eARC Book review: The Hitwoman Goes to Prison (Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman #21) by J.B. Lynn
eARC Provided by author
Available Dec 27th 2019
Family is everything.
That’s the motto Maggie Lee lives by. She’s proven that she’ll do anything (even become an assassin…albeit an inept one, as God likes to remind her) to take care of those she loves.
Even when they drive her crazy.
But as Maggie attempts to reunite a young boy with his mother, her own family is in danger of falling apart.
The human members are facing a heartbreaking loss, the animals are mutinying against one of their own, and a missing skull is causing trouble for everyone.
Maggie may be able to save an innocent’s life, but can she save her family?
Maggie is in a constant state of crazy. Her family seems to finally be settling in at her Grandfather's farm but all is not well for very long. There's a new animal in the family fold and skull to be found with a mysterious past and a sister leaving town. While Maggie solves one problem new ones crop up. A crazy whirlwind of animal and danger Maggie handles it all somehow. Each installment of this series keeps me riveted from beginning to end. The author manages to keep the story fresh and interesting. Always a wonderful evening read.

eARC Book review: The Rancher's Redemption (The Millers of Morgan Valley Book 2) by Kate Pearce
eARC Provided by publisher through Netgalley
Available now
Widowed for ten years, now running the family ranch, Adam Miller is no longer the fun-loving guy who married his high school sweetheart the moment they graduated. His bitterness in the aftermath of her death even alienated his closest link to her—Lizzie Taylor, her best friend. But when Adam comes across Lizzie in a dire situation, he’s compelled to help—and finds himself with an unusual opportunity to make amends . . .
A struggling single mom, Lizzie’s extremely wealthy ex ran out on her when she got pregnant. But now he and his family have decided to fight for custody of her young son. When Adam shocks her by offering to pose as her partner, awkward as it may feel, it’s Lizzie’s best chance to hold onto her child. And as they strive to present a united front, their old friendship rekindles, sparking an unexpected attraction—along with past hurts and secrets. Soon they realize they’ll have to find a way to forgive if they want to move forward—especially with each other . . .
Adam and Lizzie were friends growing up then Adam fell for Lizzie's best friend and married her. Short years later his wife died and Adam has mourned her ever since. Now 14 years later Lizzie is back in town with her son Roman trying to make a life for herself. Lizzie has a problem when family of the father of her son start harassing her. Suddenly wanting visitation rights and trying to prove she's unfit. Adam takes this chance to try and make amends. This was a complex story and parts of it were really good and parts that left me thinking what the heck. I've really enjoyed this series but this book left me scratching my head at times. I'm hoping the next book will redeem my admiration of this series. There's a bonus short story at the end of this book that was fun to read.

eARC Book review: Dachshund Through the Snow (The Dogmothers #2.5) by Roxanne St. Claire
Available Dec. 3rd 2019
eARC Provided by author.
Agnes Santorini, known as "Yiayia" to her Greek clan, only has one thing on her Christmas list -- a brown short-haired dachshund that matches the one she dreamed about, certain that pup can save her aging heart. When she learns that a local man has this very dog for adoption, she and her partner-in-crime, Gramma Finnie, leash up their current doxies and join forces with their great-granddaughter to get their paws on the pooch.
But things don't go quite as smoothly as expected. A quick walk through the town of Bitter Bark turns complicated when the dog's owner has a simple demand, which sets off a series of events that have two grannies and one girl dashing through the snow with two dogs in tow. As they meet every demand and overcome every obstacle, Yiayia shares the secret of her past...and reveals just why this is the canine angel she needs to save her.
But even if they manage to get the dog under their Christmas tree, that might not be where the little fellow belongs. And maybe, just maybe, Yiayia's heart can be healed by a completely different kind of love...the kind that only comes at Christmas.
Agnes Santorini and Grammie Finnie have become best friends since their families have merged. Agnes is on a mission to get a short hair dachshund. She's been waiting to find this particular dog and enlists Grammy Finnie and Pru to help her get it. While on this mission we get some of Agnes's backstory. Why she's the way she is. Pru has her own drama as well and then you toss in bits and pieces of the rest of the families and it's a fun and emotional read. If you're reading this series you won't want to miss this novella. If you haven't started now is as good a time as any.

