Years ago it was far easier for Jack Hunter to keep his hands off his best friend’s little sister. Before they’d signed up and done a couple tours of duty, Pepper Wilson had been nothing more than an annoying tag-along brat. Only now that he’s back for good and working to make DreamMakers a success, Pepper’s home from college and determined to push his every button.
The 2nd installment of Dream Makers series by Vivian Arend picks up with Jack Hunter. Jack is a partner in Dream Makers Inc. A company that helps guys plan fun exciting dates who can't figure it out for themselves among other things. Jack a ex-soldier along with a few other ex-soldiers run the company. Pepper Wilson is the younger sister of one of those ex-soldiers. She was always tagging along behind her brother but now fresh from college she's all grown up. When Pepper shows up covered in bruising and a black eye Jack sees red! Taking her home with him he starts to realize she's not a little girl anymore. Love this book for many reasons. Seeing Jack and Pepper figure their way around each other was interesting and fun. Pepper is still trying to prove she's an adult and responsible and Jack is struggling with the fact that he's more than just a little attracted to her. Spark fly of course! It's not a simple romance by any means and when weird stuff starts happening to Pepper she's not sure what's going on but Jack's there to help. Fun sexy romance with a little bit of evil person and a jilted ex thrown in to make it even more interesting. You want to read this one for entertainment value alone!

ARC book review: Fast Track (Buchanan-Renard #12) by Julie Garwood
Available July 29th
ARC ebook provided by publisher through Netgalley
Cordelia Kane has always been a daddy’s girl—her father raised her alone after her mother died in a car crash when Cordelia was just two years old. So when he has a serious heart attack, Cordelia is devastated, and the emotion is only intensified by the confusion she feels when he reveals the shocking truth about her mother.
Cordelia can’t suppress her curiosity about the woman who gave birth to her, and when she discovers the answers to her questions lie in Sydney, Australia, she travels there to get them.
Hotel magnate Aiden Madison is Cordelia’s best friend’s older brother. He’s oblivious to the fact that she’s had a crush on him for years. When he gets railroaded into taking her along to Sydney on his company jet, he unknowingly puts her life at risk. He’s recently angered a powerful congressman by refusing to purchase overvalued land. Congressman Chambers is not a man to let such an offense slide, and he has the resources to get even and to get what he wants.
In Australia sparks are flying between Cordelia and Aiden, but multiple attempts on Aiden’s life are made while Cordelia is with him, and he realizes he must put a stop to the madness before he loses the thing he values most.
Ok if you are a Julie Garwood fan and have read this series you must know that this is the book fans have been waiting for for a long time. We knew Cordie had a thing for Aiden in previous books but he was oblivious. There's a bit of a age gap there and there's the sister's friend thing going on. In reading the prologue of the book you relive the story of the way Cordie met Aiden. She was 5 and he was 17 and she was a smart cookie even then. In the first chapters i got a little teary eyed with the events that leave Cordie on her own and whirling in grief and questioning her life. Aiden steps in as always to help, but is surprised to find himself attracted to Cordie. After discovering the mother she thought was dead is really alive and had abandoned Cordie and her dad she takes off to Australia with Aiden to get a look at her. This is where it really takes off. Meeting her mother brings on more trouble than Cordie anticipates. Julie Garwood really pulls you in to many of her well known characters from previous books . Most of which get plenty of page time. Finally! Finally we get to meet Walker. Not sure what i think of him but i was glad she brought him in to the story. As much as we have seen of Cordie she really gets to shine in her story and she shows how tough a woman she really is. She would have to be to go toe to toe with Aiden. As controlled and protective as Aiden is we get to see he sexy sweet and adoring side too. Loved seeing this story develop and for me it fell neatly into line with the previous books in the series and i enjoyed it immensely. Now i just have to wonder who is anyone is next??? I know i have a few ideas. How about you?

