Blog tour/Giveaway eARC Book review: Forbidden Fling (Wildwood #1) by Skye Jordan

25708556

Available July 26th 2016
eARC Provided by publisher through Netgalley

Delaney Hart has come a long way from her wild youth, dating tattooed bikers at her father’s bar, The Bad Seed. But when his death pulls her back to Wildwood, California, she must stay to renovate the dive he left her. And also face the lies and secrets that sent her running ten years before.

When Wildwood’s chief building inspector, Ethan Hayes, shows up on the property, Delaney doesn’t recognize him. The last thing he wants to do is save the bar where his cousin died in a brawl. But the good boy from her past is all too willing to remind her of the bad girl she used to be. And one night of passion leaves them both in a compromising position.

The last place Ethan should be is in Delaney’s bed. Guilt, family pressure, and plans for a brewpub of his own make shutting down The Bad Seed his top priority…until his feelings for Delaney interfere. Because her future depends on the success of the bar’s renovation and his dreams are rooted in its failure, their forbidden romance may be destined for heartbreak.

A new series by author Skye Jordan. Forbidden Fling is really about a forbidden fling. Delaney and Ethan should be enemies in the eyes of some folk in town. A tragic event that happened years ago has trapped them both in it when it was neither of their faults. Family being family though they are made to feel like it was. Delaney's family owned a seedy little bar in town while she was growing up. Things happened there were not always good and one night Ethan's cousin was killed there. The cousin was a wild guy who did what he wanted and Ethan was supposed to keep him out of trouble. He should have never been asked to do that as it was an impossible task to control others. Ethan has been waiting to get the liquor liscense on that bar for years now and time was running out until Delaney shows up. There is some sizzling chemistry between the two but also tons of lies and half truths. The sex scenes are to die for hot but the whole blaming of Delaney and Ethan mostly by Ethan's family got old after a while. I'm all over the place on how i felt about this book. I'm kind of waiting to see what happens with Delaney's sisters once they come back to the family fold. I kept waiting for Ethan to get a back bone and realize he had nothing to feel guilty about. I guess he did but not soon enough for me. A good beginning to the series but i am hoping for more in the next installment.

eARC Book review: Barefoot at Moonrise (Barefoot Bay Timeless #2) by Roxanne St. Claire

30170259

Available August 1, 2016
eARC Provided by author

As a firefighter, Captain Ken Cavanaugh knows his way around dangerous situations—but he'd rather run into a burning building than help plan his 25th high school reunion in Barefoot Bay. Unfortunately, it's his best chance of finally putting things right with Beth Endicott two and a half decades after they ended so badly. But the instant they see each other again, the years blow away like ashes in the heat of their combustible chemistry. For one single night, they let their incendiary passion consume them...but in the morning, they're still left with the smoldering wreckage of a relationship that ended in tragedy.

Raised under the thumb of a rich and controlling man, Beth has spent her adult years craving freedom. Now that she's finally managed to carve out an independent life, is she ready to risk her heart on the first man she ever loved—a man who blames her family for his father's death? With so much painful history between them, Beth can't see a way to have a future with Ken. But one stunning surprise will turn everything they ever believed upside down and send them straight into each other's arms.

Ok this is the second Barefoot Bay Timeless series. We met the three guys in this series in book one and Mark Solomon found his love then and now it's Ken Cavanaugh's. He isn't going to get such a easy time of it. He's been nursing a nasty hate for a man he feels responsible for his dad's death 25 years ago. Beth Endicott was the one who got away from him all those years ago. She's spent much of that time fighting to make herself self reliant. She can do it all if she has to and more often that not she has had to. sometimes because of her father seemingly trying to control her.  At the tail end of the class reunion Beth and Ken finally get together. Beth thinks one time with Ken won't hurt and then that will be it. Repercussions from that one night change that and the fact that her dad is the man Ken blames for his dad's death makes for some interesting problems. I liked both characters on their own but was frustrated by the secrets and Beth never seeming to trust Ken when he was as up front as they come. I love how solid Ken is. The man has his demons to fight in this book but he is there for Beth. He might have to regroup a time or two but he is the positive person of the two of them. This was a solid book for me but not my favorite of the two so far. Sometimes here and there it felt a little ho hum. I don't know i guess i am more of a Mark Soloman fan from book one. One thing i really  have been enjoy is the character's being older and in this case my age. As i get older the characters in most books seem to be 20's and 30's so it's nice to be able to relate to someone who has been around as long as me. Roxanne St. Claire has done a excellent job writing these characters and showing the book world that there is life after 40. Looking forward to the last book in this trilogy series.

eARC Book review: Waking Up With a Billionaire (The Overnight Billionaires #3) by Katie Lane

27416519

Available July 26th 2016
eARC Provided by publisher through Netgalley

He can have anything he wants...except her

Famed artist Grayson Beaumont is the most elusive of the billionaire Beaumont brothers. He has a reputation for seducing any woman with only a look, word, or sensual stroke of his brush. But now Grayson has lost all his desire to paint . . . unless he can find a muse to unlock his creative-and erotic-imagination.