In the Heart of Texas, a heartthrob cowboy may get his second chance at love…
Danny Oldman, the handsome Lone Star sheriff, is still single. He tells himself, and anyone who asks, that he is married to his job―and what matters most is keeping the people of his beloved Texas hometown safe. The truth? Danny still hasn’t gotten over his high school crush. She moved away after graduation and took Danny’s heart with her.
Skylar Long never thought she would have to flee Houston and return home―where it all began for her. But that’s what happened after the man of her dreams turned out to be an actual nightmare. Now, Skylar is desperate to escape her obsessive boyfriend. Nothing shocks her more than seeing Danny again and realizing that their long-ago attraction is more powerful than ever. But can she and Danny find a way to fight against Skylar’s wealthy, powerful ex who is dead set on tearing them apart?
Danny Oldman had a crush on Skylar Long way back in high school. Contemplating where he is in his life one evening he didn't expect her to show up in his life and with a huge problem. Yet there she is parked in the car next to him and a guy smashing her window trying to get her. While i enjoyed the book overall the pacing was weird for me. It seemed to click along pretty quickly at times it seem to drag and there was a lot of inner dialogue that characters had going that went no where. I started skimming those parts. Next think you know there's this big climatic ending. Skylar and Danny seemed to fall into a sexual relationship really quick for her literally just escaping a violent relationship. Not my favorite book in the series but still a enjoyable read.

eARC Book review: Tangled Up In Christmas (Texas Heat #2) by Lisa Renee Jones
Available Now!
eARC Provided by publisher through Netgalley
I might be a country girl from the same small town of Sweetwater, Texas, as horse wrangler Roarke Frost, the girl next door who knows him like few know him, but I didn't know enough to save my heart.
He's the reason why I left Sweetwater behind.
But now fate proves she loves a wicked twist and sends me back to Sweetwater to pull together a Christmas festival—and I run smack into the man again, quite literally. His body is pressed to mine, his hands on my arms, and I'm melting like chocolate in the sizzling Texas sunshine. And I run.
I know it’s not exactly respectable, but it works, just not for long. No matter how much I try to get tangled up in Christmas, I end up tangled up in Roarke instead—and the man has me feeling the heat of our attraction and the warmth of our past friendship. He feels like Mr. Right, but history says he’s Mr. Wrong.
But if he wants a second chance, Roarke Frost is going to have to work for it. He’ll need to prove to me that this holiday is a season of new beginnings, the kind that last forever.
Roarke and Hannah used to be a item. Close as could be and even engaged. Someone conspired against them and tore them apart. Now Roarke has a chance to get Hannah back and he isn't going to waste it. Hannah still loves him but can she trust him. This is a classic second chance story. LOVED Roarke. He doesn't give up and Hannah tried to resist and protect her heart but she doesn't know that what she thinks happened way back when never did. Can Roarke convince her to let him back in? All these questions are answered. There's not much for angst in this book but it was still a enjoyable read. There's even a extra story at the end of this book to sweeten the goodness.

Alex Santorini puts his family first and foremost, and that's going to keep him behind the grill at the family restaurant for the rest of his life, especially if his Greek grandmother has anything to say about it. But when a local winery needs a chef to step in to cook for a celebrity wedding, Alex jumps at the opportunity to showcase his culinary skills...and a chance to get closer to the winery owner who has captivated - and refused - his attention.
Grace Donovan is in a bind and knows that the answer to all her problems is one sexy Greek chef who has everything she needs...and everything that scares the hell out of her. Raised in a series of ever-changing foster homes, Grace has spent her life using science and logic to surround herself with protective walls. With all his passion and intensity, Alex could burn those walls down and, like everyone else in her life, leave her broken and alone.
As Alex and Grace join forces to land the wedding of the year, they also launch a search for the mother of a three puppies abandoned at the winery...only to discover a shocking connection to Grace's own mother and her shadowy past. When the truth comes out, their romance faces its greatest test. Will Grace choose the family she's wanted her whole life...or the love she may never find again?
Alex and John Santorini are identical twins. They may look the same but their personalities are very different. Alex has dreamed of being a chef with his own place to work his culinary magic. Due to family loyalty he's stayed with the family delicatessen to honor his late father. Grace Donovan had a dream of finding her lost family. They gave her up and she needs to know why. Her other dream was owning a winery and when that chance came about she grabbed it. Now she's in a bind needing a chef and wouldn't you know it Alex is a chef. Perfect right? Alex is attracted to Grace and has been trying everything he can to get her attention and strike up a conversation. It isn't until he starts helping her with her chef problem that they finally start to connect. Grace is a tough nut to crack but Alex has the confidence and drive to not only help her with her work problems but crack that barrier on her emotional problems. I loved Alex and Grace. They were a team. They worked great together and all of Alex's huge family was behind the pair adding to the fun in this story.