Hot SEALs Series, Book 1
Ten years of dedication to the Navy taught SEAL Jon Rudnick one thing—he’s not afraid to risk life and limb for his country. But when navigating military red tape begins to present more challenges than the enemy it makes Jon question his future. So does Alison Cressly, the woman he can’t get out of his head.
When Ali’s life is threatened and military rules won’t allow him to intervene, Jon decides it’s time to take back control.
A team of sexy SEALs, a terrorist threat, and an attraction that can’t be denied . . .
This is the first book in a new series by author Cat Johnson. Jon Rudnick has been a Navy guy for 10 years. A Navy seal to be precise. It took a lot of work to get where he is and his body has paid the price for it. Home on a break a couple of his buddies, former Navy seals have a get together where he meets Alison Cressly. Even though they know it was a set up by one of Jon's buddies sister he still feels a instant attraction. If Alison's reaction is anything to go by she feels it too. After giving Ali a ride home their attractions sizzles into a quick fast sexual encounter that leaves both wanting more. Jon can't subject a woman to the kind of uncertain life he lives so he walks away. When Ali's life is threatened and all his Navy Seal training means nothing when he's not allowed to get involved he questions why he kept Ali at arms length and what being a seal means to him. I liked this book because i felt i could fit in with this group of people. The details of the military situations felt real. I felt the connection between John and Ali but could understand also why Jon held back. You can't spend years in the military and not know that your life is not always your own. Spouse's and significant other's have to deal with that on a daily basis. In the end Jon made the decision that was right for him. To that end a new venture is formed which i am guessing will play into future books in this series. Night with a Seal is a nice base to hopefully a great series. Can't wait to see where Cat Johnson takes us!

Let's roll…
Natalie Oman's husband murdered his brother before committing suicide, leaving her a widow and struggling for her share of Meghoni Mine. She spends her time avoiding her remaining brother in law and his irrational agenda that someone else murdered both Oman brothers. Finally free from the threats and loneliness that came from her marriage, she's determined to find a place to teach her self-defense classes and move on with her life. The last thing she expects is a sexy biker to validate her dreams and work his way into her heart.
As the Vice President and the oldest member of the Bantorus MC, Federal Charter, Remmy Hollis lives life hard, wild, and free. Summertime means territory wars, beautiful women, trips back to Pitnam, and chaos. Until one rational decision changes the course of Remmy's life. The dangerous web of cover-ups surrounding Los Li—the Mexican mafia, puts a target on Natalie's back. Remmy will bury the secrets and take out anyone who tries to hurt the woman warming his back, even though Natalie's the one lady who deserves to know the truth.
—Each Bantorus MC book features a new couple with their own happily ever after—
This book picks up almost a year after Fighting to Ride book 5 in this series. Natalie Oman's husband was one of two brothers murdered by Los Li, the Mexican mafia. The three Oman brothers own Meghoni Mine. The mine is what sustains the town with jobs. To the public it looks like Natalie's husband killed one of his other brothers then killed himself. Natalie has knowledge no one else does about her husband and thinks that there was a good possibility that's what happened. The remaining Oman brother says no way and wants Natalie to help open a new investigation into the two other Oman brother's deaths. He can't believe it was murder/suicide. Remmy Hollis is the oldest of the Bantourus guys in Federal MC. He's always gone his own way and enjoyed being single. Remmy comes to Natalie's rescue when he sees a man harassing her in a parking lot. He puts her on his bike and for guys in the MC that place is reserved for a woman for one of two reasons. Either she's in trouble or she's his wife. Natalie certainly qualifies for the first one. As Remmy finds out more about Natalie and her situation he feels guilt and he is attracted more and more to her. He knows that Los Li is responsible for her husband's death but no one can know that. It has to remain a secret because if it doesn't Los Li will definitely be back. Unfortunately Natalie's brother in law won't let it go. This is just one more exciting chapter into Debra Kayn's Bantourus MC series. The series keeps expanding to include a new generation and they are proving to be just as good as the original crew which luckily still pops up in these newer books. Remmy has to struggle with what's right and wrong and with his heart. He never thought he's find someone to love but even though he and Natalie seem like opposites they still seem to fit together quite nicely. Natalie has no idea how a Motorcycle club works but for Remmy she's willing to learn. It's fun to watch the two interact and deal with their attraction and the real danger Los Li presents. The secondary characters take turns stepping into the spotlight as well and give you a glimpse into future situations. Another great addition to the Bantourus MC series.

