Book review: A Perfect Storm (Book 4 in the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series) by Lori Foster

A Perfect Storm

April, 2012

He never saw her coming…

Spencer Lark already knows too many secrets about Arizona Storm, including the nightmare she survived and her resulting trust issues. But in order to expose a smuggling ring—and continue avenging his own tragic past—the bounty hunter reluctantly agrees to make Arizona a decoy. Yet nothing has equipped him for her hypnotic blend of fragility and bravery, or for the protective instincts she stirs in him.

Arizona wants to reclaim her life, which means acting as bait to lure the enemy into a trap. Sure it's dangerous, especially with a partner as distractingly appealing as Spencer. But as their plan—and their chemistry—shifts into high gear, Arizona may discover there's an even greater risk in surrendering her heart to a hero….

A Perfect Storm is the final book in the "Men that Walk the Edge of Honor" series by Lori Foster. I was soooo hoping she was going to do a book  on Spencer and Arizona after reading  "Savor the Danger" ( book 3). There was so much i felt i needed to find out about both Spencer and Arizona and their chemistry was like WOW huge!  I got my wish when she announced there would be a book 4 with Spencer and Arizona. You also get a dose of Jackson, Trace and Dare along with their wives and the sexy Chris.  You can't help but fall in the love with the characters in this series. Especially the bad ass Alpha male men! Tough and hot and caring and gentle when it counts. What's not to love? In this book Spencer is still feeling his protective tendencies for Arizona and fighting the pull to feel so much more. She is just 21 and hurt and damaged in so many ways but so damn tough and kick ass too. It's a heck of a mix and Spencer's not sure what to do with it all. Arizona is attracted to Spencer but not sure how to navigate all those feeling as her life has never been the norm for regular typical girls growing up. Spencer has to try to navigate the waters with her as he tries to help her get past all the barriers and misconceptions she has about herself. All the while though she insists that she is going to continue her vengeance on human traffickers and takes on a nasty ring of traffickers on her own. Can Spencer keep Arizona safe while healing her and helping her find her way? Must read the book to find out but it's a great journey. I feel A Perfect Storm had a great pace. The relationship between Spencer and Arizona progresses throughout the book and you just love Spencer and want to give the big lug a big hug and kiss for all he tries to do for Arizona while trying to deny he is giving her his heart too. I have to mention the cover for this book is so Spencer. Sexy as hell, broad and tall and 6'5". Love when a cover does the book justice.  I mean holy smokes look at it? Lori Foster has the best covers for this series and this one just puts icing on the cake. 5 out of 5 Modokker Book Pick stars for A Perfect Storm by Lori Foster.

Book review: Quinn ( A Wyoming Sky novel) by R.C. Ryan

Available March 1, 2012

The Truth Can Be an Irresistible Temptation . . .

As a young boy, Quinn Conway was shattered by his mother's mysterious disappearance. Today, as the oldest of the Conway brothers, his only concern is protecting his family and their ranch. One look at beautiful, strong-willed Cheyenne O'Brien tells him she's also no stranger to tragedy. A series of increasingly dangerous "accidents" are plaguing her and her land, and Quinn can't stand idly by while a woman is in danger. Fiercely independent, Cheyenne isn't one to lean on others, yet she can't deny her attraction to the rugged rancher offering help. Soon, the passion building between them proves as wild and untamed as the land she loves-and just as impossible to resist. But a relentless enemy is about to make one final devastating move. To survive, Quinn and Cheyenne must put their cherished freedom-and their hearts-at risk . . .

This is a new series by author R.C. Ryan, otherwise known as Ruth Ryan Langan. A western set in the state of Wyoming. The book opens with a prequel to intro you to the characters in the series when Mrs. Conway disappears and the boys are left without their mother and Quinn who grows up to be a wolf whisperer has his first encounter with a den of wolves. There are three Conway brothers. Quinn the oldest then Josh the expert mountain climber who rescues people and Jake the baby and newly minted veterinarian. Because of his love for wolves Quinn is a wild animal expert. Tracking a den of wolves is what leads him to Cheyenne O'Brien.  Cheyenne has her own ranch she's been running on her own since the deaths of her parents and brother. Quinn ends up staying at Cheyenne's ranch when she kills one of his wolves and he thinks it's on purpose but in fact it was going after one her cattle. Since it's blizzarding out he ends up staying and from there a relationship blooms. Unfortunately there are several incidents at Cheyenne's ranch and the jury's out who is in danger Cheyenne or Quinn.  I thought it was pretty easy to figure out who the bad buy was in this story. I knew as soon as the character was introduced and i hate that. I like to be surprised right to the end but that rarely every happens, but this was pretty obvious. The other thing that bothered me is the main characters never tell each other i love you. I was sure it was coming several times but never happened. I do like this western series with brothers or cousins though so i will definitely continue to read this series as i have a few things i am hoping to see cleared up by the end of book three. This was a good book but not as good as I have read from R.C. Ryan so i am hoping the next two are a little better. 3 out of 5 Modokker Book Pick stars for Quinn by R.C. Ryan.