Chloe knew she might have to shed her clothes when she agreed to pose for the celebrated artist, but she wasn't expecting to shed all her inhibitions as well. Under his intense scrutiny, there's nothing she can hide...including a secret from her past that, once exposed, will change how he looks at her forever.

Unfortunately this is the last book in this series. Fortunately the book can be read as a stand alone. Grayson is the last of the Beaumont brothers to find love. He's got his hands full with running the company for his brothers while they are occupied with new events in their lives. At the same time he's struggling with some person things of his own and he is NOT one to be in charge but he's going to do his best. Chloe seems a bit abrasive to most people especially Grayson. She's not at all what she seems though. She has some major secrets and Grayson is determined to find out what they are. I really enjoyed this one. It did make me wish i could have read the first two books first only because of the glimpses you get of the other two brothers and their wives. Grayson is a really great guy with a big heart but a little lost and Chloe is a tough as nails chick with some serious pain in her heart. I enjoyed watching them help each other get through and become stronger.  Katie Lane delivers a wonderful and sexy read!

eARC Book review: Close to You (Fusion #2) by Kristen Proby

27213236

Available August 9th 2016

Camilla, “Cami,” LaRue was five years old when she first fell in love with Landon Palazzo. Everyone told her the puppy love would fade—they clearly never met Landon. When he left after graduation without a backward glance, she was heartbroken. But Cami grew up, moved on, and became part-owner of wildly popular restaurant Seduction. She has everything she could want...or so she thinks.

After spending the last 12 years as a Navy fighter pilot, Landon returns to Portland to take over the family construction business. When he catches a glimpse of little Cami LaRue, he realizes she’s not so little any more. He always had a soft spot for his little sister’s best friend, but nothing is soft now when he’s around the gorgeous restauranteur.

Landon isn’t going to pass up the chance to make the girl-next-door his. She’s never been one for romance, but he’s just the one to change her mind. Will seduction be just the name of her restaurant or will Cami let him get close enough to fulfill all her fantasies?

This is my first Kristen Proby book. I had heard of her and it was all good things but never had a chance to read her. The cover grabbed my eye first and then the blurb. Bummed i didn't catch the first book in the series but really hoped that that would not be a problem. It wasn't! Landon is recently discharged from the navy after 12 years of service as a fighter pilot. This is not by choice. He was hurt in a accident. He's not happy about it but he's adjusting and learning to live in the civilian world again. Cami is his sisters best friend. She's been in love with Landon since she was 5 and everyone knew it since she didn't keep it a secret. Now as an adult her heart still beats fast when he's around but she's keeping the love to herself. That is until Landon notices she is all grown up now. This is a sweet and delicious read. There is some drama but nothing to crazy. Some trust issues to work out and feelings to figure out. I love Cami and her friends and Landon is to die for awesome. Everything you want in a hero. I'm thinking i need to go back and read book one and be ready for book three! A solid read from beginning to end!

eARC Book review: Rock Wedding (Rock Kiss #4) by Nalini Singh

28937797

Available July 19th 2016

eARC provided by publisher through Netgalley

After a lifetime of longing for a real family, Sarah Smith thought she’d finally found her home with rock star Abe Bellamy, even if she knew Abe didn’t love her the way she loved him. But their brief relationship, filled with tragedy and heartache, nearly destroyed her. Alone, emotions in turmoil, and already shaky self-esteem shattered, Sarah struggles to pick up the pieces in the wake of their divorce.

Abe knows he’s to blame for the end of his marriage. Caught in a web of painful memories, he pushed away the best thing in his life – the sexy, smart woman he adores – breaking them both in the process. Then fate throws him a second chance to get things right, to prove to Sarah that she means everything to him. Abe desperately wants that second chance at love...even if he knows he doesn’t deserve it.

But can he convince Sarah – now strong and independent without him – to risk her wounded heart one more time?

This was more of an emotional story than the previous books. It's a second chance story with an enormously painful beginning. Abe is the last guy in the band to find love. Rather he found it first but then through it all away. Drugs and drinking poison his mind and heart and he tosses the wife who loved him with her whole heart. Finally he hit rock bottom and figures out what he's done.
Nalini Singh does an amazing job with this story. Abe will rip your heart out with the way he treats his wife Sarah while married to her and the way he hurts her with his words and actions. After finally getting treatment and fighting his way out of drugs and alcohol he goes to find his now ex-wife. Not only did he damage her when he was with her the man she thought was her savior after Abe does the same. She's a broken women and Abe has his work cut out for him to win her back. She has serious trust issues and with good reason. I was rooting for both of them as the story unfolded. Abe to be able to find his way in and treat Sarah the way she deserved and for Sarah to find her strength to let him in and feel safe for once. The story breaks your heart and then mends in by the end. Little more intense or so it seemed to me than previous books but an amazing read all the same.