ARC Book review: Should've Been Home Yesterday (Country Roads #3) by Inez Kelley
Available July 21st
ARC ebook provided by publisher through Netgalley
Book three of Country Roads
Thirteen years ago, Webb Hawkins and Clay McCreedy were best friends, more like brothers than business partners. Determined to push Hawkins Hardwood into the future, their lives were intertwined on every level. Until Webb came home and realized little Molly McCreedy had grown up.
Stay away from my baby sister. It was the one thing Clay had asked of Webb, but it was a promise Webb couldn't keep, and his actions did more than ruin their friendship—it changed everything. Now Clay is dead, Molly is pregnant after a night of memories and alcohol, and a guilt-ridden Webb needs to put things right.
As what begins as a marriage in name only slowly grows to include the love Webb and Molly have always kept carefully buried, a series of fires erupts across Black Cherry Canyon. And an infamous eco-terrorist sets his sights on Molly—the ultimate pawn in his vendetta against Hawkins Hardwood. To save one, Webb may have to let the other go…
This is the conclusion of the Country Roads trilogy. I've been lucky enough to read and review all three of these and was anxious to see what Inez Kelley would do with Webb. Webb has some serious demons haunting him. He blames himself for his best friend Clay's death. Years ago after Clay found Webb with his little sister Molly he stalks off mad before Webb could explain. That evening started a chain of events that ended with Clay dead and Webb with not only serious physical injuries but emotional ones as well. He's been beating himself up and working at a ragged pace to try and make amends for what he feels his actions caused. Now after a night of too much drinking and poor judgment Molly is pregnant. Webb asks her to marry him. It's only right he thinks. He will take care of her but eventually she will leave. Poor Webb. He's so mixed up and guilt ridden he can't let the past go and see what he has right in front of him. His actions not only ruin his chances at happiness, which of course he thinks he doesn't deserve but also ruins Molly's happiness and eventually that same path could ruin his potential child's happiness. Follow that? It takes a crazy man who is out to make Webb pay to finally see what he can have and deserves when he takes Molly hostage. Inez Kelley really pulls out all the stops in this final book. This story has contemporary romance elements mixed with romantic suspense and both are delivered in vivid color. I was rooting for Webb to finally forgive himself for something that was nothing more than a accident before he lost the precious future he could have if he wanted.

ARC Book review: Ricochet (Renegades #3) by Skye Jordan
Available July 14th
ARC ebook Provided by publisher through Netgalley
After a tragic incident in Afghanistan leaves Master Sergeant Nathan Ryker the only man standing in his tight-knit team, he spirals into an alcohol-and-sex induced escape. A call from his lifelong buddy pulls Ryker from the shadows with a request for help with his stunt company’s latest blockbuster. If Ryker can survive the next three weeks of leave and get back to his remaining men, he might just be all right. But a sexy woman who can take his mind off his trauma is too hard to resist, and when he hooks up with Renegades’ sultry, snarky office manager, his sanity takes a backseat to the first glimpse of a future he isn’t sure he deserves.
Still reeling from a bitter romantic betrayal, Rachel Hart wants nothing more than an uncomplicated hookup. So when the mysterious Nathan seduces her with a little dirty talk and one delicious kiss, Rachel drowns all her good sense in a Mandarin and soda and gives herself over to a night of sexual bliss. But her memories tarnish in the morning light when Rachel discovers his real identity and his link to Renegades. Her job and her friends are the only thing holding her life together, and she won’t be ruined by one sultry night with this damaged and dangerously sexy man.