Book review: Last Man Standing by Cindy Gerard

A deadly mission.

A thirst for revenge.
One headstrong alpha hero
and one daring woman will
settle the score.

Special operative Joe Green has gone vigilante. His mission, avenge his Black Ops.,Inc. brother's death during a bloody ambush years ago in Sierra Leone. He refuses to drag the BOI team or his lover, Stephanie Tompkins, into the hunt for the man responsible, so when he finds himself beaten, starving, and alone after being falsely imprisoned for the murder of a Freetown priest, he knows he's as good as dead.

Joe meant to protect Stephanie when he walked out on their relationship, but he can't stop her now from executing his escape. Breaking him out of prison is the easy part. After Joe's explosive theory pans out and his cunning enemy emerges as the front runner for a high level presidential appointment, he and Stephanie must race to derail the traitor's conspiracy if they are to save their loved ones, the nation and each other.

This is the 7th and final BOI ( Black Ops Inc) series book by author Cindy Gerard. Mean Joe Green always seems to be the most mysterious one of the group. You never really knew much about him. This book is all Joe. Bryan Tompkins was supposed to be a BOI. He is considered part of the group even though he was killed in the very first book. He is kept alive in memories by the other BOI and his parents and sister Stephanie who you see periodically through the series.  Joe's in love with Stephanie but he decides he has to break it off to keep her safe. He thinks there was more to her brother Bryan's death than just bad intel that made their op go bad all those years ago. To that end the story takes us back to Sierra Leone where it all started with book one. Kind of neat how Ms. Gerard brings us full circle. Things don't go well for Joe though and he finds himself in jail, beaten and half starved. To his surprise it's Stephanie who comes to the rescue along with a a friend Suah who Joe has befriended. Things get dicey from there. Secrets revealed and lives put at risk. This is a journey to find answers. I was really excited to read Joe and Stephanie's story but was disappointed you really don't get any of the other BOI until the epilogue. I like how she wrapped it all up with updates on all the BOI's and i hate to see the series end but when you run out of team members there isn't much else you can do. I understand there is a new series in the works from Cindy and it starts with Mike "Primetime" Brown. He and his brother Ty get a part in Joe's book plus he's been in some of the other books as a pilot. Catch a excerpt of this new book at the back of Last Man Standing  As for Last man Standing. I was glad to find out more about Stephanie who turns into a bad ass chick in this book and Joe who learns that Stephanie is way tougher than he thought. A great ending to a really great series that's full of hot sexy men and their kick ass women.  4 out of 5 Modokker book pick stars for Last Man Standing. Book review: TRATR parts 1 through 3 The Rake and the Recluse a Illustrated novel by Jenn LeBlanc

A woman out of time.

A man stifled by propriety.
A nemesis determined to take her away.
A brother to the rescue.

How will a powerful Duke deal with a woman who doesn’t know her place? How will a woman used to the 21st century survive in time where she is considered property?

Francine Larrabee woke up on the wrong side of the century. She was fairly certain she went to sleep in her own comfy bed, but she doesn’t quite seem to be there now. Only adding to her problems is that she has no voice, is constantly being glowered at by a large, stunning man who is obsessed with propriety, and she is apparently betrothed to another horrid little man, determined to ruin her, and any other girls that get in his way.

How does she find herself in the past, when she couldn’t even find herself in her present? How does a self sufficient businesswoman survive in a time when women were still considered property for the whole of their lives and what is she going to do with this man who draws her to him so fiercely.

