ARC Book review: Too Far Gone (Hanover Brothers #4) by HelenKay Dimon

Available now!
eARC provided by publisher through Netgalley

The Hanover brothers inherited quite a legacy from their con-artist father, including a secret they never imagined…

FBI Agent Walker Reeves came to Sweetwater, Oregon looking to settle a vendetta. His career is in shambles after years spent tracking down the Hanover brothers. He hopes to tie them to the schemes of their father Charlie—the same man who ruined Walker’s life. Unfortunately, Walker’s desire for revenge blinds him to the one chance at happiness he’ll ever get…

Even knowing that her friends would worry, art store-owner Mallory Able took a risk sleeping with Walker. She succumbed to his craving for control in the bedroom, but when reality got too tough for Walker, he bolted and left her in ruins. Now he’s returned. If Walker wants her back, he’s going to have to do some smooth talking both in and out the bedroom. And this time Mallory is in charge…

The final book in the Hanover brother series wraps up with a surprise for Hanover brothers. A brother they didn't know they had. FBI Walker Reeves has spent so much time trying to pin the Hanover brothers with the crimes of their father. Now that certain things have come to light though and he realizes they are innocent he has to figure out what to do with 3 brothers who are going to make him belong whether he likes it or not. Then there is the woman he can't seem to keep away from.  Problem is he can't seem to do anything right when it comes to Mallory. He kind of ditched her and ran off when things got kind of crazy and now he's going to have to fight like crazy to get her to believe in him again. Poor Walker has no idea how to deal with regular people out of his work life. He has 3 brothers he hasn't ever wanted to claim pushing their way into his life and making him believe he might finally belong to a family. Then there is Mallory. She is everything to him but his poor choices and experience with women is making any chance he might have with her minimal. I enjoyed seeing the brothers interact, not to mention the women in their lives. Watching Walker trying to navigate himself around his new found family is funny and at times touching and heartbreaking. HelenKay Dimon really wraps up this series nicely. For me this was a one sitting read. I started and did not want to put it down before i knew it it was over. This of course means it's a great book. Can't wait to see what's next from this author.

ARC Book review: Escaping Christmas by Lisa DeVore

Available Now!
eARC provided by author for review.

Author, Alexandra Storm, escaped to the mountains of Colorado to avoid everything about Christmas, including her ex-boyfriend. He dumped her on Christmas Eve two years ago, and the holiday has haunted her since. Her plan is to write her way through the dreaded Christmas cheer.

But, she didn't expect her new landlord, Zach Camden, to be a hunky savior on a snowmobile. After learning of her aversion to the holiday, he vows to give Christmas back to her. The attraction is undeniable, but she doesn’t need another failed romance. And she most definitely doesn’t need a reunion with her ex, or the escalating threats from an unknown enemy. As the danger increases, will she survive the season and allow love to restore her holiday spirit?

This is the 2nd book for author Lisa DeVore. In this Christmas themed book Alexandra Storm is kind of boycotting Christmas after a bad break up with her boyfriend turned her off the holiday a couple years ago. She's decided to to rent a cabin in the woods so to speak. Her landlord is the very sexy Zach Camden but she doesn't realize exactly who he is as first. Zach is not happy to find out that Alexandra is on her own. With a storm brewing he takes a interest in her safety. Finding out she is totally off Christmas he decides that he's going to turn that around no matter what it takes. Snowed in together their attraction to each other bubbles up fast and hot but an appearance by her ex and the possibility of something more menacing intrudes on their time together. Lisa Devore's second book is a quick read with interesting characters that pull you in fast. Loved both Alexandra and Zach but Zach i think owns my heart. He's the heart of the book for me. Hope you see more books from this author and see her grow in her writing skills. This author is one to watch!

ARC Book review: Not Without You(book one Silver Creek series) by Dianne Venetta

Available now!
eARC provided by author for review

Grad student, Lisa Richardson, scours the high country in search of her beloved boreal toad. The amphibian is in danger of extinction, a fate she is determined to change. Single-minded in her focus, Lisa doesn’t realize that she’s being followed by a mysterious stranger.

Enter McIntyre Walsh. Ex-marine with a heart of gold, this man lives and breathes duty. Protection. Content with his self-exile on a mountaintop in Colorado, he inadvertently witnesses a female hiker in danger, a situation he cannot ignore yet is unable to rectify. When their paths cross, Lisa and Walsh refuse to stray from their avowed goals, and carry on—despite the other.

It isn’t until a killer ramps up his game that both are forced to relent. Battling the rugged terrain of the Rocky Mountains and an undeniable attraction between them, Lisa and Walsh must work together against the odds if they intend to get off the mountain alive.