While this is book three in this series i feel this book can be read as a stand alone as i have not read the first two books and did not feel lost out in left field. Nathan Ryker is a man that has seen a lot of bad things in his life. Starting with a crappy childhood and then later in his military career. His one constant is his best friend Troy who is also a part of the Renegades stunt company. After losing all but one of his team members in Afghanistan he's sent home on leave for several weeks til he gets his head on straight. Troy asks him to use his EOD experience to blow up a bridge for a stunt. Rachel Hart is the Renegades office manager. She's kind of a jack of all trades for the guys and a little sister to them as well. When she's tasked to pick up Ryker from the airport a mix up causes her to think she missed him there but when she wanders into the bar at the airport she meets a sexy hot man and decides to to embrace her wild side (something she has never done)and take him to the hotel she was supposed to take Ryker to. Thing is she doesn't know it, but she just picked Ryker up. After a night of hot passionate sexcapades Rachel takes off and Ryker ( Nathan) regrets not being up front with her but figures he won't see her. So wrong! When he arrives at the Renegades on site office he runs straight into Rachel. Sparks fly between the two as they try to keep it a secret from the rest of the guys and try to keep away from each other. It seems like an impossible task even with all the things thrown at them from demands of the job to a rival for Rachel's affections. Adding to that is Rachel's recent relationship issues with her former fiance and Nathan's PTSD that he is in denial of having. Skye Jordan tears up the pages with her steamy hot love scenes and brings on the tears with her recounting of everything Nathan has been through in his life especially his military time. You just want to reach out and hug Nathan when he relives the last event with his team in Afghanistan. It's a solid reminder of what our troops have to deal with after serving in a war arena. An amazing mix of love, laughter and even stark terror at times, Skye Jordan takes you through it all and gives us a exciting and thought provoking story.

Skye Jordan Blog Tour! (Excerpt 7) Celebrate the release of Ricochet Book 3 in Renegades series!
About RICOCHET:
After a tragic incident in Afghanistan leaves Master Sergeant
Nathan Ryker the only man standing in his tight-knit team, he spirals into an
alcohol-and-sex induced escape. A call from his lifelong buddy pulls Ryker from
the shadows with a request for help with his stunt company’s latest
blockbuster. If Ryker can survive the next three weeks of leave and get back to
his remaining men, he might just be all right. But a sexy woman who can take
his mind off his trauma is too hard to resist, and when he hooks up with
Renegades’ sultry, snarky office manager, his sanity takes a backseat to his
first glimpse of a future he isn’t sure he deserves.
The
rustle of fabric sounded behind Rachel, then Nathan released her waist and
tugged her dress up and over her head. His hands slid down her arms, his
fingers closing around her biceps, and drew her upright. The cool air made her
skin prickle, and she looked back at Nathan, but her hair fell across her face
and fluttered in her quick breaths.
“God
damn,” Nathan murmured, “you are gorgeous.”
She
blew enough hair out of her face to see him, surprised…confused…that he hadn’t
undressed, only lowered his pants on his hips enough to free himself. And…yum…his
cock was rigid and thick.
She
started to turn for him. “Let me—”
“Later.”
He pulled her arms behind her until her shoulder blades pinched and her back
arched, then clasped her elbows in one big hand. “Kneel on the ottoman.”
She
lifted one knee to the padded surface in front of her, but apprehension stung
her ribs. “Nathan?”
“Don’t
worry.” The low, rough voice didn’t match his words. “This is going to be so
good.”
She
wore only her bra, which—out of the throes of passion—felt odd with Nathan fully dressed and in control. The
situation both frightened and thrilled. But this was what she’d been wanting—a
new direction. And this was definitely different. She could do this. She already
liked it. She just had to allow herself that freedom.
Rachel
lifted her other knee to the ottoman. She was out of breath, dizzy, and her
pussy felt heavy, still pulsing with random shards of ecstasy.
Nathan
pushed her thighs together with his free hand. Frustrated, she glanced over her
shoulder again. “I need you inside me.”
He
grinned, sexy and maybe slightly condescending. “Oh, you’ll get me.”