eARC Book review: One Christmas Eve (Cedar Street #2) by Shannon Stacey
Available November 11th 2019
eARC Provided by publisher through Netgalley
Zoe Randall is busy living her life as she damn well pleases. She’s back in her favorite town, her divorce in her rearview mirror, and living out her childhood dream of running a bookstore with her cousin. She has no interest in the uptight nerd who opened his boring-ass business next to her shop…until he complains about one of her sexy window displays.
Then it’s game on.
Preston Wheeler knows he takes life a little too seriously. But when the saucy bookseller next door starts pushing his buttons, he can feel that changing. Beautiful, vivacious Zoe challenges him in all the best ways, and soon he’s pushing her buttons right back: teasing and flirting all the way through the holiday season.
As Preston loosens up and Zoe is treated to the man behind the suit (particularly his forearms), she realizes she’s more interested than she cares to admit. And Preston comes to see the beauty—the absolute delight—in adding Zoe’s bright splashes of color to his once very black-and-white existence.
Preston is the serious guy who moves in next door to the book store cousins Carly and Zoe own. Zoe is the fun loving cousin who does the window displays in the book store front window. It all starts there when Preston gives her a disapproving look for the one she has in the window for Halloween. Opposite attract and even if they kind of don't like each other at first they are definitely attracted to each other. The more time they spend with each other the more they realize they might just be good for each other. Old hang ups though have a way of messing things up though. LOVED this story. It's quick it's fun and the characters are all likable. If you like your Christmas themed stories this one had that too. This is a novella length book so things happen fast but it's a great evening or weekend read.

Even a good man makes mistakes…
In Maggie Lee’s topsy-turvy world, Angel Delveccio is one of the good guys, but now it seems he’s gotten himself into some trouble. Can Maggie get him out of it?
It’s not like she doesn’t have enough problems of her own. She’s struggling to pacify both the people and pets of her household -- all of whom aren’t shy about voicing their litany of complaints and demands about their new home.
Stretched thin, Maggie attempts to broker familial peace while simultaneously contending with an external threat that revolves around a human skull.
And let’s not forget that a certain mobster has tasked her with keeping his nephew out of hot water.
Can Maggie protect Angel while keeping her family safe and together, or will someone be lost?
Maggie is stretched thin yet again as she deals with her large crazy family. Never a dull moment for Maggie. There always seems to be something going on that requires her immediate attention. Maggie has slowly been growing into herself though and in this book she turns a little take charge girl with her family and the men in her life. Totally kickass! How she juggles everyone and everything in her life i have no idea. I do know i am always totally entertained and drawn in to each one of these stories. JB Lynn makes you care about the characters. Always keeps you guessing at what's going to happen to Maggie next.

