brother and his friends.  Kage comes from a violent and drug filled background. His mom and dad were casualties of this life and ever since he was a kid he's fought to not be like them To be honorable and upstanding doing the right thing always. Jane always had a thing for Kage but he never made a move because she was 4 years younger than him. She's all grown up now though and back home. Kage and Jane's brother and two of their other friends run a car detail shop. It's a front for their other business as private investigators. They have the skills to protect Jane when it's clear her ex isn't going to let her go easily. Kage always want to finally put his mark on Jane but first he's got to get the ex out of her life permanently and try to convince her he's in it for the long haul this time. Debra Kayn knocks it out the park with this story. I got into it right away. Love the guys and the ladies in this book. Kage Archer. The name just screams sexy! The character matches the name. He's a tall, dark and brooding alpha male. He takes charge right from page one but yet shows his tender side to Jane when she needs it. You also get the set up for the next two books possibly if your paying attention. Be sure to read Chapter one of "Weston" the next book in the series that comes at the end of the book. Looking forward to the rest of this series. 5 out of 5 stars for Archer by Debra Kayn.

Review:

This was a really fun and sweet romance.  Dominic is one hot hero (Hockey player. Russian. Big blonde athlete.  Enough said.) and my only complaint is I really wanted this book read to me by a deep-voiced man with a Russian accent, preferably one sitting next to me on the couch, rubbing my feet and ........OK, I digress, but this sexy little (112 pages) story really ignites the fantasy part of my brain.

Diana is a very disciplined, hard-working woman with the crystal clear goal of owning a bed and breakfast.  She's been working in the hotel business for several years and is ready to start her own business.   And as much as she dislikes Dominic and the lifestyle he apparently lives, she is not going to turn down half a million dollars for posing as his girlfriend for two weeks.

Naturally there is more to Dominic than meets the eye, and Diana is in deep trouble.  Ignoring her physical attraction to Dom was hard enough, but discovering the fact that he's a really nice guy makes it impossible to keep her feelings neutral. 

Dominic's sweet wooing of Diana is romantic and touching, even as her resistance to his advances feels realistic and smart.  I loved the fact that as the reader, I felt romanced by Dominic even as Diana does.  Little by little I switched my loyalties from Diana to Dominic as his true nature is revealed, rooting for both of them and their happy-ever-after.

The florist, who surrounds herself with beautiful flowers and witnesses other people's showing of love every day, suffers from depression. The young lady who helped you put your groceries in your car grew up in twenty foster homes and is currently living on the street. We only see what others show us.

I hope you enjoy getting to know Tori from Breathing His Air, and her story. She's a lot deeper than first impressions. Her story could shock you, but I think once you see inside her head, you'll respect her even more for what she's experienced. And, you'll see why Rain will do anything to keep her alive.

This is one of the only a few motorcycle club type books i have read. Book starts out with Tori and her mobile coffee shop on wheels parked in the lot from Rain's biker Bar.  Takes all of a handful of pages to meet Rain and his alpha male tendencies. He comes out of the gate in bossy protection mode. Tori  appreciates the protection when a handful of guys from a biker gang try to intimidate her but she's her own boss and Rain needs to understand that. Rain tries to run her off for her own protection but Tori is tougher than he thinks. Soon he realizes something is going on with her. He's attracted to her but he was burned pretty bad by another woman before and he can't decide is she's like that woman or is she is innocent and a bit naive.  Then someone targets her and bad things start happening. Her story starts coming out and she finds eventually the men and woman in Rain's motorcycle club look at her as family and want to protect her.   I had a few problems with some word choices but nothing that bothered me that much i wouldn't recommend the book to others. I loved Rain's character. He's this big alpha guy and here's Tori who is damaged and he's got to balance protecting her with helping her heal. 4 out of 5 stars for Breathing his Air by Debra Kayn.

Book Reivew: Wildy by Debra Kayn

Shauna Marino left Cottage Grove, California an innocent teenager, gangly, wild and with no fashion sense, always diving headfirst into whatever feelings ruled the moment. Now, she’s back to fix her mistakes. She’s gained a respectable job, set a plan in motion to benefit the town, and all that’s left is to prove to Grayson Schyler she’s changed. Grayson Schyler, former Wimbledon champion, would've recognized Shauna anywhere. She’s made his life sweeter one moment, and hell the next. As someone in the public eye, he’d gone to great strains not to allow the media to misread their relationship, which wasn't always easy when Shauna was around. Now she’s back, asking for his help, and all he can think about is if she came back to make him pay for what he’d done

This is a shorter book at around 135 pages. Something you can read in a afternoon which some days is just about perfect. There is a six year age difference between Shauna Marino and Grayson Schyler which  was a big gap when she was 12 and he was 18 and they became friends. Shauna had a hugr crush on him and hounded him for years trying to show her affection and love. Grayson cared about her too but knew he was to old and it was inappropriate  for them to even be seen together. He was a tennis star with the eyes of the world on him. Finally Shauna's dad sent her off to college after one of her stunts and she decided she needed to grow up too. Now she's back and both are old enough but Shauna is back home to prove to the town she is a mature adult now and regain some respect she lost as a teenager. This a good quick paced story but i was wanted to kick Grayson's but for at least half the book. He's kind of mean and unfeeling toward Shauna but you finally figure out he's trying to protect her and he's kind of a chicken. lol I liked all the characters and there is a lot of conflict in Shauna's life she's dealing with that i know i would have a hard time with too. Poor Grayson learns his lessons in the end.  4 out of 5 Stars for Wildly by Debra Kayn.