This last year of Joss Richards’ life has changed for the better—or so she thinks. A new band, a new city, a new life, and, now, a shot at a contract with the hottest rock label around, ICE Records. If she and her bandmates can impress the label, her life will be set. Too bad her best friend thinks something is missing. When August Bragg glimpses a red-haired goddess in the hotel lobby, he can’t get out of his thoughts—or his fantasies. Unable to resist her lure, he indulges in a steamy encounter. Then learns her name, and he realizes his fantasies have left his heart in an ethical dilemma.

Will they give everything up for their careers, or can the man who holds Joss’ future in his hands also convince her to give him her heart?

A quick little read, it gets moving at fast pace. Joss is in Vegas for what will hopefully be a huge change in her life. Her band is competing in a competition in which the prize is a recording contract. Her band mates have decided her love life needs a kick in the pants so they have also set her up with a date with One Night Stand. A dating service that is supposed to have a great success rate. If you don't mind insta love and enjoy romance fiction where things happen quickly in a relationship you will enjoy this one. I don't mind it.I enjoyed the ladies in the band and August and his friend. I would LOVE to see book made longer. It screams for it. The sex is hot the characters interesting and complicated. There is conflict in the story and but resolved quickly. I enjoyed it and hope to see more.

Things take a turn when Sam decides to change up the game. This may be a shorter read but the sexy is front and center. Loved the characters. eARC book review: Trouble Walks In (The McGuire Brothers #2) by Sara Humphreys

27848119

Available August 2 2016
eARC Provided by publisher through Netgalley

Big city K-9 cop Ronan McGuire loves women, loves his dog, loves his job - but when old flame Maddy Morgan moves into his jurisdiction, he can’t think about anyone else.
Ronan knows she’s way out of his league, but he’s determined to help Maddy live life to the fullest.

Maddy has immersed herself in work and swiftly made a name for herself in the hot New York City real estate market. She’s looking for safety, not love, but Ronan McGuire is as persistent as he is sexy, and his crooked smile is hard to resist. But all other concerns are wiped away when Maddy goes missing and Ronan and his bloodhound K-9 partner are tasked with finding her and bringing her home.

Another cover that jumps out at you! I mean wow look at that thing? This is a new author for me and the blurb drew me right in. Ronan McGuire is a NYC K9 cop and his partner is of course a dog. Where he goes the dog goes. Maddy Morgan is someone from his hometown he used to crush on years ago in school. Now she's living in NYC after the death of her long time boyfriend a year ago. He's been looking out for her the best he can while letting her grieve. There is a killer on the loose though and he's targeting high end real estate agents and that's what Maddy does. Ronan tries to bring Maddy back from the land of the lost while hoping to win her heart and protect her. Loved this one. Ronan and his family are awesome. They bring Maddy right into the fold when they return home for Christmas and a family wedding. I enjoyed watching these two get closer while Maddy deals with her grief and guilt over moving on. Ronan is trying to navigate his first serious relationship which is full of pitfalls. There is a thread of suspense when real estate agents are turning up dead including one of Maddy's co workers. Ronan and his K9 partner Bowser are on the job though. An awesome read!

I read this as a stand alone and have not read book one and it was not a issue at all.

eARC Book review: Meat by Opal Carew

Available April 26th 2016

Novella length, contemporary erotic
eARC Provided by publisher through Netgalley

Just one taste isn't enough…

I ran into Rex Keene—literally—when I was trying to catch my flight and his muscled, tattooed arms stopped my fall.
Then our flight gets canceled, and we're stranded in the same hotel room together...it ended up being the steamiest night of my life.
All I knew is that I had to see him again.

I just didn’t expect him to show up a week later in the restaurant I manage…as our new head chef.
But the generous, tender man I spent that night with is gone; instead he’s arrogant, demanding, and terrorizing the staff.
But he won’t give up until we’re together – and I’m not sure I can stay away.
Which man is real?

Who is Rex Keene?

The cover of this book jumped out at me and that led me to the blurb. Thinking it might be interesting i decided to give it a try.  Grieving for her Aunt, Rebecca runs in to Rex at the airport on her way home. Literally runs into him. There is instant attraction between the two and when their flight is delayed they end up sharing dinner and a hotel room thanks to Rex's connections. Rex is a perfect gentleman but things still get hot and heavy after a night of amazing sex the two part way with the promise from Rex he'll call her. Unfortunately a week later when Rebecca gets back to her job running a hotel restaurant she finds out Rex is the new head chef. Oh boy! There are some secrets and someone who is lying and stealing and Rebecca is in the middle of it. I like this story but there is some cheesy lines for sure in this book. The sex scenes are hot and hint at BDSM but with only 170 pages there isn't a lot of time to get into that and tell a story. Rex's is a well endowed man and that is a little over the top i think. He can be bigger and not be a monster.  Read the book to get my meaning. Overall i enjoyed the book and the cheesy lines made me laugh so it's all good for me.