eARC Book review: Meant to Be Yours (Happily Inc. #5) by Susan Mallery

Wedding coordinator Renee Grothen isn’t meant for marriage. Those who can, do. Those who can’t, plan. But she never could have planned on gorgeous, talented thriller writer Jasper Dembenski proposing—a fling, that is. Fun without a future. And the attraction between them is too strong for Renee to resist. Now she can have her no-wedding cake…and eat it, too.
After years in the military, Jasper is convinced he’s too damaged for relationships. So a flirtation—and more—with fiery, determined Renee is way too good to pass up…until his flame becomes his muse.
Renee is an expert at averting every crisis. But is she finally ready to leap into the one thing that can never be controlled: love?
Renee is a wedding planner that never wants to get married. That being said it seems like a weird choice for a career. Growing up she had some problems with a unique gift her mother has. She loves her but basically avoids having her mom visit her if she can. Jasper is a military veteran whose had some intense action while deployed and it's haunted him for a long while. He also doesn't think he's cut out for love and marriage because of his PTDS and everything that goes with that. I liked both characters. Basically right from the start they have a one night stand that turns into a friends with benefits agreement and but immediately it doesn't follow that. Overall i enjoyed the book but pacing was strange. There's this big getting together at the beginning of the book and then it's like that didn't really happen. They kept seeing each other and spend time together but the benefits part of friends with benefits didn't really happen much. Renee's mother shows up and her "gift" is a odd gift that seems a bit off the wall. When it all comes out Jasper doesn't believe it until he sees it and then that's it everyone is OK with it. It makes Renee's reaction to the gift seem over blown. Disappointed in how over the top Renee is with the whole i can't trust love especially toward the end of the story. This story was ok but definitely not my favorite of the series. I feel the secondary characters really helped this one along.

Ilya Dragonovich is no stranger to the dark side. As a safe-house owner for security agency Brute Force, Dragon knows that the battle line between good and evil runs through the heart of every man―and, sometimes, a beautiful woman…
Emma Jane Preston needs help. After her marriage crumbled, she believed she could get back to a normal, happy life. But her ex-husband moved among some shady characters, and now she needs the kind of protection that comes at a cost―one that only someone like Dragon can provide. But can Emma Jane trust this handsome, undercover operator to keep her safe when she is in danger of falling into the arms of the deeply seductive, fiery Dragon. . .and never letting go?
This is the third book the Brute Force series but the first book in this series for me. Ilya has a dark past but when he meets the woman he wants for his own that past might be the very thing that make him lose her forever. Emma Jane married young and that marriage quickly turned to crap. Now stuck because of her vengeful ex Ilya comes to help her when she is attacked in her home. This book is typical of Lora Leigh's writing. A little bit of a paranormal flavor with some romantic suspense. Lots of sexy erotic sex scenes and hot alpha men. I loved that Ilya called Emma by her first and middle name. It was adorable and she called him Dragon also adorable. The editing left something to be desired but I'm hoping the final version of this book was better. Some things in this book were a bit out there. Characters from previous books mentioned once and then nothing. Over all i enjoyed the book. For me the main characters were just so hot together that i didn't care about some of the things that didn't work for me.

eARC Book review: Keeping Score (Willow Creek Book 1) by Shannon Stults

With everything on the line, it's game on
Logan Kase has reveled in being Willow Creek's infamous wild child until one detrimental decision proved it was time for a change. Years later, Logan is back in her small hometown and ready to prove to everyone (especially herself) that she's not that same girl anymore. But the new life she's so carefully constructed starts to tear apart the second she runs into Cole Tucker.
Logan thought she'd put her childhood rival and their adolescent games behind her, but it takes her only one night before she’s forced into one final game, a series of hilariously immature challenges that has the whole town keeping score. A game that, should she lose, could destroy everything she's built her new life around.
Cole Tucker and Logan Kase have been going at each other for years. Cole always have feeling for Logan but Logan never realized it. Then when she finally saw him as something more and they gave in to sex a misunderstanding set them apart for 4 years. Now Logan is back with a fiance and the idea she's different now. No more wild girl. That lasts about 5 minutes. These two decide on one more bet and that's when things get crazy. Logan can't decide what she wants and Cole is to scared to put his feeling out there. That bugged me often in this book. Their both young so i suppose you could see that but at the same time it was annoying at points. I enjoyed the writing and the story but sometimes it was just to much. The ending i loved. Overall it was a good read i would read again and follow along to the next book in the series.