I had not read a book by Dianne Venetta in a while so i was a little excited to read this one. First in a series is always fun. Lisa Richardson is in the high country looking for the Boreal toad she is studying because it's possibly in danger of becoming extinct. Although she is a capable researcher and knows her way around the mountain she doesn't realize someone is following her. Ex-marine McIntyre Walsh is spending time in the high country recovering from a little PTSD from his military days when he spots Lisa. The two clash at first until the reality of whoever is following and watching Lisa is not just a stalker but possibly a killer. That's when  McIntyre has to put his marine skills to the test to keep them both alive. I think this is Dianne Venetta first foray into romantic suspense and i expected to like it but i didn't know that i would love it. I loved the character's and the hero's unusual name. The books starts out at a good clip and slowly picks up the pace. Every page the energy and the excitement level builds as they try to outrun the killer. I started it later in the evening and wish i had started it early so i could read it in one sitting. Look forward to more books in the series.

ARC Book review:Rocky Mountain Miracle by Christine Feehan

Available now!

Novella length
ARC Provided by publisher through Netgalley

No Christmas will ever be the same after Cole and Maia meet on a snowy western ranch… Find out why in #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan’s romantic holiday e-novella!

When Cole Steele, a womanizer rumored to have killed his father, meets Maia Armstrong, a veterinarian rumored to practice magic, the sizzling romance could melt all the snow on his Wyoming ranch. And when an injured horse brings them together, Cole can’t help but believe that Maia casts spells on animals—and men. What else could explain the burning passion he feels for her and the thawing of his heart just in time for Christmas?

This is a previously released novella by Christine Feehan. It's a Christmas story with a paranormal twist. Cole Steele has a murky past at least that's how everyone in town sees it. Since they don't know much they make up stuff about him and none of it's good. He has no problem with the rumors though. He doesn't want people to know anything about him. His fathers death brings him back to to the ranch he grew up on and where he suffered at the hands of his overbearing father. Only thing is he finds he has a younger brother who apparently also suffered the same evilness from his  father. Then he meets Maia Armstrong a traveling veterinarian who is filling in the area. Something about her draws him. For Maia's part she always had an affinity with animals and for some reason they  have a way of talking to her and that aids her in her work. After a horse is seriously injured on Cole's ranch she goes to the ranch with him to find herself snowed in with the two brothers and possibly a killer. I liked this one the first time i read it several years ago. Cole is this brooding mysterious man who is also damaged by a controlling mean father. Having gotten away from him years ago he's brought back after he's murdered to find out his has a brother. Since the two brother have their father in common in more ways than one they work at bonding and getting past the damage their father did. In the meantime Maia's secrets are slowly revealed to Cole and instead of having to run she finds Cole just might understand her and maybe she can quit running. Love those alpha men that are gruff but down deep they have beautiful hearts!

ARC Book review:Beyond Possession (Beyond #5.5) by Kit Rocha

Available now!
ARC provided by author

Tatiana Stone has worked hard to establish herself as one of Sector Four's most skilled crafters. All she wants is peace--but the sins of her father haunt her. He ruled the sector as a petty tyrant before the O'Kane takeover, and plenty of people harbor bitter memories of his cruelty. Especially now that Tatiana's beloved baby sister has fallen in with a man who wants to start a revolution.

Zan failed his boss once, and it won't happen again. So when Dallas O'Kane asks him to defuse the rebellion brewing in the sector, he'll do whatever it takes to get the job done--including seduce Tatiana. It's the perfect opportunity to get closer to the pretty crafter and complete his mission. But what he discovers is a fiery, passionate woman--and an affair that could destroy them both.

Followers of this series will recognize Zan from previous books in the series. Zan had a serious brush with death before and feels like he failed Dallas when he didn't protect someone he was supposed to. Now he is determined to redeem himself and  protect Tatiana Stone.  There is some serious trouble brewing in sector 4 and he's tapped to figure out just what's going on and to stop it if possible. Tatiana has been running her own store with her homemade soaps and things. Trying to live a peaceful quiet life is hard under the shadow of her dad's bad actions. It all falls apart one night in a blaze of fire!  I loved Zan and Tatiana's relationship development. It may seemed to go fast but it's a novella and i think you are led to believe that they have flirted with each other before. I didn't like the story between Tatiana  and her sister. It's hard to believe the sister could possibly be so naive about life in the sectors and men. Why would Tatiana shelter her from that considering what could happen.  Overall i enjoyed the story and as always loved the the folks of sector 4.

earc book review: Full Throttle (Black Knights Inc. #7) by Julie Ann Walker

eARC provided by publisher through Netgalley

Available 12/2/2014

She Needs a Hero...