This is kind of a new way of presenting a book. A illustrated novel. Pictures that go with the story. I wasn't sure about this because for me when covers don't match the story it kind of turns me off when it's really bad. Lucky for me though Jenn is also a photographer so all the photos in this novel are hers. I wasn't sure i would like this but I have to say once i started reading part one i loved the photos that went with it. It really enforces the story being told. Part one feels like a introduction too. You get some of the story but much of it is also explanations of things you need to know. Part two, I really started warming up to the story and really getting into it. I started to be able to connect with the characters and the secondary characters as well. By part three i was thoroughly engrossed and entrenched in the story.  Francine has no voice. It's damaged at the beginning of the story and you have to think how is that going to work? How can there be dialogue if she can't talk. They find a way. There's someone after Francine though so there is a danger element. The heat between Gideon and Francine is sizzling hot and the whole story is that much more intense with the photos that accompany it. You can't forget Perry though, Gideon's younger brother and the rake in this story. If you haven't figured it out that leaves Gideon as the Recluse. Perry might be a rake but he is always there for Gideon as Gideon is there for him as well.  As the story progesses both Gideon and Perry are changing. All from being around Francine.  You need to read the parts of this novel in order for it to make sense. Jenn LeBlanc takes you on a journey of words as a well as a journey in pictures. Together the two things make for excellent entertainment. 5 out of 5 Modokker Book Pick starts for The Rake and the Recluse parts 1 through 3. I am currently working on reading the last 3 parts and will review the second half of this illustrated novel here soon. Want to learn more? Check out Jenn LeBlanc's website . Book review: Deep Dark Secret ( Secret McQueen series book 3) by Sierra Dean

Deep Dark Secret

Secret McQueen, Book 3
Coming March 6, 2012
The only good Secret is a buried Secret.

Secret McQueen has hunted vampires, werewolves, and every conceivable supernatural menace-to-society. Seen it all? Not even close. When the queen of the were-ocelots comes to her for help finding a missing girl, the half-vampire/half-werewolf soon realizes how much she has to learn about the things that go bump in the night.

The case of the missing cat is one thing. Pile it up with her new duties as a Tribunal Leader, her tenuous position as mate to the king of the Eastern werewolves, and a slew of new (and unwelcome) supernatural abilities, and Secret is once again in familiar territory. Way over her head. But for this multitasking half-breed, it’s business as unusual.

What knocks her for a loop, though, isn’t her lover’s intoxicating kiss. It’s the missing memories rushing at her from out of nowhere, signaling a rapidly approaching fork in her destiny. Her choice will affect not only her life, but her love.

Warning: Contains a werewolf king with wandering hands, a creepy English professor with nefarious plans, and one hell of an unexpected gala evening at Columbia.

This is the 3rd book in the Secret McQueen series but there are also 2 novella that go with this series. I've read then all and everyone has sucked me right in. There is something about these books that grabs a hold of me bythe  first chapter and doesn't  let me go to the end and i swear the end always sneaks up and hits me smack in the forehead. lol  It's like what? what? That's the end? There needs to be more. There is so much going on in these books. It's not really confusing as much as action packed. Secret is juggling at least 3 men although I believe Sig, her vampire boss likes her too. All of them know about the others but it's not her biggest problem considering all the other more nastier more threatening things orbiting her universe. This book is filled with plenty of action and plenty of super hot men. Secret McQueen is probably the most bad ass chick in books. The books give you a nice chunk of her story then cuts you off and makes you wait for more. It's thrilling and frustrating at the same time. I spend the time reading and wondering what's coming next because there is no way in hell i can guess.  I'm amazed with the writing and the story pulls me through at break neck speed to the end. Just wow. 5 out of 5 Modokker Book Pick stars for Deep Dark Secret by Sierra Dean

Book review: Sweet Enemy by Debut author Heather Snow

Sweet Enemy...
February 7th 2012
Heather Snow

A Veiled Seduction Novel ~ Book One

Geoffrey Wentworth, a war hero and rising political star, never wanted to be the Earl, but when his brother dies, he knows his duty—take up the responsibility for his family’s estates. His mother’s definition of duty differs from his, however, and can be summed up in one word—heirs. When Geoffrey rushes home to answer her urgent summons, he finds himself host to a house full of women, all vying to become the next Countess of Stratford. But his love is Parliament, where he wields his influence and reputation to better the lives of ex-soldiers, until a tempting house guest and a secret from his past threaten his freedom…and his heart.

Liliana Claremont, a brilliant chemist, doesn’t want to be any man’s wife, much less a Countess. If she had tuppence for every time she’d been told her place was filling the nursery, not experimenting in the laboratory, she could buy the Tower Bridge. However, when she receives a coveted invitation to the Earl’s house party, she trades in her beakers for ball gowns and gladly takes on the guise of husband hunter—for the chance to uncover what the Earl had to do with the murder of her father.

Liliana believes the best way to get the answers she needs is to keep her enemy close, though romance is not part of her formula. But it only takes one kiss to start a reaction she can't control...