eARC Book review: Wrapped Up in You (Heartbreaker Bay #8) by Jill Shalvis

It’s love. Trust me.
After a lifetime on the move, Ivy Snow is an expert in all things temporary—schools, friends, and way too many Mr. Wrongs. Now that she owns a successful taco truck in San Francisco and an apartment to call home, Ivy’s reinvented life is on solid ground. And she’s guarded against anything that can rock it. Like the realities of a past she’s worked hard to cover up. And especially Kel O’Donnell. Too hot not to set off alarms, he screams temporary. If only his whispers weren’t so delightfully naughty and irresistible.
Kel, an Idaho sheriff and ranch owner, is on vacay, but Ivy’s a spicy reason to give his short-terms plans a second thought. Best of all, she’s a tonic for his untrusting heart, burned once and still in repair. But when Ivy’s past intrudes on a perfect romance, Kel fears that everything she’s told him has been a perfect lie. Now, if only Ivy’s willing to share, Kel will fight for a true love story.
Ivy Snow has spent her life surviving and moving around. Her brother is a bit of a bum and trouble maker. Usually leading that trouble to Ivy. With all that, she's remained someone with a good heart and good morals. Kel is a cop through and through. He had a incident in Sunshine Idaho where he worked that injured him and so now he's on a bit of a vacation in San Francisco hanging out and working with his cousin. Years ago he had a falling out with his mother that caused his to not trust love. Jill Shalvis is the kind of author whose books make you laugh and maybe make you cry a bit too. Most people who read her books know Kel has been a secondary character in another series of hers. Luckily for us he's moved over to this series and finally we find out more about him and he gets his HEA. He doesn't get it easily and he messes it up before it's all over. Ivy is one of those tough chicks that's a tough chick because he's always had to be one. Her heart is surrounded by a layer of titanium. Somehow Kel works his way in there. Nothing is simple for Ivy though and she loses all her dreams in one night. Jill Shalvis writes characters you will root for. Her character are fresh and fun and you want to be a part of the group. This book is the kind you read with a smile on your face and wish you could read it all over again for the first time.

Jade Mackenzie left her high-society family’s expectations behind when she came back to cozy Haven, and she’s never been happier. But what’s supposed to be a quick trip to Nashville for a cousin’s wedding turns into a disaster when one of the airport’s pilots offers to fly her there. One crash landing and a shared room later, and tattooed, bearded Cash Miller is standing in as her gorgeously unsuitable plus-one—and turning her on in ways she can’t deny. But a relationship? A real one? That’s definitely in the no-fly zone.
Vincent “Cash” Miller doesn’t have much in the world, but he does have pride—and a strict policy not to let anyone trash-talk his friends, not even their mothers. Standing up for sexy, headstrong Jade comes naturally—but so does the bone-deep itch for her he’s always wanted to scratch. Giving in to attraction is one thing, but commitment is another. So why does it feel like together, love might take them to breathtaking heights?
Three best friends and three cousins. They've all hooked up except the last two. Jade and Cash though have been like oil and water so far though. Rubbing each other the wrong way. Then when they experience their plane having to crash land Jade sees Cash in a different light. Enlisting Cash to be her plus one for her pretentious cousins wedding helps too. Jade comes from money so most people think she's a stuck chick. That's not Jade not that her mother hasn't tried to hook her up with the "right" people. Cash had a alcoholic father whose in and out of rehab. It's something he doesn't share with a lot of people. These two are a bit of opposites attract when in reality they aren't that opposite as you might think. Both struggle with pride and feeling unworthy of love. Jules Bennett makes you love them both even as you want to give them a shake sometimes. She puts you right in the story and makes you want to be one of those friends .

Stella has been trying to please her father forever. Being with Dane gives her the courage to take a stand that doesn't end well for her and only gets worse when Dane confesses his secrets. A lot of secrets in this story. I like Dane and Stella. The author makes you care about the characters. While Dane and Stella's story is going on you get glimpse's of Dane's brother Ethan. Both brothers are trying to get their mother's resorts back in their names. These stories take place at the same time. The duet to this book comes out soon so you're not left waiting for a wrap up.