Abby Thompson didn’t sign up to be the daughter of the President of the United States. The position was forced on her by the small matter of her birth. Preferring a quiet life of study, she’s content to leave the politics and the international intrigue to her father. Unfortunately, the most powerful man on the planet is sure to make enemies. When a group of armed thugs takes her hostage half a world away, demanding the U.S. government release prisoners in exchange for her safe return, she fears her father’s policy of “not negotiating with terrorists” means she’ll never see the shores of the Potomac again. Luckily, there’s one glimmer of hope. His name is Carlos Soto. And though she abruptly ended things with him years ago, she knows now he’s the only man who can save her…

Black Knights, Inc. to the Rescue...

Carlos “Steady” Soto has taken part in his fair share of dangerous missions working at the covert government defense firm of Black Knights Inc. But nothing prepared him for the emotional rollercoaster he faces when he’s tasked with rescuing the only woman he ever loved—who also broke his heart. Racing against time and outmaneuvering a group of trained terrorists will take everything he’s got. Plus there’s the heat simmering between them which is threatening to ignite into an inferno. While ruthless enemies stalk them, they must learn to trust each other again. Even if they do make it out alive, will Abby turn her back on him…for the second time?

The latest installment in the Black Knight Inc series is as fast paced and exciting as the previous books. Abby Thompson is the presidents daughter and certain things are expected of her. Preferring to stay out of the limelight as much as possible she sticks to a slower life and doing things to help people. On a trip out of the country she finds herself kidnapped. Almost all her secret service security detail killed. The only man for the job of rescuing her is Carlos Soto better knows to us BK Inc fans as Steady. There is a bit of a prequel to this story that tells how Steady and Abby knew each other years before and what devastating event changed them both and left Abby feeling guilty. Steady's feelings for Abby are evident as he struggles with his emotions and what he should be doing while trying to get her back. This has a bit of a side story with Dan and one of Abby secret service people that's interesting but i wondered if it would be Dan's permanent love interest or if there would be someone else later.  Ozzie has some devastating things happen to him that really surprised me and i wonder how it will be handled in future books. All in all i enjoyed this book a lot but it didn't feel quite like a BK Inc book as much as previous books because there wasn't a group of the Knights in this book. For part of it there are three but that quickly becomes two of them and each with their separate stuff going on. Love my BK Inc guys and am curious to see where Julie Ann Walker will go next with the series. By the time you get to the end of this book there are several possible plots that can be imagined for future stories.  One point i need to make i guess is that of the three BKI guys most in this book there is something significant that happens to each of them and not all of it is good. If that doesn't get your curiosity  going i don't know what can. Amazing, interesting and at times heartbreaking it's a thrill ride from beginning to word end!

ARC book review :Merry Christmas, Baby (Lucky Harbor #12.5) by Jill Shalvis

eARC provided by publisher through Netgalley
Available Dec 2nd 2014

New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis brings you a heartwarming tale that could only happen in Lucky Harbor . . .

SEASON'S KISSES

Wild child Chloe Thompson can't believe how much things have changed. She still can't get enough of her sexy husband Sawyer, but he seems to prefer working to thinking about impending fatherhood. So tonight, a very pregnant Chloe is escaping her troubles at the town Christmas party.

Sheriff Sawyer Thompson hopes surprising Chloe at the party will give him a chance to set things right. But as the snow begins to fall and the wind rages, he wonders whether he can make it back in time. While mother nature conspires to keep Sawyer and Chloe apart, an unexpected arrival will require them to kiss and make up . . . and ring in the happiest holiday Lucky Harbor has ever seen.

If you are a fan of the Lucky Harbor series by Jill Shalvis you know the series has ended with her last book last month. Lucky for us we are getting a bonus short story about Chloe and Sawyer. Chloe is pregnant and with her asthma  problems it could be a dangerous thing. Coming close to her due date and Christmas right around the corner there is a lot going on to top it off Chloe feels like she is not connecting with Sawyer and is having  doubts about how he feels about her and the baby. I loved this story. We get glances of some of the original characters from the beginning of course but also some in the middle and end of the series. Sawyer and Chloe were one of my favorite couples so it was exciting to take a peek at what's up with them. If you need a little warm fuzzy, mixed with the sass that Chloe always has you will enjoy this story. Love that Jill Shalvis gave us this little gift.

ARC Book review: The Hitwoman and the Poisoned Apple (Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman #8) by J.B. Lynn

eARC Provided by author
Available now!

How do you solve a murder when the victim is still alive?

Maggie Lee’s murder mentor (and almost lover) Patrick Mulligan wants her to find out who poisoned him before it’s too late. Keeping the man she loves alive would be hard enough if all she had to worry about was not getting caught, but nothing’s ever that simple.

In between dealing with her strung out cat, searching for Patrick’s poisoner, meeting a deadline to deliver a mysterious gift for her mobster boss and keeping a curious reporter on his toes, she finds herself entangled in the complicated (and potentially dangerous) romantic affairs of her Aunt Susan and her semi-psychic friend Armani.

Hearts and lives are in peril.

