Is his on-again lover

plotting his downfall?

“Did you think I’d kiss you
and then agree to your terms?”
Back in town after sixteen years, Tennessee attorney Maty Taylor has to persuade her ex-lover—billionaire bourbon maker Sam Hawkins—to sell his priceless distillery. The stakes are high, since Maty’s being blackmailed to persuade him. Sensing trouble, Sam refuses the offer, even as renewed desire surges between them. But will his hidden agenda cost him a second chance with Maty?

Ah what a tangled web. Sam's ex shows up in town to help Sam's enemy. This is not the woman he knew. Things aren't always what the seem and it doesn't take long until Sam finds out why Maty is back and why shes suddenly working for a evil enemy. I enjoyed this book a little more than book one. No idea why. I think I just connected with these two more. Really interested to see how this series  is going to wrap up. One more mysterious brother to go. Then what?

When one late night changes everything! They work so well together
in
so many ways…
Nick Campbell’s life has been upended. His hated rival is the father he never knew, and his top-notch architect, Silvia Lane, is having his baby. It’s time for the billionaire to regain control. First step: get Silvia to marry him. But she’s not having it. She has her own plans for how things should go, and she wants real love or nothing!

Beginning of a new series. Nick Cambell just lost his mother, found out a one night stand is pregnant and learned who is biological father is. That's a lot to take in for anyone. Silvia Lane is the architect on a project of Nick's honoring his mother. Things got a little crazy one night and now she's pregnant with Nick's baby. Both Nick and Silvia have not so good childhoods and absent parents for one reason or another.  Both had failed short marriage's before. That's a lot stacked against them finding real love.  I liked this story . Nick gets a letter that rocks his world. It could mean a scandal that might hurt or help him. Silvia's pregnancy could mean her own scandal as she's still trying to prove herself at her company. What if all these secrets come out? There's more than just a few. While Nick and Silvia get their happy ending it's just the beginning of a much bigger story. No cliff hangers here for Nick and Silvia but you are left excited for what's next. My minds buzzing already.

eARC Book review: My Kind of Cowboy (Wranglers of Wyoming #1) by R.C. Ryan

Brand Merrick is a take-charge cowboy who loves a challenge and being in the thick of the action on his family ranch. When Brand takes a fall from his horse and the town doctor orders physical therapy, he doesn't intend to rest for long. They make a compromise that the physical therapist will come stay on the ranch for six weeks so Brand can do his exercises between his duties running the ranch. But Brand wasn't expecting to be working with beautiful, tough city-girl Avery.

Avery Grant has no patience for the sexy cowboy who makes it clear therapy is a waste of his time. She won't back down, especially since she came to Wyoming for another reason... to get away from the mysterious threats she keeps receiving. But the threats have followed her to the Merrick ranch. And soon, Brand isn't feeling quite so hostile toward his new therapist... in fact, keeping her safe becomes his only priority.

The Merrick family took a serious hit when a fire took one of their lives. Years later three young boys now adults have navigated their lives without their mother to become capable adults. Brand is the oldest and takes after his father in being a serious rancher always on the go. When a nasty fall injures his leg and it's not healing fast enough his grandmother find a physical therapist to come in a help. He's not happy about it and figures he can be surly enough to run them off. Avery Grant has been trying to measure up for her dad her whole life. Being a physical therapist is what she's decided is her dream. Not what her dad wants but she's going to do it anyway. She arrives at the Merrick ranch to find a less than enthusiastic Brand but she's not going to give up.  Avery is also getting away from a mysterious threat in Michigan where she's from but follows her to Wyoming. Love these types of books where there is all this extended family. The Merricks are a wonder multi generation family that add so much to this story. Brand is this hard ass with a soft side. It takes a bit of coaxing for Avery to get it out of him but it's there. The more time they spend together the more they don't want to be apart. Avery's time has a expiration date in Wyoming. Once the threat takes center stage at the end of the book it was easy to know who the bad guy was but i was on the edge of my seat wondering how it was going to play out. My Kind of Cowboy was a pleasure to read from page one. I can't see where the author takes us in the next book in this series.

eARC Book review: Cowboy Come Home (Once Upon a Time in Texas #2) by Carly Bloom

Some cowboys aren't cut out to be Prince Charming---and Claire Kowalski knows that better than anyone. She gave her heart to Ford Jarvis two years ago, yet that didn't keep him from disappearing into the sunset. Now that he's back in Big Verde, Texas, she's determined not to make the same mistake twice. But the ruggedly sexy cowboy still knows how to push all her buttons, and avoiding him is nearly impossible when she needs his help.

Ford didn't plan on returning home---ever---but when he hears that the Kowalski ranch is in trouble, he hightails it back to town. He's not eager to be reminded of the life he can never have, but his time in Big Verde is only temporary. He'll stay long enough to get the ranch up and running, then hit the road again. But when Ford finds out the new foreman he's training is Claire, still as stubborn and beautiful as ever, this cowboy is going to have to decide what matters most---repeating the mistakes of the past or fighting for a future with the only woman he's ever loved..

Claire Kowalski and Ford Jarvis had a thing and then they didn't. Ford believes he is cursed and doesn't deserve love. Claire is a take charge woman who can do it all and has the patience of a saint to put up with Ford. Ford was the foreman at Claire's Family ranch. When things got a little to real for Ford he panicked and took off. Two years later he's back. Even though he swears to himself he's going to keep his distance from Claire he can't. It's kind of a wash and repeat but can Ford change the outcome this time. Can Claire? I really enjoyed the story and the characters but Ford thing started getting old after a while. Overall a enjoyable book but not a stand out for me.

eARC Book review: Chasing Tail (The Dogmothers #3) by Roxanne St. Claire

When firefighter Connor Mahoney decides to run for mayor, he's confident of victory because of his brilliant idea to put Frank, a local canine hero who saved a drowning child, on the ticket with him. Then Connor gets some unwanted help from the Dogmothers, who think a pretty new arrival from Washington DC would make the perfect campaign manager for their highly-eligible bachelor grandson. But no matter how much Connor likes the idea of working with the gorgeous Sadie Hartman, she's doing her best to keep him at arm's length.

Disillusioned by politics after working in DC, Sadie doesn’t want the job, no matter how smoking hot the sexy firefighter is or how much his sweet grannies push. But then she learns that the race has another candidate – a man who was instrumental in wrecking Sadie’s family. Uncertain the “dog and firefighter” can win, she launches her own campaign to be mayor of Bitter Bark.

But Connor and Sadie are both in for a big surprise when a two-hundred year old law is unearthed to upend the entire election. Then, the only way for Sadie or Connor to save the town from a terrible mayor is to join forces in a way no one is expecting. As Sadie and Connor discover that the best part of running against each other is literally being against each other, it doesn't take long to figure out that sometimes winning the race means losing your heart.

Connor and Sadie have a past although one of them doesn't remember that history. Connor beat Sadie in a high school election and now they're both on the ballot for mayor in Bitter Bark in a effort to stop another candidate they both don't like and would be horrible for the town. Connor and his new dog Frank join up with Sadie to help each other. Things get a little intense when they have to get engaged to stay in the running.  Loved this book. It starts slow but building up to a quick a startling ending.  I'm not talking about the mayor race either. I loved watching Connor and Sadie get to know each other and of course the animals steal the show. All of Connor's huge family add a lot of fun to the mix as always. a solid fun and exciting story.