He hates the corporate world.
She's all business.
Now they have to work together
on the one job that could
make or break them both...
Connor became a flight medic
for one reason, and
one reason only.
To help people.
If he can keep his head down
and his past in the past while he's at it?
Even better.
Until Harlow appears to upend his world
with an offer he can't refuse.
She's calculating. Composed.
Scalpel-sharp.
And she'll stop at nothing to make
her father's business successful.
Even if that means teaming up with Connor
to turn around a failing clinic.
He shouldn't like her.
He definitely shouldn't want her.
But the more they work together
the less he's able to resist.
But Connor's secrets run deep.
Will Harlow's ambition ruin him,
or will she be his salvation?
Connor Bradshaw has been hiding a secret for a long while now. Only a few people know about his past. He's been trying to pay a debt that's never really been his to pay. Now he's got this great opportunity to give more and help more people. It puts him in a precarious position of possibly exposing his secret and losing this opportunity. He's been a combat medic in the military but now working as a nurse at Remington Medical. He's quick and a efficient at his job and is part of a family there with his fellow colleagues. Harlow Davenport is the business women sent to help him fix the huge failure that is the medical clinic at Remington. She's tough as nails but the clinic means a lot to her as it bears her mothers name. This means she's got to find a way to work with Connor. Not a easy thing for the all work no play Harlow. I was excited to see how Connor's story would play out since book one. He's one of those stand out characters that you instantly like. Harlow on the other hand is likable but frustrating woman because she's wound so tight. Work is all she does. She's got her own issues with trying to please her father and not properly getting to grieve her mothers passing. In the midst of trying to save the clinic they both learn to trust each other but when everything seems to be lost forever will they crumble? In the end i loved them as a couple. The people at Remington Medical took Harlow in and made her one of their own. The characters of this series have all found a place in my heart for the comradery they show each other. Can't wait to see what happens next!

He's a Special Forces veteran making his pro hockey debut. She's a dogged sports reporter determined to get a scoop. She's also his best friend's widow...
Fans can’t get enough of Levi Hunt, the Special Forces veteran who put his NHL career on hold to serve his country and fight the bad guys. So when his new Chicago Rebels bosses tell him to cooperate with the press on a profile, he’s ready to do his duty. Until he finds out who he has to work with: flame-haired, freckle-splashed, impossibly perky Jordan Cooke.
The woman he should not have kissed the night she buried her husband, Levi’s best friend in the service.
Hockey-stick-up-his-butt-serious Levi Hunt might despise Jordan for reasons she can’t fathom—okay, it’s to do with kissing—but her future in the cutthroat world of sports reporting hangs on delivering the goods on the league’s hottest, grumpiest rookie. So what if he’s not interested in having his life plated up for public consumption. Too bad. Jordan will have to play dirty to get her scoop and even dirtier to get her man. Only in winning the story, she might just lose her heart..
Levi Hunt is the newest addition to the Chicago Rebels. A special Forces veteran He's a little old to be a rookie but he here now and hopefully ready. Jordan Cooke is trying to make a name for herself as a sports reporter. Her big chance comes when she's tasked to write a profile on the new rookie. Problems is Levi and Jordan know each other. Jordan's husband was Levi's best friend in the military and was killed in action. I liked Levi and Jordan well enough but this story was to all over the place for me. To much going on. It took me a while to read this. What saved it for me was all the secondary characters. I couldn't believe Jordan would ever leave her laptop where the competition could see it. Levi aggravated me with the idea he wasn't good enough for her. It's just old. It was a ok story for me but nothing i would reread over and over.

