Return to New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s darkly passionate Guild Hunter world, where human-turned-angel Elena Deveraux, consort to Archangel Raphael, is thrust center stage into an eons-old prophecy....

Midnight and dawn, Elena’s wings are unique among angelkind…and now they’re failing. The first mortal to be turned into an immortal in angelic memory, she’s regressing. Becoming more and more human. Easier to hurt. Easier to kill.

Elena and Raphael must unearth the reason for the regression before it’s too late and Elena falls out of the sky. Yet even as they fight a furious battle for Elena’s very survival, violent forces are gathering in New York and across the world.

In China, the Archangel Favashi is showing the first signs of madness. In New York, a mysterious sinkhole filled with lava swallows a man whole. In Africa, torrential monsoon rains flood rolling deserts. And in Elena’s mind whispers a haunting voice that isn’t her own.

This time, survival may not be possible…not even for the consort of an archangel.

Raphael and Elena are the main focus again in this book. While Elena is no longer completely mortal it's always been a question as to what exactly she is going to end up being. They haven't been able to find any records of any other made angels in history. While slowly she seemed to be progressing in becoming and growing into her angel body she suddenly finds herself regressing. This story is fast paced but it seems like it takes a long time to get answers. While Elena is trying to figure out why her body is failing her She's trying to figure out a mystery that involves her brother in law and a killer. Raphael is dealing with his own set of issues with the new Archangel of China.  This is some edge of your seat reading. Nalini Singh is a master with words. It feels like you're on a fast speeding train toward the last page. I've got to admit there is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end of this book. It really didn't bother me because Raphael and Elena's story arc has never had a end feeling to it. There's always been a question as to what will happen with these two. I look forward to listening to this one in audio book form. Exciting from start to finish!

eARc Book review: Consumed (Firefighters ) J.R. Ward

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the popular Black Dagger Brotherhood series comes a brand-new novel about arson investigator, Anne Ashburn, who is consumed by her troubled past, her family’s scorched legacy, and her current case: chasing a deadly killer.

Anne Ashburn is a woman consumed...

By her bitter family legacy, by her scorched career as a firefighter, by her obsession with department bad-boy Danny McGuire, and by a new case that pits her against a fiery killer.

Strong-willed Anne was fearless and loved the thrill of fighting fires, pushing herself to be the best. But when one risky decision at a warehouse fire changes her life forever, Anne must reinvent not only her job, but her whole self.

Shattered and demoralized, Anne finds her new career as an arson investigator a pale substitute for the adrenaline-fueled life she left behind. She doesn't believe she will ever feel that same all-consuming passion for her job again--until she encounters a string of suspicious fires setting her beloved city ablaze.

Danny McGuire is a premiere fireman, best in the county, but in the midst of a personal meltdown. Danny is taking risks like never before and seems to have a death wish until he teams up with Anne to find the fire starter. But Danny may be more than a distraction, and as Anne narrows in on her target, the arsonist begins to target her.

Ann Ashburn has had a complicated life with a father she could never please and a mother she lost respect for and a brother who just doesn't understand. She took a job with the fire department following in her father and her brother's footsteps. Not that her brother ever wanted her to. One bad decision at fire scene changes her life drastically and she has to reinvent herself. Danny McGuire is one of the best fire fighter's around and the same fire that changes on Ann changes him as well but in a different way.  This story starts out fast. It becomes a nail biter right from the beginning and i found myself chanting  NO WAY, NO WAY!  I think the author keeps you on your toes through out the story. Whose the bad guy? At the end of the book you find if you were paying attention at the beginning it was right there. The one problem i had was that at times the author used sentences that were a bit complicated to follow and took me out of the story. Overall though it was a great start to the series. Ann and Danny have to fight their own demons and figure out their relationship all while trying to figure out whose trying to kill Ann. I'm excited to see where J.R. Ward goes next with this series.

JB Lynn works her usual magic and you get a entertaining and sometimes nail biting story with twists and turns galore.  You get sucked and then suddenly it's over and your hungering for more.  You could read this as a stand alone but for the most enjoyment you might want to start with book one. eARC Book review: Not Quite Over You (Happily Inc. #4) by Susan Mallery

Silver Tesdal has a head for business and a mouth made for kissing, and banker Drew Lovato has his eye on both. But ever since he was dumb enough to let her go, she’s kept him at a distance. When the bank turns her down for a loan, Drew sees a double opportunity—he can finance her brilliant, unique idea to rock Happily Inc’s wedding industry and win back her trust.

Despite her reputation, Silver’s not as tough as she seems. Losing Drew nearly destroyed her. Still, his kisses are as tempting as his offer to invest in her business. If she can’t quite get over him, maybe she should get under him and knock him out of her system once and for all.

But her best laid plans begin to unravel as Silver finds herself falling even harder than when they were high school sweethearts. Which means that she’ll have to come clean about the secret she’s been hiding from him for years—and risk losing him forever.

Silver and Drew were once a item. Silver let Drew go when she thought she needed to. She's moved on or so she thought. Now Drew is back in town working at his families bank and he wants to get to know Silver again. I just didn't feel the chemistry on this one. They didn't seem to click as a couple. I'm not sure why. There wasn't really much conflict either. If they spent more time talking to each other instead of in their heads the story would have ended sooner. It was a OK read but not a favorite for me of the series.