This is the debut book for author Heather Snow. I love being able to read a new authors first published book. It's kind of exciting to be able to read it when it's first coming out and maybe years later be able to say "yeah i remember her first book".  I have not read a historical romance in a while and in truth i don't read many of these that are not by Julie Garwood. One of her books was my first historical and i fell in love with them. All historicals are not the same though. I was intrigued by this one and decided it was time to try a new author's historical.  Did you follow all that? lol

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book. New author and for me anyway i love Julie Garwoods historicals i wasn't sure anything else could live up to my expectations. I love that the heroine is a chemist with a strong sense who she wanted to be and what she wanted to do. I love when woman get that respect from men in historicals. Geoffrey is kind of a hard ass in some ways but a softy beneath it all.  He is always trying to help his former fellow soldiers and he knows he needs to marry the right kind of woman who will help him get where he thinks he needs to be. Then came Liliana. She's not suitable at all. Twenty four years old and unmarried. Top it off a female chemist which is unheard of. Thing is Geoffrey a Earl and former soldier finds himself intrigued by her. She's different than any woman he's ever known. He can connect with her on a level he can't with anyone else. Liliana is on a mission though. Her father was murdered and she thinks someone in Geoffrey's family might be the one who did it. She convinces her cousin to get her aunt to help her get invited to a big party for Geoffrey to find a bride. She's sworn she'll never marry but this is the perfect way to find evidence to prove who killed her father. Unfortunately things don't go as easy as she hopes once she's there. She's expected to attend numerous activities with all the other woman there and it makes sneaking around hard. Liliana and Geoffrey keep butting heads at first but the more time goes on the more they find themselves intrigued with each other. It starts getting hard to keep that emotional distance they need.  Once everything is in the open and Geoffrey knows the real reason Liliana is there, will love exist or betrayal? Who is the real killer? I thought i knew but i was wrong. This book was a journey to find a killer that turns into a journey to find love. By the end i loved both Geoffrey and Liliana. Great first effort for Heather Snow! Look forward to more. 4 out of 5 Modokker Book Stars.

Book review: Matthew (The Circle Eight Series book 1) by Emma Lang

A man learns to hold what is his…

It is a vast spread in the eastern wilds of the newly independent Republic of Texas, the ranch their parents fought for … and died for. To the eight Graham siblings, no matter how much hard work or hard love it takes, life is unthinkable without family…

In the wake of his parents’ murder, Matthew Graham must take the reins at the Circle Eight. He also needs to find a wife in just thirty days, or risk losing it all. Plain but practical, Hannah Foley seems the perfect bride for him . . . until after the wedding night.

Their marriage may make all the sense in the world, but neither one anticipates the jealousies that will result, the treacherous danger they’re walking into, or the wildfire of attraction that will sweep over them, changing their lives forever.

This is the first historical western I have read in a long time so i was really excited to have the opportunity to read this book. I have never read a Emma Lang book before but i have seen them and have wanted to read them. Her covers always look so good that they peak my interest. Someone is definitely doing a good job there with Matthew's cover. This series starts out when the oldest Graham sibling Matthew at age 27 suddenly finds himself as a parent to 6 of his younger siblings with the baby of the family missing when his parents are murdered. In order to claim some land he finds out he needs a wife. A Wife named Hannah. Now all he has to do is find her. lol Hannah on the other hand is a only child. Her parents died when she was 7 and so it's been her and her grandmother every since.  She's had no one but her grandmother and the boarding house they run together. She has always longed for a big family, any family. She runs into Matthew's brother literally at the general store and Matthew tries to apologize to her but she runs off. That's when the store keep tell him that her name is Hannah and Matthew decides he's just met his wife! This was a really good book with a lot going on. Matthew has to learn to run things without his parents and be the boss of everything. He struggles with his feelings for Hannah and how he needs to do things. Hannah has to learn how to be a wife and a be in a big family especially when one member is quite hostile towards her. Then there is the missing Graham sibling and who killed Matthew's parents. You have your love, lust, passion and danger all rolled into this great introduction to the Circle eight series.  If your in the market for a historical western this is a great place to start. The writing is great. The dialogue has lots of funny bits that WILL make you laugh out loud and the interaction between Matthew and Hannah runs from sweet to HOT! Both Matthew and Hannah grow throughout the book. From being unsure of who they are to being take charge people. It was so much fun to watch. Hannah is so meek in the beginning and you hardly recognize her by the end. To me this was a really great love story within a much longer story that is yet to come in the books that follow this one.  I'm ready to see what happens next! 5 out of 5 Modokker Book Pick stars.