eARC Book review: Million Dollar Marriage (Million Dollar #2) by Katy Evans
Available July 23rd 2019
eARC Provided by publisher through Netgalley
If someone had bet Nell a million dollars that she would be saying “I do” to a complete stranger on national television, she’d have called them crazy, but with her crushing student loan payments sending her deep into the red, she’s out of options. This should be nothing more than a business transaction—until she sets eyes on her groom, and everything changes.
The game is on the instant Luke spots Penelope “Nell” Carpenter. He’s out for the money, yes, but getting a little dirty with Nell doesn’t sound too bad either. Everyone knows he’s not the marrying kind, so it’s a good thing it’s just for show. God knows he’s the worst guy his pretty wife should pick for real.
They have nothing in common, but if they want the grand prize, they’ll have to beat out eight other couples. Proving that total opposites attract should be easy enough…as long as they don’t fall in love in the process.
Nell and Luke both need a hug infusion of cash to pay off some big debts. Both try out for a new reality show not knowing much about it. Nell is pretty sure she won't get picked she's kind of a nerd and a brainiac stick in the mud. Luke on the other hand is kind of the life of the party. Makes friends easily and i open to anything. Complete opposites. They both end up getting in and paired together and then married for the two weeks of the contest. I loved watching these two. Both had some problems in their pasts and very different in nature. It's kind of a rocky start to say the least but these two slowly come together. Luke could easily have been a jerk as Nell was really hard to get along with at first but he gets her to open up and he's patient. He sees things in her she doesn't see in herself. You literally watch her confidence grow. Luke seems like he let's nothing slow him down but Nell is this immensely smart woman and he didn't finish high school. Yet she makes him feel brilliant. Like all good stories there someone working against them. Other competitors and the shows producers needing that high ratings and when their finally ready to let the world know they've fallen in love in all comes crashing down. I admit i laughed alot reading this. It's easy to get lost in these two. I do not watch much reality TV especially shows like this one so I didn't think I'd enjoy this the way i did. A definite fun read.

Thinking that's all she's ever going to have she promises herself she'll confess to him in the morning. Except it turns out not to be just a one night thing. I loved this book. For a shorter book, around 225 pages it packs a wallop. Somehow the author tells a story that feels a whole lot longer than it actually is. I loved Reid. Poor guy is more beat up on the inside than even he thinks he is. Drew has her own insecurities and Reid good for her but Drew is everything Reid needs. In the end it left me wanting more. Thank goodness there's another book coming in this series.

eARC Book review: The Summer of Sunshine and Margot by Susan Mallery
eARC Provided by publisher through Netgalley
The Baxter sisters come from a long line of women with disastrous luck in love. But this summer, Sunshine and Margot will turn disasters into destiny…
As an etiquette coach, Margot teaches her clients to fit in. But she’s never faced a client like Bianca, an aging movie star who gained fame—and notoriety—through a campaign of shock and awe. Schooling Bianca on the fine art of behaving like a proper diplomat’s wife requires intensive lessons, forcing Margot to move into the monastery turned mansion owned by the actress’s intensely private son. Like his incredible home, Alec’s stony exterior hides secret depths Margot would love to explore. But will he trust her enough to let her in?
Sunshine has always been the good-time sister, abandoning jobs to chase after guys who used her, then threw her away. No more. She refuses to be “that girl” again. This time, she’ll finish college, dedicate herself to her job as a nanny, and she 100 percent will not screw up her life again by falling for the wrong guy. Especially not the tempting single dad who also happens to be her boss.
This is a story about two sisters who decide to change themselves for the better and not repeat the mistakes of the past. I enjoyed seeing these two sisters interact with each other. Each being the others biggest cheerleader. Margot is a etiquette coach and she bites of more than she can chew with Bianca. While she's trying to help Bianca she's also helping Alec Bianca's son open up. Alec has learned because of his mothers sometimes strange behavior to protect himself and to live a planned and quiet life until Margot walks in and makes him feel things he's locked out. Sunshine never sticks. She's a nanny and is great at it but leaves them abruptly for men. She wants to change that and find real love and get a degree and a live happily ever after. Declan is a widow with a young son. He finds himself attracted to Sunshine but good morals tells him he can't act on it since he's her boss. This was a complex story with lots of twists and turns. The author kept switching from one couple to the other which was at sometimes annoying because you would just got sucked in when it changed to the other sister. I guess that's what's supposed happen though. I was really rooting for both sisters to find their happy. Loved Declan and Alec even though at times Alec was annoying. A great summer beach read or backyard hammock.