Can the kooky, klutzy assassin save them?

Can i just say OMG! OMG!! If you haven't read this series you should. You have to be ok with a cliffhanger ending but the author doesn't make you wait to long for the next book in the series. I have read all the books in this series and it takes usually the first chapter to suck me in. The main character Maggie Lee has been drawn into the world of being a assassin of sorts to pay for the care her orphaned niece healthcare needs. That's how the series starts. Since then she's been in all kinds of crazy situations and this book isn't any different. In the last book Patrick her murder mentor and the married man she is in love with is poisoned. This book she is tasked with finding out who poisoned him, deliver a package to a lady in the same mental hospital her mother is in per her mobster boss and dealing with her friend Armani and her new boyfriend who rubs her the wrong way. The woman should be a excellent juggler dealing with all the craziness around her. JB Lynn knows how to draw you into her stories. Although there are some serious situations going on she twists it around to add humor as well. Even as a i am bracing for what might be coming more times than not i end up smiling or laughing and then she grabs be by the throat with her almost climactic cliffhanger endings. At that point there might be a curse or two from me. Possibly, Ok probably! As always i am looking forward to the next book!

ARC Book review: Her Holiday Man by Shannon Stacey

eARC Provided by publisher through Netgalley
Available Nov 2 ( now!)

Christina Forrester is starting over. After a financial scandal sent her ex-husband to prison, she's left raising her young son without any of the comforts of their old life. Budgets, coupons, lawn care—you name it, she's learning to do it all on her own. Well, almost on her own—she'd be lost without Gail Broughton, the kind widow across the street. But when Gail's son comes home, Christina's vow to never trust a man again is put to the test.

Will Broughton left town because he was tired of being "that poor man" who lost his wife and unborn child in a tragic accident. But years have passed and, with his dad gone and his mom alone, it's time to go home. Only his mother's not alone. She's taken Christina under her wing, and the beautiful and determined single mother awakens something in Will he thought was buried forever.

As Will and Christina are forced to spend more time together, feelings that are more than neighborly grow between them. And with Christmas coming and a child filling both houses with holiday cheer, it becomes nearly impossible not to embrace the joy—and the love—in their lives.

This is a pull your heart strings  stand alone story set at Christmas time. Christina and her young son are living across the street from Gail Broughton. Thankful for Gail's help Christina views her as a friend and as a surrogate mom. Gail  on the other hand has lost her husband in the past year  and having Christina and her son around helps sooth that loss and gives her something to do and look forward to. Then Gail's son Will comes home and he instantly feels a connection with Christina and isn't exactly happy about it. Having lost his wife and baby is a car accident years ago he became a wanderer until his dad's passing finally brings him home. Thinking he would be helping his mom he is surprised to find his mom is doing ok and she is helping Christina and her son. He's wary of Christina at first thinking she might be using his mom it doesn't take long to figure out she is genuine. Although this story had it's sad points, considering the all the characters histories Shannon Stacey makes it easily into one of those soft fuzzy reads by the end. I loved the characters and how they interacted and the ending that shows the reader what happens after. Love those kinds of endings myself. A real joy to relax and read this book.

ARC Book review: Rocky Mountain Romance (Six Pack Ranch #7) by Vivian Arend

Available now!
earc provided by author

Second chances are the sweetest—and the hottest.

It took a spectacularly embarrassing break-up to knock Steve Moonshine Coleman off his lazy butt. In the ten months since that night, he’s changed his ways, and now that Melody’s back in town, it’s time for this sweet-talking cowboy to convince her to get back in the saddle with him.

A return to her veterinary position in Rocky Mountain House was always in the cards for Melody Langley. Getting back together with Steve? Never part of the plan. He had lots of potential but zero ambition, and there’s no way she’ll accept anything less than a man who can keep up with her, in and out of bed.

But the new-and-improved cowboy is impossible to resist, so Melody issues a challenge. Three months to prove he’s reformed. Three months of Steve orchestrating one sexual indulgence after another—wicked distractions from the old boys’ club Melody faces at work and Steve’s growing responsibilities.

He’s got one shot to prove with more than words what’s in his heart and soul.

This is a great series and even if you haven't read all the books and i haven't, you can still enjoy each one on it's own. It's been a while since i read book 6 in this series so it took me a minute to remember why I should've remembered Steve and Melody. Once i got into this book i remembered the whole pitcher of beer dumped on Steve's head that's talked about. Poor Melody has to deal with the old men's club in her chosen profession as a veterinarian even though she is probably the most educated and ambitious vet in the area. Then there is Steve. Getting beer dumped on his head might have been the best thing that ever happened to him. It finally made him stop and think about his life and what he wanted and he decided what he wanted was Melody. Now he's got to find a way to show her he wants her for keeps and prove he can be trusted with her heart. I love this. Melody is tough but still can show her softer side and Steve shows her he can and will protect her when he's needed but to let her take the lead. This is a sexy quick read filled with cowboy cousins and and their equally fun girlfriends/ wives in the backdrop to help Steve and Melody find their way back to each other. This has always been a great series where you can just read a book and enjoy it. Vivian Arend makes that happen in every book. Can't wait to see what happens with the twins Jesse and Joel!!