Read more about this book and check out a excerpt here
Note: Emma Lang is also known as Beth Williamson

As a bonus you can also read a excerpt to the next book in the Circle eight series "Brody" You meet him in the above book and this is Olivia Graham's book.

Book Review: Hot Secrets by Lisa Renee Jones

THE HERO: Royce Walker—the oldest Walker brother and a former FBI Negotiator. The silent type, Royce urges others to talk, having learned there are far more rewards from listening than running his mouth. When he does speak, he doesn’t hold back, his opinions made readily available. He can be abrupt and tough, overbearing even. But none of this stops women from seeing the appeal of his rock hard six-foot-three frame and long, dark hair.

Royce Walker, a former FBI Agent, who’s opened a private security firm with his brothers, has always had the hots for the prim, proper Assistant District Attorney, but considered her hand’s off because of a family connection. However, when danger threatens Lauren, he isn’t willing to stand by and watch her get hurt. Now the passion for survival is only rivaled by the passion burning between them. And that passion, might just be the death of them both.

Royce Walker is a whole lot of sexy. He has skills that make him perfect for protecting the innocent or those in danger. He gets asked to look into some threats to a senator's daughter and out of obligation agrees to see what he can find out. He finds himself with Lauren Reynolds the beautiful Assistant DA at her father the senator's birthday party.  Not long after that he already finds himself providing her with protection. Lauren is one tough chick though and it takes a lot to rattle her.  As the story progresses more and more the threats get that much more serious. Royce enlists his brothers Luke and Blake to help him try to figure out what's going on. All the while keeping the secret from Lauren that he is there for protection while in fact he is also in love with her.  This is fast paced story. Filled with action, suspense and thrills. You get to meet all 3 of the Walker brothers and let me tell you they all come across as hot and sexy and capable. Try to guess who the bad guy is. I had several thoughts to who it might be but never could nail down who was behind the threats to Lauren. This is one of those read in one sitting books that i love. 4 out of 5 Modokker Book Pick stars for Hot Secrets by Lisa Renee Jones.

Book review: Time Out by Jill Shalvis (Harlequin Blaze)

Time Out!

Class: How to Drive Him Crazy

Instructional program for women unexpectedly facing the totally dishy guy from their past. Everyone Welcome!

NHL coach Mark Diego’s plan to spend his off-season volunteering in his hometown goes awry when he learns that not only is he coaching teenage girls, but that the program is coordinated by energetic (and five feet two inches of trouble) coordinator Rainey Saunders, his childhood friend–and the woman he could never stand to see dating any other guy…

When their tempers flare, Mark and Rainey discover their fireworks don’t just burn angry–they burn very, very, hot! But that’ll just sweeten the victory. Because Mark always plays to win. And with Rainey, he’s planning on playing very dirty too…

This is 224 pages of great entertainment. I never worry when i read a Jill Shalvis book. I know that it will be interesting and  entertaining. There will most likely be a hot man and a lot of great dialogue and depending on the book hot sex scenes and some laughs. Yeah that just about describes this book " Time Out". I love reading these smaller Harlequin books that are shorter in the pages department but big on story. I didn't feel like this book was only 224 pages. I read it on my kindle so later i had to go look up the page number. Sometimes you feel shorted on details in these books but not this time. I think it's all in the author who is writing the book. Jill has a knack for making you fall in love with her characters and Mark and Rainey have so much chemistry they sizzle. They have a past. They used to be friends until one night when a young Rainey made a mistake and ruined it. Years later though Mark hasn't forgot Rainey and now he is in Rainey's world again for a while to help coach some girls in baseball and get under her skin. There's a smidge of drama and lots of laughs and some emotional stuff you just have to have in the mix. I sat and read this in one sitting and right down to the last sentence it was pretty much a perfect read for making a person feel pretty darn good.  5 out of 5 Modokker book pick stars for Time Out by Jill Shalvis.

Free ebook! Something Secret This Way Comes (book1 Secret McQueen series) by Sierra Dean

I don't often do weekend posts but i found out that Sierra Dean's debut book "Something Secret This Way Comes" was free on Amazon right now i just had to come and post so people could get a chance to try this series out if you  haven't so far. This ebook was first published in May of 2011. I've read the entire series so far and loved everyone. Give it a try!

Some secrets are dangerous. This Secret is deadly.