The
rip of paper sounded behind her, then he said, “Sorry, this is going to be
cold, but worth it.”
And
his hand stroked between her legs. Rachel started, her legs clamping tighter in
automatic reaction, but Nathan continued to spread something smooth and slick
and cool and utterly decadent over her pussy. She was already moaning at the
feel of it when he pushed the liquid up inside her.
She
closed her eyes and dropped her head back. “Oh God…”
The
feeling was almost indescribably delicious. Smooth. Slick. Gliding over her
skin, making his touch sinfully erotic.
“Gets
better.” His hand disappeared, replaced by the head of his cock, thick and
round and silky smooth. “Right now.”
He
pushed up and in, gliding past her opening with a slick, super-snug fit. Her
body parted. Her walls stretched. With the lube he’d used to prep her, the sensation
was mind-bendingly off the charts, and Rachel cried a surprised sound of
pleasure. She opened her legs to allow him deeper, but Nathan’s hand clamped
down on her thigh and pressed it closed again.
“Hold
’em together,” he murmured in her ear, his voice taut. “More friction.”
The
orders made Rachel shiver. He thrilled her in the strangest way. But he also
unnerved her a little, and she felt the need to show him her mind and her will
were still intact. She glanced over her shoulder and leaned back, loving the
feel of his cotton-covered chest. She lifted her chin and
bit gently at his jawline, then murmured, “Then fuck me already.”
His
grin came fast. “Yes, ma’am.”
About Skye:
Skye Jordan is a pseudonym for New York Times bestselling
romantic suspense author Joan Swan.
Skye's novels are about enjoying that little wild streak we
don’t let out often enough. About those fantasies we rarely get the opportunity
to indulge. About stretching limits, checking out the dark side, and maybe even
acting a little naughty. They’re about escape and fun and pleasure and romance.
And, yes, even love, because while wicked-great sex is good,
happily ever after with wicked-great
sex is even better.
Skye (aka Joan) lives on the central coast of California in the
heart of wine country with her husband and two daughters. As often as possible,
she retreats to a hotel with critique partners for a power-writing week where
much drinking, laughing, and yes, even working, ensues. When she’s not writing,
Skye goes to breakfast with her hubby, attends her daughters’ barrel races, and
spends a lot of time with her own horse, Riddle…while her two dogs, Paxton and
Indie, tag along. She also loves to read, knit, craft, row, ride, and dabble in
photography.

ARC Book review: Up In Flames: Body Heat\Caught in the Act by Lori Foster
ARC ebook from publisher through Netgalley
This is a reissue of two previously released book.
Available now!
Body Heat
The last person Melanie Tucker wants to find herself trapped with on a party boat is her nemesis, Adam Stone. As always, he's too smooth…and a bit too sexy for comfort. But when they both fall overboard—and wind up stranded together—Melanie just can't resist all the delicious body heat smoldering between them….
Caught in the Act
When a robbery goes bad, undercover cop Mick Dawson can't believe Delilah Piper (aka mystery writer Lela DeBraye) was just in the wrong place at the wrong time—and neither do the perps. The only way to protect her while he investigates what really happened is to stick with her 24/7—and try not to fall for the object of his investigation!
In reading this i am pretty sure i have read Caught in the Act before. Felt familiar to me. It's so much fun sometimes when publisher's reissue older books. You get a peek at earlier works of your favorite author sometimes and maybe enjoy a story you read before and enjoyed or one you missed and get to read as new to you. One of the best part of two stories in one book is you know you have at least one spot you can put the book down if you have to get some sleep for work the next day. Both of these are great reads. Body Heat is when two old classmates from different backgrounds end up falling off a boat and land themselves on a deserted island. Forced to be together they have to work out their past differences and find out what each really felt for the other back then. Question is what's between them now? In Caught in the Act Mick Dawnson's just might have a fatal attraction to Delilah Piper. Saving her from being shot in a jewelry store bank robbery it's his lucky break to finally talk to her and well save her of course. While trying to get to know her and figure out who is still out to get her Mick thinks he might have found the right woman for him. Then things go to crap when evidence starts to point to her as part of the robbers group. Reacting without thinking might just lose Mick his woman. Plenty of intense stuff in both stories that you can read and enjoy in a afternoon or two. Which is exactly what happened to me.