ARC Book review: New Year's in Napa (West Coast Holiday #2) by Elisabeth Barrett

Available now!

ebook provided by publisher through Netgalley

Driven by guilt, biotechnology researcher Amanda Aligheri spends every waking moment in her Silicon Valley laboratory. Desperate for a change, she makes a New Year’s resolution: go to Napa, relax, and achieve some balance. The problem? There’s no chance to soul-search while tempting-as-sin winemaker Liam Flynn is around. Mandy and Liam have history together, and one glance at his easy smile reminds her exactly why she fell for him the first time.

A software engineer at heart, Liam Flynn left a lucrative position at a San Francisco tech company in order to help his dad manage their third-generation family winery, and he’s done his best to take the business to the next level. Two years ago, sparks flew between Liam and Mandy, but the moment he mentioned commitment, she turned and fled back to the safety of her lab. When Mandy shows up at his winery, she’s just as beautiful, intelligent, and stubborn as he remembers…but this time Liam isn’t giving up without a fight.

Will one romantic, wintery week in Napa be enough for Liam to convince Mandy he’s the one for her, or when the new year comes will she forget about her resolution and return to Silicon Valley—and her research—without him?

This is the second book is the West Coast Holiday series.  Amanda  heads back Napa to find some balance in her life. Unfortunately or maybe fortunately Liam Flynn is there as well. Of course he lives there so it was bound to happen. Liam wants to try again with Amanda. They have a history together and he is still attracted to her. He has one week to see if they have a chance. This 2nd chance at love story is fun and interesting. The characters are interesting. I especially like Liam's sister. I sense her story coming in a future book.  Liam and Amanda have to learn what's important in their lives and if they have a chance at working out this time. Quick enjoyable read with a small town feel.

ARC Book review: Yours for Christmas (Fool's Gold #15.5) by Susan Mallery

Available October 28th 2014
eARC supplied by publisher through Netgalley

Step out of the winter chill and into the warmth of Fool's Gold, California, the charming small-town setting for a new holiday novella from New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery

Famous former NFL stars don't date single working moms like Bailey Voss. She'll allow herself to daydream about Kenny Scott's muscles and killer smile, but wanting more would lead to post-holiday regret. Then Kenny volunteers to run a toy drive with Bailey, and she learns that he's not just hot…he's also generous, funny, nice. The whole package—tantalizingly out of reach.

The ache of past loss reminds Kenny why he needs to avoid getting too close to anyone. Especially to a gorgeous redhead and her adorable little girl. Mess it up, and he'd lose them both. Yet Kenny can only resist Bailey for so long. And as festive spirit spreads throughout the town, he's all wrapped up in Bailey's sweet, sexy kisses and determined to make this the first of many Christmases together…

Back to Fools Gold, California! In a new holiday novella we finally get to see what might happen between Bailey and Kenny. Kenny has been a bit of a enigma since he arrived in town. He was one of three former NFL stars now retired and running a PR firm with another friend. He comes across as this lovable guy but whenever it came down to kids he balked a bit. Apparently it's really hard to ignore cute little girls when they engage the heart because Kenny finds himself helping out Bailey's little girl. When Kenny finds himself helping out the annual toy drive with Bailey thanks to Mayor Marsha he's all in until he freaks out. This is a quick fast get to your heart strings story. Love and loss are a part of life and Kenny and Bailey have had to deal with both and that changes you. It's how you deal with it that matters. I have always loved Kenny and Bailey and while i loved this novella i had hope for a full novel. In any case though it was well done by Susan Mallery and i look forward to see what's in store for them in future books.

ARC Book review: A Match Made in Mystery (A Matchmaker Mystery #2) by J.B. Lynn

ARC book provided by author
Available now!

Attorney Brady Stewart knows he’s in for a wild ride when psychic matchmaker Armani Vasquez tasks him with finding a Purple People Eater.

His life becomes even more complicated when he meets Amy Winn, a woman crazy enough to take on a would-be mugger, and desperate enough to come looking for a mysterious inheritance.

As Brady and Amy attempt to unravel the mystery behind the puzzling legacy, they can’t deny their mutual attraction despite the fact they live in different worlds.

Difficult choices put their budding romance at risk as they juggle Amy’s desire to unlock the secrets of a father she never knew and Brady’s need to tread carefully in order to protect his career.

Can they solve a mystery twenty  years in the making? Or will doing so ruin any chance at a future together?