Secret McQueen, Book 1

For Secret McQueen, her life feels like the punch line for a terrible joke. Abandoned at birth by her werewolf mother, hired as a teen by the vampire council of New York City to kill rogues, Secret is a part of both worlds, but belongs to neither. At twenty-two, she has carved out as close to a normal life as a bounty hunter can.

When an enemy from her past returns with her death on his mind, she is forced to call on every ounce of her mixed heritage to save herself—and everyone else in the city she calls home. As if the fate of the world wasn’t enough to deal with, there’s Lucas Rain, King of the East Coast werewolves, who seems to believe he and Secret are fated to be together. Too bad Secret also feels a connection with Desmond, Lucas’s second-in-command…

Warning: This book contains a sarcastic, kick-ass bounty hunter; a metaphysical love triangle with two sexy werewolves; a demanding vampire council; and a spicy seasoning of sex and violence.

No idea how long it will remain free so grab it now!

Book review & Giveaway! : Stirring it up (Love, Served with a Twist) by Mary Leo

When sexy world traveler, Max Rosso, walks into With a Twist, the San Diego based martini bar and bistro Rose Cupido owns with her two best friends, she immediately knows she's in trouble. Not only did the mysterious gypsy prophesize that Rose would find true love by Valentine's Day, but the gypsy also warned that this new love must be returned. If it is not returned, all will be lost, including With a Twist.

As Valentine's Day fast approaches, can Max and Rose stir it up enough to find true love, or will his need for freedom get in the way of them having it all?

Rose is best friends with Jasmine and Daisy. On a great day having fun they see a gypsy who gives them her predictions. They will open a With a Twist, martini bar and bistro and be wildly successful. Each would also get a personal prediction and those had seem to come true too. Rose prediction being that she would hear from her father that abandoned her and her mom years ago. The last thing the gypsy told them was that they would each find true love. A crystal clear glass heart shows up at the With a Twist out of the blue and is supposed to guide them by glowing red when their true loves are close. The catch to all this is if they don't make their true loves don't love them back by midnight Valentine's day they will lose it all. For Rose the crystal heart shines on Max Rosso her friend Jasmines cousin who Daisy has a history with. One that wasn't good.  Max is kind of a world travelor. He ditched Rose on prom night 10 years ago and she hasn't seen him since. Now both are these great chef's with Rose as the Chef of the bistro part of With a Twist. As Max tried to help Rose learn to relax and let go they finally get together and both are happy. That is until Max gets a phone call with another one of those chance of life time things and he books Rose and himself on a flight to France. Rose really wants to be with him and traveling with him sounds great but her heart is in the bistro and her friends and making it all work. He leaves like before. When it seems like none of the girls are going to make true love stick a Valentine miracle has to happen and fast.  This is the 3rd is a trio of cute Valentine's stories. Perfect mix of  story and romance and fun to make it a great little read and of course you hope the great ending. Book review & Giveaway! : Dirtying it up (Love Served with a Twist) by Calista Fox

Dirtying It Up by Calista Fox

A prophecy whispered in Jasmine Rosso’s ear by a gypsy fortune teller in San Diego’s Seaport Village leads her to a sizzling night with sexy glass artist Jake Hartnett. But the clock’s running out on the time allotted to fulfill the prophecy, and if Jasmine doesn’t make a true love connection with Jake before midnight on Valentine’s Day, she’ll lose everything she’s worked so hard to achieve this past year...including the trendy martini bar and bistro, With a Twist, that she owns with her two best friends. Worst of all, she’ll lose Jake—the only man she’s ever wanted.

Three best friends all meet this gypsy one day and she gives them her prediction for them and a year later it seems like everything she said has happened except finding their true loves. A clear Crystal heart shows up in the bar and grill they own that is supposed to glow red when their true love is near. For Jasmine that person is supposed to be glass artist Jake Harnett.  The  gypsy also tells them that their bar/bistro will be crazy successful but if they didn't find their true loves and make them fall in love with them all would be lost. They didn't really take it seriously until Feb 1st rolled around. All the Gypsies predictions came through so maybe they had a reason to worry. Jake was not new to Jasmine's life. She's known him for some time but he's a bad boy and bad boys don't get serious. Jake though has been holding a candle for Jasmine for a long time too and long trip to Italy for work makes him realize how much she means to him. Jasmine's been burned before by a bad boy and she's not going to go through that again. Jake has his work cut out for him. Lovely hot little Valentine's day story.  4 out of 5 Modokker Book Pick stars. This book is part of a trilogy and all three books take place at the same time.