eARC Book review: Sisters of Summer's End (Summer Resort #2) by Lori Foster
Available now!
eARC provided by publisher through Netgalley
As the summer ends, friendship begins...When single mom Joy Lee abandoned her old life to take a job at a lakeside resort, she found something that her family's wealth and influence could never buy: peace of mind. Not easy to come by for the once-burned divorce who keeps everyone at a distance. But when her new friend, Maris, dares her to take a chance with the drive-in's charismatic new owner, everything changes for Joy and her young son. A difficult childhood has left Maris Kennedy with definite priorities. Her job running Summer's End, the camp store and cafe, comes first. Always. Nothing could ever make her risk that hard-won security--especially not her free-spirited colleague. But the more she encourages Joy to open herself up to new experiences, the more Maris begins to wonder what she, too, might be missing. Learning how to trust will bring Joy and Maris together.
And soon they form a friendship that leaves them as close as sisters--and open to love where they least expect it...in Summer's End.
Joy and Maris have worked at the same RV park for years. Maris has slowly tried to get Joy to open up more and be a friend to Joy. Finally it starts to happen. Turns out Maris needed that friendship too. As they become close as friends each finds a love interest. Royce buys the Drive in Next door and takes a interest in Joy. Royce and Joy each have their own past baggage to deal with but tentatively decide to explore their interest in each other. Each promising they don't have time for a serious relationship and their not in a place to explore anything that serious. Daron works at the park with the ladies doing all the maintenance among other things. He's had a thing for Maris for years. Maris though has had a hard upbringing and that has taught her to always put her self first and to plan plan plan. Nothing outside of the plan. With help from Joy she finally opens herself up a little for Daron and decides to explore their attraction to each other. This was a lovely story. I enjoyed both couples and watching them figure out that it's OK to open up and let others in. Be it friendships or more. I loved how Royce interacted with James Joy's little boy. I liked how the two clicked and became more like father and son and Royce accepting him immediately as someone important to him. A great summer read!

eARC Book review: The Lemon Sisters (Wildstone #3) by Jill Shalvis
Available June 18th 2019
eARC Provided by publisher through Netgalley
When Brooke’s older sister, Mindy, shows up at her door with her three kids in tow, she barely recognizes her sibling who looks like she’s on the verge of a total breakdown. While adventurous, wanderlust Brooke was always the problem child, eager to slip free of Wildstone and its small-town constraints, Mindy was the golden child, who never had a hair out of place or a GPA below 4.0. The Mindy that arrives at Brooke’s apartment however, is a far cry from the ever-perfect doctor’s wife.
Brooke’s further stunned when Mindy asks to trade places with her for a few days so she can pick up her pieces and put herself back together. What Mindy doesn’t realize is that Brooke is just as broken. Her sister needs her though, so Brooke takes the kids and returns to Wildstone.
But how does one go home after seven years away and what feels like a lifetime of secrets? It doesn’t take long for Brooke to come face-to-face with her past, in the form of one tall, dark, sexy mistake. But Garrett’s no longer interested, or so he says. Only his words don’t match his actions, leaving Brooke feeling things she long ago shoved deep.
The sisters begin to wonder if the childhood taunts were true, are they lemons in life? In love? True or not, they know one thing—you can’t run far enough to outpace your demons. And when long-dead secrets surface, they’ll have to overcome their differences and learn that sometimes the one person who can help you the most is the one you never thought to ask.
Brooke and her sister used to be close. Close as two sisters can be. Then things changed. Mindy got married and started having kids and seemed to have a perfect life. Brooke left town to live her dream as a adventure photographer. It all seemed to be going OK until the Helicopter crash that ended all that and almost ended here. Not Brooke is working for the same company but behind the scenes. Slowly falling to pieces. Then her sisters shows up at her house with her three kids. She's always thought her sister was the perfect one. Always had it together and always had a plan. Her sister looks like something the cat dragged in. Literally! Brooke trades places with her sister Mindy. Giving Mindy a break to pull herself together she heads back Wildstone only to find her sexy ex boyfriend lives next door. The one she left without a backward glance. I have not read the two books before this one in the series. Was not a issue at all. This is definitely a stand alone. I love the sisters. The dialogue between the sisters was hilarious and I'm think any mom of kids can relate to the sister Mindy. Brooke is the fun aunt of course. Garrett is the man she left behind and there is definitely some animosity there but love too. After all the years they were apart it's still there but is it enough. There is of course some secrets to deal with as well. Loved this book it entertained me from page one. Jill Shalvis delivers again!