Brady Stewart doesn't know what to think when Armani Vasquez  tells him to find a Purple People Eater. What? Yes a Purple People Eater. Color him surprised when the opportunity comes up to ask such a question and someone actually knows what it is. Amy Winn not only knows what a Purple People Eater is she is also a good Samaritan when she saves a lady being mugged while standing in the rain trying to talk herself into going into a law office. Two things, she received a paper that might lead her either to her dad that she's never known and/or a possible inheritance and, the lady she saved is a big deal with the law firm. Said lady asks Brady to take care of her but that's not a problem for him. This as always is a fast moving exciting story. Whenever i pick up a JB Lynn book i know i am going to entertained. I'm going to be drawn into the story in the first chapter. Sometimes the first few sentences. The characters are always interesting and the story intriguing and a little different. I never know where she's going with the story. Sometimes i can't even venture a guess to the ending.I might even laugh a little ... or a lot. You might get the ending to  to the main story line but if it's a series like this one she just might just lay the ground work to  hook you into the next book too. I can't wait to find out who Armani might be helping find a love connection next!

ARC Book review: Dr. Daddy's Perfect Christmas by Jules Bennett

Available now!
eARC supplied by publisher through the author

Mistletoe Baby

Pregnant and widowed. It wasn't quite how Nora Parker had planned to be ringing in the holidays this year. Though she was excited to meet her new baby, the last thing she'd expected was the return of Dr. Eli St. John the man who'd broken her heart years ago. Now he was back, filling in at his father's practice. He definitely wouldn't be staying in town. And she definitely shouldn't be looking forward to seeing him again!

Eli had left his small town for bigger adventures, assuming Nora would always be waiting. Now she was his best friend's widow, expecting a baby Eli wished was theirs. With the holidays approaching and his time in town dwindling, did he dare make one last effort to claim the Christmas gift he should have accepted years ago?

I wasn't really in the mood to read a Christmas related story when i started reading this book. I could only hope that i would get into it really quickly and sink into that holiday feeling we all hope for when it's that time of the year. Believe it or not that actually did happen. Eli St. John had to leave home and find his place in the world. He left behind his first love Nora Parker thinking that if it was meant to be she would be there for him when he came back. Unfortunately when he finally got the pull toward home his best friend and Nora were dating. He couldn't interfere if Nora was happy and he didn't want to hurt his best friend either. Finally forced back to care for his ailing father he's confronted with seeing Nora after barely making it through the door his first day back. This was complicated by the fact that his friend and Nora's husband was now dead. This book gave me one of those Harlequin TV movie vibes. Both Eli and Nora fight their feelings at first but it's a losing battle for both. When it looks like things are going well and they are really connecting secrets come out that ruin everything. This was a romance filled and happy story in places and gut wrenching and tearful in places as well. It really had it all and i really connected with the characters. A great way to spend a evening of reading.

He’s a man who fixes difficult situations. She’s the one thing he can’t handle—and the one thing he can’t resist…

ONLY

Sebastian Jameson negotiates for high-end clients who need problems taken care of quickly and discreetly. Accustomed to being in control, he’s still reeling from his ex-wife’s decision to write a tell-all about their private life, one that highlighted their bedroom activities. The fallout left Bast’s love life in chaos, making him a magnet for women who thrive on risky fantasies, and a pariah to all others.

Kyra Royer knows all about Bast’s reputation—and is intrigued enough to try to change him into a one-woman guy. But getting him into her bed will be a challenge. He’s known her brother for years, and her brother, with his rough past and sniper abilities, is not a man you cross. Kyra knows Bast thinks she’s off-limits, so she’ll have to get creative to make him hers.

As Kyra turns up the heat, Bast struggles to resist the sexy young woman’s considerable charms. But when Bast’s job turns from tricky to deadly, keeping Kyra nearby might be the only way to keep her alive—even if it means getting closer than he ever intended…

The Holton Woods series by HelenKay Dimon continues with Only as we move on to Sebastian Jameson Jarrett best friend from book one. He's this controlled sexy lawyer who seems like he has it all together except when Kyra Royer show up at the club his best friend owns. Kyra is 24 years old but a very hardened 24 because of the way she was brought up. She doesn't come from money the way Bast does and she doesn't had a high paying job either. She does know what she wants and she wants Bast.  Bast puts up a good fight to keep her at arms length but when he finally gives in things get hot quick.  This books isn't just a sexy romance there is also the edge of suspense and danger as well. Bast is handling a really difficult case which has the danger of someone getting hurt. Kyra also has her criminal father in the background trying to cause trouble which Bast knows nothing about. I think the relationship comes across as both Bast and Kyra as a little immature or at least for Bast a little scared maybe. He's had his previous marriage and personal life dragged through the media so he's allowed to be leery i guess. As the story grows though Bast figures out how to love again and Kyra matures in her first real relationship. There is also a secondary M/M romance that started in book one that's a little combustible. I want to say that you really need to start with book one or you might be a little lost on the relationships going on in this series.  Overall so far i am enjoying the series.