Two rules, that's all Graham has—never apologize and never fall in love. He knows Carly is everything he should avoid. Cheerful and sweet, she has "relationship" written all over her. But Graham can't stay away from her probing questions and concerned blue eyes.
When Graham discovers Carly is hiding a crushing secret, he's prepared to risk it all. Until in one single moment, everything changes and Graham's past threatens to collide with his future. His life is crumbling down around him, and soon no apology in the world can save him.
He should've known to walk away.
I believe this is Sybil Bartel's debut book. If she was looking to come out with a bang she has accomplished it with this book. In reading the blurb i knew that Graham had something bad happen to him that involved a woman. I also knew that something bad also happened to Carly so i was expecting some angst, some denial and some pain for both characters. What i got was a lot more than i bargained for. Pretty much all the characters in this book are damaged emotionally in some way. I liked Graham at first but as i got to know him it became harder to like him. He is very destructive with himself as well as those around him and couldn't seem to appreciate anything good that came into his life. When he meets Carly she becomes a bright ray of sunshine in his life but it doesn't take long for him to figure out something is off with her. Carly has her own secret tragedy she has struggled with, but she does have a great supportive family if she needs them. Both Graham and Carly had decided they weren't meant to love and to get married but the more and more time they spend together it seems like maybe it's possible. Every time it seems they are making headway in that direction something happens to knock it all down. Through the whole story we're told that Graham's mother is coming to see him and he doesn't want to see her. He hates her. When she finally shows up and passes out drunk and high and he takes her back to her hotel he gets the surprise of his life which seems to kickstart him finally in the right direction to possible happiness. This book pissed me off at times. I thought i might have to quit reading it but i kept hoping there would be something coming to make it worth while to keep reading. A friend who also read it encouraged me to keep with it, that it was worth it. It seems she was right. It is a very intense emotion driven book with a lot of heart in the end.

ARC ebook provided by author through publisher.
His goal is to stand firm
As the middle child in a big family, Len Thompson has found it easy to slip under the radar. His relationships outside the family-run garage tend to run a mile wide but only an inch deep as he keeps his heart, body and soul protected. But when the one woman he’s always wanted makes it known she’ll soon be leaving town, he can’t resist letting her into his carefully constructed fortress.
Her gift is rocking his world
Chasing her best friend’s big brother has both entertained and frustrated Janey for years. She’s not sure what triggered his change of heart, but hell, yeah, she’ll accept it. All of it. Every kiss, every touch, every bit of body-shaking pleasure. Working to meet her renovation deadline is suddenly not nearly as interesting as the mind-blowing escapades she’s enjoying with the big sexy mechanic.
When old fears threaten, Len must finally choose—face his past or let their future crumble.
Len Thompson is the quiet one in the family. He doesn't say alot but when he does it means something. For years he's been watching out for his sister's best friend Janey. He's always kept her at arms length until he finds out she's leaving town. Suddenly he just can't let her get away without taking his chance with her. Janey is the black sheep for her family. She's a carpenter and is renovating her old family home to sell and then moving away to a town where she can have a better chance at making money with her new business. She's been chasing after Len for years and when he suddenly wants to chase her she's not sure what he's up to. Once Len gives in though it's crazy hot sexy times and enjoying each other in and out of the bedroom. As Janey's deadline looms they are both finding themselves wishing things didn't have to end. Then a encounter with Len's dad brings him back to the reason he's held off all these years and instead of risking his heart he decides he needs to let Janey go. OMG these two are off the charts HOT together. This is a fast sexy read. The banter between these two is sizzling and it's great to see them find each other. Len has to really do some groveling though to get her back and be bold. Something he's not used to doing. Can't wait to see what's up with the rest of the Thompson siblings!