ARC Book review: The Christmas Wedding Ring (Triple Trouble) by Susan Mallery

eARC provided by publisher through Netgalley
Available now! Re-issue

Re-issue of Wedding Ring Promise - Originally published 1998.

New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery returns with a classic story of destiny, desire and a little holiday magic!

In her youth, Molly Anderson couldn't help crushing on gorgeous bad-boy Dylan Black? Even though he only had eyes for her older sister. When things didn't work out between them, he said goodbye to Molly as well, vowing they'd have a great adventure when she grew up. Years later, dumped by her fiance?Jjust before Christmas, she's finally ready to take Dylan up on his promise.

A guarded Dylan always had a weakness for Molly, and when she waltzes back into his life?grown-up and gorgeous?he's stunned. So why not whisk her away for some no-strings-attached fun?

Laughter-filled days and late-night kisses are changing Molly's life, for good. The only gift she truly wants now is Dylan's love, but when he discovers the secret she's been keeping, she may lose him again?this time forever.

This  a classic Susan Mallery story revamped and re-released for the holidays. Molly was 14 years old when Dylan Black left town after her sister broke his heart and married someone else. Before leaving he made her a promise. He gave her the wedding ring meant for her sister and told her to come see him when she needed a adventure.  Years later A series of bad things happen to Molly in  one week. Finding that ring reminds her of Dylan and she looks him up and wants to take him up on that adventure. Dylan can't get over how grown up Molly is and even though he always felt affection for her he is suddenly feeling that at more. He proposes a trip where he decides where they go. Taking off on his motorcycle both Dylan and Molly feel lighter right away. Loved the idea of this story. Molly has some secrets and Dylan can only guess at what they are at first but slowly he wins her trust and she reveals everything. I liked this book but there are places you can feel it's dated and places where it seems to drag just a little. Still a over all enjoyable read set during the holidays but not necessarily about the holidays. A feel good read by the end!

As the brains behind wedding site TyingTheKnot.com, Callie sees it all: from the ring to the dress, the smiles . . . to the tears. It's that last part that keeps her single and not looking. Getting left at the altar will do that to a girl. But when Callie returns to her old hometown, she finds that her sweet high school crush is sexier than ever. And he makes it hard to remember why she's sworn off love . . .

Tanner is a deep-sea diver with a wild, adrenaline-junkie past—and now his teenage son is back in his life. How can Tanner be a role model when he's still paying for his own mistakes? It's hard enough that gorgeous Callie has appeared in town like a beautiful dream, challenging his best-laid plans to keep his heart on lock down. Though there's something about being around her again that makes him feel like he can be the man she—and his son—deserve. Little Lucky Harbor holds their past; can it hold a beautiful new future?

The last book in the Lucky Harbor series! Wow i can't believe this is the end. We go out with Tanner and Callie.  Tanner has always been about responsibility. Ever since his teenage girlfriend came up pregnant and even before he's been working at getting to a place where he is comfortable financially and making sure everyone he cared about is taken care of as well. He was doing well on his own when Callie shows up in his life. Callie was left at the alter and back in Lucky Harbor she comes face to face with her ex and his wife while at the same time dealing with her old high school crush at the same time. Tanner is of course that crush. Tanner and Callie have a place in my heart. Not only are they our last couple but for some reason they really clicked for me. When you add in Tanner teenage son and their interactions with him it kind of clinches things.Amazingly fun and romantic Jill Shalvis brings it home once again with her characters that are full of life and humor while also likable and down to earth. Amazing series from book one to done!

Nick –Leader of the half-breeds and the last true hero. He’s spent his life fighting a dark pull toward the gods. A pull he now knows is linked to his father Krónos and the Titan’s plan to escape from the Underworld.

But Nick’s hidden powers are coveted by more than just his father. Imprisoned by Hades, Nick battles every form of torture imaginable as the sadistic god schemes to break him. Only one thing is keeping him sane. One woman who gives him the strength to fight the relentless darkness. She has a dangerous plan of her own, though, and as Nick’s powers grow stronger, even she might not be enough to alter his destiny.

As the fate of the world hangs in the balance, Nick’s allegiances are tested. And no one knows whether he will choose to fight for good or succumb to the sinister lure of evil. Not even him.

I never thought i would like a series of books like this. Yes there are hot sexy alpha men but that doesn't always equal a good book for everyone every time. I started this series late with a book somewhere in the middle. I liked it so much i went back to the beginning to start with book one. In this installment we finally get to Nick. Nick was always a bit of a mystery to me in this series. It took me a while to like him although he intrigued me from the first time i got to meet him. The more i read about him the more i liked him but now finally we get to the real nitty gritty that is Nick. He always came across as one tough kick ass guy but now we find out he has vulnerabilities like everyone else. Poor Nick has to share his soul mate with his brother which has been nothing but annoying and painful because although he gets all the emotions that go with it his brother is the one who has her heart. Now being held prisoner and being tortured he's stayed tough but it's a close thing. The woman who is tasked to deliver that torture might his salvation or his demise. Cynna is forced to torture Nick. She's made a deal with Hades she is pretty sure was a huge mistake so it's go with what he says or it all falls apart. As the days go by her resolve to keep at it slowly falling away. There is something about Nick that she is drawn too and it goes the same for Nick but neither one can let the other one know because for both it means showing that weakness. All i can say is this one really tore me up. The torture Nick is going through is hard to read about and even the things that Cynna has to endure. Once things get going you realize there are some deep dark secrets at play here as well. This is book really takes Nick and opens him up to expose so much of who he really is and Cynna who is a new character as well. You just want it to really work out for them because they deserve it so much. When it comes to this series that's true for each book though. You really need it to work out because the characters deserve it so much. Another amazing edition to the Eternal Guardians series by Elisabeth Naughton.

ARC Book review:Rock Courtship (Rock Kiss #1.5) by Nalini Singh

Available Now!
eARC provided by publisher through Netgalley

What happens when the Gentleman of Rock decides to play dirty?

A drummer for the hottest rock band on the planet, David has a single, powerful weakness: Thea, the band's publicist and the woman who steals his breath away with her every move.

Only problem is, Thea doesn't date clients--or musicians. Emotionally scarred by a cheating ex, she's not about to risk her heart with a man who has groupies buzzing around him like flies. Even if his sexy smile ties her up in knots.

What she doesn't know is that David is a one-woman man...and he's madly in love with her. David's determined to prove he's worth the risk, and willing to court her, step by exquisite step. Thea's about to discover just how long and hard this handsome drummer can play.

This is a quick novella that actually runs at the same time as book one and involves the drummer of the band, David. He's known as a gentleman and dresses and acts like it most of the time. David has the hots for Thea.
Thea is the bands publicist and likes him too but she can never let him know it. is aloof and cool around him and the ice queen professional.  With a little help from Thea's sister  he slowly makes his way in and and Thea reluctantly starts to believe in him. Old hurts are hard to forget though and Thea struggles with being away from David when he's on tour with the band. I liked Thea and David and wish they had a longer story. David had to deal with a lot to get to where he is now and yet he stays grounded and finds a way to deal with life as a rock star. Thea on the other hand had a good life but a extremely bad experience made her cut that part of herself off.
David put all his love into her though and it was fun to see their relationship being built. Loving this series so far and can't wait to find out what's next.

ARC ebook review: He's So Fine (Lucky Harbor #11) by Jill Shalvis

Available Sept 30
ARC ebook provided by Netgalley

For Olivia Bentley, Lucky Harbor is more than the town where she runs her new vintage shop. It's the place where folks are friendly to strangers-and nobody knows her real name. Olivia does a good job of keeping her past buried, not getting too cozy with anyone . . . until she sees a man drowning. Suddenly she's rushing into the surf, getting up close and personal with the hottest guy she's ever laid hands on.

Charter boat captain Cole Donovan has no problem with a gorgeous woman throwing her arms around his neck in an effort to "save" him. In fact, he'd like to spend a lot more time skin-to-skin with Olivia. He's just not expecting that real trouble is about to come her way. Will it bring her deeper into Cole's heart, or will it be the end of Olivia's days in little Lucky Harbor?

As we get ever closer to the last book in the Lucky Harbor series I'm reminded how i got hooked on book one with the original three ladies and their books. I have book one in audio as well and i enjoy listening to it and taking myself back. Do you re-read a series that has had a big impact on you? If it's a Jill Shalvis book i could totally see that, as her books always, always make me laugh, make me enjoy someone else's life for 300 or so pages. Olivia Bentley  makes a big impression on Cole Donovan when she literally jumps on his head and just about drowns him in her attempt to save him when he falls into the water. Even though Olivia tries to keep to herself now that she's brought herself front and center with Cole she's on his radar. Cole is a helper and a fixer so he's one to just jump right in and help anywhere he can. He's had a relationship in his past that left him feeling betrayed in the end and he's guarded his heart since then. Olivia is hiding something about her past that she wants to leave in the past and it's such a biggie that when she finally decides to tell him about it's hard to find the perfect moment and then it's to late. Loved these characters. Once again Jill Shalvis get's you to invest in her characters and care about them.  The secondary character's as always jump in and out of the story to entertain you as well. Not sure if i can bear to see this series comes to end but I can't wait to read the last book. It's great but bad at the same time but as always exciting!
